  • so you wanna be black? or white? i'm kinda new at this

  • Very nice counter ;) i hate those low rated Fags that always come in for that dumb attack, im gonna counter that way next time :)

  • At 7:39 the better move would be Qe4, taking the bishop with check.

  • @JustCrowned

The rook is more valuable though...

  • at 14:35, what's black's continuation after white pawn g3?

  • 12:00 why not pawn to B5?

  • At 1:08 if Bf7 then watch this video

    watch?v=12ctAIjSwGk

  • 20:12 "he might just resign right there" lool

  • people who lost to traxler disliked video xD

  • after 13:00 you can move Ke2 and it will be ower

  • I suppose h2 is a refutation but still good for black

  • At 13:03 bishop e2 forces mate on f1 coz if whites bishop captures ( only defence) then the night on d4 recaptures for checkmate. Castling is useless :P

  • Wow that was a very interesting game. Wonder how far he thought into it? Amazing

  • That is one pretty way to end the video...

  • hahahaha love the last line: "he might just give up right there:D"

  • When the two knights are in the center why can he not go Kxe4? am i missing something?

  • Comment removed

  • at 10:27 why you can't go Bg4?

  • After 1. Bxf2 Kxf2 2. Nxe4, if Kf1, I like O-O better since it keeps the knight from capturing and keeps your king safe. However, there's always a chance of a knight move+discovered attack tactic to watch out for.

  • Yes, this is very useful. But after Ke3 there is no check coming...

So, what's the best move after Ke3? Thanks

  • @DecayDeLunette 7...Qe7! If Black knows his stuff, he can't lose.

  • Comment removed

  • very nice video! i play a lot italian games, but never saw this reply from black.. now i`ve seen this video, i hope someone try this attack on me haha. i now know this counterattack

  • 2 stop this the w king gos 2 e3

  • Picked out a random video by you this morning and boy did a great one come up!

Make a million more videos please!!

I love them all. Live games is what I want most.

  • wow

  • White has two ways to fight for a win in this game. The first is 5.Kxf2 Nxe4+ 6.Ke3!

If instead 6.Kg1, black can force a draw, but with 6.Ke3 white can play for a win.

Another unclear line occurs after 5.Kf1 Qe7 6.Nxh8 d5 7.exd5 Nd4 8.h3! These lines take a lot of effort and precision from both players, and with best play white only keeps a slight edge after defending the entire game.

  • What if white take pawn on f7 with bishop and check the king instead of fork the queen and root with knight?

  • @MrMuggyMuggy If white plays Bxf7+, black is prepared to play Ke7, and use the f-file for a king attack. This is one of white's best options. Played correctly, white can keep a small advantage

  • This is fucking awesome!!! *.*

  • u always say its your favorite!

  • LOL he resigns after 4 moves. You should be like 4...Bc5 and then look him dead in the eye and say "mate in 28" or something XD

  • enother thing, after kd4 white can take bishop on f2 and now it's very dificult for black to win

  • 20:12 ok but what if you bring his bishop to f7? Can you explain this situation?

  • @ToxX4N That would be related to a variation of the Italian Game, if you want to study this variation. However, 5.Bf7 will win a pawn and disable Black's castling rights, but your opponent is waaaaaay more likely to play 5.Nf7 which would win a rook as well as a pawn. At medium level play or at advanced play however it is more likely that, if Black doesn't reply with 4...Bc5 setting up the Traxler, the game will go through the Fried Liver attack (4...d5 5.exd5 Nxd5 6.Nxf7 Kxf7 7.Qf3).

  • Simply Beautiful :*

  • at 10:23 why cant black just move bishop to g4 straight away, so hen the queen is trapped?!!?!?

  • @ro33han White can move Be2 to block

  • At the variation around 11:20, after white captures by e4xd5, why can't black immediately play Bg4 instead of Nd4? That way, won't white lose the queen for sure?

  • @forbiddensecrets1 he can block with the bishop

  • @Mondrae205 of course. thanks for pointing that out. can't believe i missed that. :)

  • would castling for white before working the fried liver attack be any better for white?

  • @zzzzzzzzzz098 thats called the lolli attack. watch the video :)

  • @fjerdy thank you

  • Great attack. This attack gives adrenial rush! Won one game because of this, exploiting concepts around it.

