  • Careful having the air filter down behind the bumper. I got real lucky with that. I moved the air filter back to the engine bay and the very next weekend it was raining really bad on the highway and I hit this massive puddle so basically it would have killed me if I didn't move it.

  • Did you have to tune the pcm to accept the cam?

  • I also have a green cammed out lt1

  • Sound like a pricharger

  • AUTOMATIC? GAHH!!!

  • @randomreptar21 yeah i know, that is the next thing i'll be doing..swapping in a 6 speed.

  • @mptopczewski borg warner 5 speed from an 83 z28

  • @mptopczewski i did the swap on my Z too.fun.but auto with a big stall is fun too

  • @randomreptar21 chill out automatic aint that bad, did you know the fastest LT1 ran on a automatic transmission?! it did.

  • @randomreptar21 auto's arent that bad...especially if u gotta drive daily in traffic......also u can buy a 30$ shift kitand it'll shift ast...also an auto has no way of missing a gear.

  • nice ........ im looking for a lt1

  • this video will give me wet dreams for the next 5 weeks...

  • automatic? SUPER WEAK

  • Same build like mine

  • Why would you run a 52mm throttle body?

  • @papers232313 makes perfect sense with a cam that can utilize it.

  • @papers232313 it is actually a twin blade 52mm TB. Stock lt1 is twin 48 mm. the 48 and 52 is the size of each blade in diameter.

  • man that's a sweet camaro. where did you get the wing from? How are you liking the cc306 i'm doing that next for my camaro

  • i drive a skyline

    and GOD DAMN

    i love that model camaro

    car sounds awesome dude!!

  • @DaPepsinator I appreciate that...just a daily driver for me. I'm planning to rebuild it sometime soon and put a 396 stroker kit in it.

  • @mptopczewski hows ur drivability with this setup?

  • @bulldog190 not bad on the street at all but I think it could use a little larger stall. I really wanted to put a manual trans and a bigger cam in it when I rebuilt the motor. this cam definately helped the power in the most useful rpm range of 2200-5800, good torque as well.

  • @mptopczewski im really jellous man lol i hope to get one in march

  • @xluckyy99 thanks, what year are you looking for?

  • @mptopczewski 95 Camero lol or 89

  • @xluckyy99 get a 93-97. or if you can afford it a 98-02 with an LS based engine in it. much more power potential with an LS.

  • I think ive got around 385-395 hp at the crank/335 to the wheeks in mine. so with a little better head or bigger cubes i would think 400 is definetely possible. good luck and thanks for the comments

  • @mptopczewski Wish my 96 had that much, some day it will. I would of liked been able to put a guy in his place on the freeway today just may could with the car being stock being that he was driving a mazada coupe think its called a MR4 flew passed me going about 90mph.

  • i do have an auto trans, it's been built up with all the goodies, 5 gear planitary ect... and it also has a 3,000 stall in the car right now. but with a stock 305 right now! then next summer throwing my 383 in it. eagle 4130 crank and 6 inch rods with sprotsmens 2 heads and then im throwing in that same cam as you do hopefully i get 400 out of it. ill be happy if it does. and with a tpis mini ram on top..

  • i have that same cam waiting to be put in my car, cant wait till its in. sounds great!!!!

  • @jcoskins Thanks..I think this is a good cam for an auto trans car with stock stall but if you have a manual, I'd go bigger.

  • Go get it DYNO TUNED! That's why its sluggish. That thing should tear up some shiz!!!! HAUL BALLS!!! Don't waste your time on PCM forless mail order tune after the money yo have into it. Go get the sucker tuned!

  • do the lt1's come with factory aluminum heads

  • Yeah, its great in the lower to mid range rpms but still runs good up top too. If you have a manual trans, I might re-consider going to a bigger cam. If you have an auto trans this cam is right on the edge of needing a bigger stall but still runs on the street great. The idle is noticable when cold and if you know what you are listening for, you still notice the idle when warmed up.

  • i just got that same came to put in vortec 383 ..you like it?

