@69thewatchersees You don't normally hear Prince do covers all that much though. You always seem to hear other people covering him, and that has been going on back when he was still making a name for himself. By 1985, you had two people (Cyndi Lauper & Mitch Ryder) that covered "When U Were Mine"!

@69thewatchersees Yeah, Prince is VERY protective of his music, and I damn sure respect that. That really comes into play when you consider that his religious convictions these days has him more or less avoiding or flat out rejecting some of his older cuts. As much as I love the Foo Fighters and their cover of "Darling Nikki", I had to wonder what they were thinking when they just recorded it without permission.

Cool version. Someone mentioned he wrote the original song (actually written by Eric Bazilian of the Hooters). What I think they may have meant is the song sample that is at the beginning of the song and intertwined through out. The song is Love, Thy Will Be Done. Written by Prince, but sung and released by Martika in the early 90's