  • thats crazy. good video!

  • "he might just resign right there" i laughed when he said that

  • 8:16

"This bissum sure is not going anywhere."

It's like you were trying to say bishop but got lazy and gave up lol

  • At 13:21 Q to f1 is not mate bc the bishop takes queen. Q f2 is mate, mate.

  • AT 3:50 e7 is quite good as it is checkemate soon. So, Qe7 Nxh8 Qc5 either Kf1 Qf2 checkmate.

Or d4 pxd4 and it will be checkmate soon. Hope you reply.

  • Can you do the Traxler even without the fried liver?

  • If I see Bc5 from this opening I'm just going to castle...

  • i really like the italian game, specifically the fried liver attack. this video makes me not want to play that anymore. lol

  • YOU TALK TOO MUCH ..SHUT UP AND SHOW THE GAME

  • I pulled this off 3 times in a row last night and I was so happy because I won all 3 of those games.

  • When you said the King's best move was G1, what about E3? I realize this isolates the king, but there isn't much black can do immediately, giving you the opportunity to snag the Rook and prevent king-side castling, or to focus completely on defense and get your bishop and Queen out to the weakened king-side.

  • @Sylence777

I have a problem because almost everyone pulls the king out and you have to take out the queen or else it dies and then white develops and you're in a terrible position and with material disadvantage.

  • @guxtAv123 I found out the the best move after Ke3 is Qh4. g3, Nxg3, hxg3, Qd4+, and after that you'll move the pawn to d5. White is going to have to play carefully, but it's still going to be tough for you.

  • hey kevin at 11:05 his best move isnt knight d4 its Bg4 attacking the queen and he doesnt have anything to defend

  • Doesn't d3 block the attack black is building up to?

  • same dude. it's awesome! :D

  • I've got a friend who loves the Ng5 trick..... (Evil Grin) I'm going to have a loooot of fun with him...

  • what if he takes the pawn with the bishop instead of the knight and checks you?

  • @TheYellowSanta If he does then move your king then if he doesnt retreat his bishop then he'll be down by 2 points if you play h6

  • Guys I can't seem to force mate with Kxf2 Nxe4+ Ke3 Qh4 g3 or Kxf2 Nxe4+ Ke3 Qf6 Rf1

  • Once I made someone cry with Traxler. It was epic.

  • @Timeticker hehe ,me too,

    what an ingredible feeling ...

  • @bossiotr Yeah it was :-) and the funny thing was, this guy was talking smack before the game, and trying to put me off before the game even started. Also during the first few moves, he kept talking and being an asshole. Hell, he even laughed when he took my Bishop on f2. The guy had no idea.

Well, only four moves later, it was done.

    And I laughed XD

  • @Timeticker LMAO

  • @Timeticker same here, except that guy was like hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you cheated!!!!!!!!!!!!! there's no way you could've won and I had to buy him a Ice cream. (It was at a chess tournament)

  • @albertqwer16 Lol, the disbelieve in their eyes. Did the ice-cream soften the blow? :-)

  • @Timeticker he was still fuming and later on asked for a rematch. Of course, I still beat him with the traxler counter attack

  • black is gonna win the queen at 7:19

  • great video, very well explained, thanks

  • this video is really helpful. i was able to beat someone in blitz (5 min) who has a ranking of 2000 maybe more while i just have a ranking of 1400-1600. However after we played this and he struggled 1-2 times he got another move not mentioned in this video. the move is 7.Ke3 which attacks my night on e4. i tried 2 variations: qe7 and qh4 and both are not satisfying in the case of black. i will lose my rook and after struggling the king will be safe. what am i supposed to do? can you help? thanks

  • what happens to 5 ... Bxf7+?

  • WOW rly enjoyed it

  • What should black play if white after taking gambit (bishop) goes to f3 and attack knight?

  • What should be played when 6. Kxf2 Nxe4+ 7.Ke3 Dh4 8. Tf1 or 8. Df3 ?

  • @SamrSnow You and your friends are worse than that acne-scarred face.

  • Would you please anylize the "Urusov Gambit"?

  • @sengaltapisempoi he definitely can castle. your rook can be attacked. It is your king that can't be attacked or move through an attacked square.

  • @thechesswebsite On that note I never realized you could protect your rook like that.

  • @thechesswebsite actually you can't castle with your rook being attacked...

  • Can you please give the solution to Puzzle No.8 in Medium mode

  • At 16:00 if white plays Bxb5?

  • If at 12:07 the white play cxd4?

  • What should you do at 10:45 if Kxf2?

  • Finally i can share my friend the fried liver attack and be able to play against it. Keep up the video Kevin

  • what about on 13:03 black bishop to e2 planing check mate in one move white only option is to take with his white square bishop and black can mate with knight

  • @yinchen100 no, pawn takes d4 knight

  • @imanidot but then black queen can come in to f1 and checkmate.

  • @yinchen100 sorry, good point, the move sequence works! However, a better move at 10:45 instead of c3 is Kxf2, can you help me come up with a counter to that?

  • @imanidot if king take black bishop on f2 then Black white square bishop attacks white queen with g4, White queen is forced to move away, then Kxc2 if white queen moves to e1 forking the queen and rook. then queen is force to move to f1 and then mate in four moves. with the combination of black knight to e4 check forcing white king to move to g1 and black moves queen to c5 check white can only block with queen to f2 and black finishes by taking the white queen with his black queen checkmate.

  • @yinchen100 thankyou for the help!

  • what a crazy gambit. thanks for the video!

  • Brilliant play, and equally brilliant explanation. Thanks for this video!

  • your the best...humour knowledge...

  • can u explain the variation,,, when white put his queen to g1. after the check of black in khnight ++ E4

  • can u explain the variation,,, when white put his queen to g1.

  • what happens if white plays 6. Bxf7?

  • What if white just takes with the bishop instead of the knight?

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my God, thanks. I used this opening to defeat the level 2000+ computer on chess.com in 8 moves. e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bc4 Nf6 Ng5 Bc5 Nxf7 Bxf2+ Kxf2 Nxe4+ Kg1 Qh4 b4 Qf2 checkmate
  • I just rofllpwend someone with that.. i love it!

  • I played my first tournament this weekend, and was able to use this not only once, but twice. Both times, it resulted in a clear victory for me. Thank you very much for making this video, Kevin.

  • what if at 2:14 white goes Ke3 and possibly followed by Qf3?

  • There is a mistake in the analysis. At 13:52

    Position is: 2k2r1N/pppn2pp/8/3Pp3/Q1BP4/7K/PP1P1qP1/RNB4R b - - 0 18

The best move is Rf4 with a FORCED MATE IN 8!!!

Which is executed as follows, where white sacs most of the pieces to prolong the game.

    18... Rf4 19. g3 Rf3 20. Rg1 Qxg1 21. Qxd7+ Kxd7 22. Bb5+ Kc8 23. Bd7+ Kxd7 24.

    Kh4 Qxg3+ 25. Kh5 Rf5#

  • what program do you use?

  • i like your videos.

  • great traps!

  • at 10:30 , you mention you want to take back on d5 with the pawn for strategic reasons. The ost obvious reason is the queen trap though, with Bg4 (exd5 allows Be2 if necessary), as shows G Jamrich vs J Dudas, 1996

    (C57) Two Knights, 21 moves, 0-1 .

(even though Dudas missed a mate in 3 at one point ^^).

  • I have a doubt If white bishop takes F7 instead of his knight how black going to defend? Its a just doubt can please clarify

  • @nnizarrazin

at 01:34 he says he will exclusively cover Nxf7, but maybe he should have mentionned the other possibilities ! so here it is : yes Bxf7 is a very good move (the other possibilities, b4 and d4, are theoretically inferior but playable; castling is bad because black will castle too and then chase the g5 knight with h7h6)

Bxf7+ is much safer, and should definitely be played if you don't know the theory, but beware, black can get some attack too! (Ke7 Bb3 Rf8 d3 d6 Be3 is ok for white)

  • This has been one of my favorite defenses so far.

  • white knight? its a rook :)

  • wow, that traxler game at the end was awesome!

  • What if in the begining of the Italian defense, white takes the f7 pawn with his bishop? what is the right response?

  • actually, at 03:36, the best move is Ke3

  • @shinyninetales999 i think you are so right. i just played a game where my opponent played Ke3. i went down on material and lost. i do not think kevin examined this option. maybe he should.

  • @black7kilt try looing at that video of a swedish program called the opening school, (search traxler gambit on youtube) they talk a lot about Ke3, I don't know what part they talk about it, so try looking for the explanation in more than 1 parts

  • lol, crap-ton. xD

  • @12:27 why doesn't white just move pawn g2-g3?

  • This is really great.excellent tutorial.

  • The person who disliked this was Traxler's opponent.

  • How bout knight to c2 at 05.05 be nice to take the queen out of the running i think even at the price of a rook and no castling on the king side

  • Wow, this' great! Giving tutorial for chess is never easy, great job !!!

  • Soo, what up if white takes with the bishop to check black's king at the start? Black has to move Kf8 if he still wants to be able to attack, but loses the potential f-line for the rook. Isn't this a killer if white does take the bishop 'gambit' on f2?

  • what if the white bishop takes the pawn at f7 (instead of Knight). The white king has to move and it will not be able to castle later in the game. But we can hope that white is greedy and wants to take queen or rook.

  • @chanabnagar It's a valid line, and probably the safest for White for avoiding crazy complications. 5. Bxf7 Ke7 6. Bd5 Rf8 and so on. Black is down a pawn and can't castle, but Black has a pawn structure in the centre that is solid for a while, and the potential to overwhelm White's kingside with so many pieces aimed that way.

  • @Auliliae

    Thanks

  • @chanabnagar actually that's a better move, it's also more often played a GM games

  • this is fantastic, thank you!

  • oh my, that Trexler game at the end was amazing, unbelivable how good some people are at chess

  • oh my... that Trexler game at the was amazing

  • It's great ideass and must of it is new , cuse I've seen this before King to g1 its game over for white that what happened to me while ago , is there any way to avoide that ? after king capture on f2 ?

  • what about after Knight take e4. king e3

  • Comment removed

  • i honestly didnt like that attack, it seems too risky

  • wait what about 5. f2

  • So... this is like a pocketknife of death?

  • @ 13:48, isn't Rf3 a better move for black, instead of sacrificing the bishop?

  • That traxler video was amazing...

  • this is so beautiful!

  • "As we can see, even though black is down a crap ton in material..." HAHA

  • Is it ok to promote this video on my team's website, Team 54 of chess.com?

  • Comment removed

  • The fried liver attack? Nice. Bxf2... wow! And b5 took my by surprise, very creative. Bd3 took some nerve; even if I saw the mating combo, I'm taking the queen just in case I overlooked something. excellent video! As a matter of fact, I'm going to showcase this in my list of favorites.

  • Comment removed

  • Well obviously the white got raped by black. Anyone who play with white watch out from traxler counter attack and you gonna need to hide your pawns, hide your kings, and hide your queen, cause they raping everybody out here.

Thanks for video again Kevin like always.

  • At 13:01, can't black play Be2? It threatens checkmate by Qf1, and Bxe2, Nxe2 is checkmate. As far as I see, h2 is white's only possible move to avoid checkmate (other than sacrificing the queen by Qd1), and it also seems to leave black with quite some attacking opportunities...

  • What a powerful counter attack. Thanks, Kevin

  • You rock Kevin.

  • Comment removed

  • So what's the best continuation after 5. Bxe7+? 5. ... Ff8, 6. Bc4 Qe7? Doesn't seem very aggressive yet.

  • so when's the next video?

  • FINNALY! WE GET A VIDEO

  • wow i wish i knew this back a few years ago in high school cuz my math teacher used to play this EVERY game, it was a weird opening for me and after a year of him playing the same thing i came up with my own method of beating him but damn, this woulda made things much funner and interesting, too bad i cant go back in time and challenge him again lol

  • @rebelsouljaz

well, maybe you can play a game online vs him?

  • @wichtolosaurus2 i live in a different country

  • LOL. "Crap ton."

  • Thanks much! You just made my game more fun, and maybe even more successful.

  • good game

  • what a coincidence! i tried to find something against this opening from white for black a few weeks ago and voila, here we go!!!

  • What should I do if white castles after I play Bc5? :(

  • Comment removed

  • Very insightful. Thanks

  • at 12:27 what happens if white moves pawn to g3?