  • I think 385 is kind of a stretch with stock unported heads. Maybe 365-370 with a manual trans and all the bolt ons.

  • @wjrneo2: 385 rear wheel hp is attainable without head work. Cam, 1.6rr, gasket matching, 58 mm, good tune and full bolt ons will put you there if you choose the right components and it will be very streetable. No need to go onto a forum and ask anyone about theres.

  • The rear end gear will affect what the rpm is at a certain mph, so in theory a 3.73 or higher will help move the car's rpms up. This may seem to help your problem, but I would get the computer tune looked at as well and check to see if you have everything hooked up to the manifold and throttle body and you have no vaccum leaks.

  • @mptopczewski

thanks for the help. the only thing left is to have the computer checked. i had a magazine with a LT1 build up and i used all the numbers for the heads and cam as i had all the bolt ons installed before i seen the artical. the claim was for 400 HP at the wheels.

  • @mptopczewski

not sure if there is something wrong with the clutch or just the tires are breaking traction but it seems sluggish for 400 hp. top end is awesome bottom was refreshed 30 over and pistons to hold the nitrous. getting itchy to hit the track to see the E.T. hope it was worth it.

  • i did some work to my 95 LT1. just got it back and it seems to lug at 1000-1500 rpm in 6th. is it possible the stock 3:42 is not matching up with the engine work?

  • Thanks. It took a little work to get this one to fit since it was aftermarket. The stock one is just kinda boring.

  • ah i love the ls1 spoiler it makes the lt1 cars look sexy in the rear

  • looks and sounds just like mine. good job

  • do you have the same cam? have you dynoed it?

  • no i have an lt4 hotcam but its almost the same. but mine dynoed at 385rwhp with my cam and full bolt ons with a tune and a m6, i just noticed yours is the same year and color and interior combo as mines too. only mines has t tops

  • @juicyp12

Can't make 385rwhp with a hot-cam and bolt-ons. LT1 heads just don't flow enough. Highest dyno i've EVER heard about (not actually seen even) was 354rwhp with all supporting mods....

Unless you have headwork 385rwhp is a pipe dream. Thats cam only LS1 territory.

  • @wjrneo2 oh no its very possible. i have less parastic loss to the wheels with an m6. and had a VERY good tuner tune the engine for me. with a bigger tb, intake, injectors, and other bolt ons and good valvesprings 385rwhp is attainable. ill try to get a dyno sheet up for you.

  • @juicyp12

Those 35xrwhp numbers are through M6's and tuned. Searching through LT1tech, CamaroZ28, LS1tech..etc all of the major forums not ONE person has returned a result that high on the hot-cam. The highest cam only LT1 dyno that has been proven was 367rwhp, and it wasn't drivable in the least. This was a street/strip car in the truest sense.

385rwhp requires too much flow from the heads, heads that barely flow 220cfm. The stock heads could do it with some port work, but not as cast.

  • I actually have not run it in the 1/4 since rebuilding it, but stock with just a flowmaster muffler it went 9.0-9.1 in the 1/8. I think that might be about 13.0-13.1. I've gained 85-90hp since then. So maybe a 12.6-12.8 in the 1/4?

  • I run 8.7's in the 1/8th mile at 81mph. Same runs in the 1/4 mile are 13.5x @ 102mph.

  • Sounds Awesome, I Have 60122 The Luntai Cam, Lookin Fwd 2 Using in my LT1 Rebuild, Wat Kind Of Times U Runnin In The 1/4

  • i have a 96 Z28 i was wondering if you did anything to the intake manifold it seems like its awfully restricted and what kind of cold air intake is that? I am getting ready to start doing some more work to mine and I've been trying to compare cold air intakes and does that one do away with the entire plastic piece inside the wheel well it looked like you had that pulled off?

  • Yeah I gasket matched the cylinderhead side. Otherwise I did not open it up anywhere else. If you put anything bigger than a 52mm throttlebody on it, you'll have to machiene the holes on the front of the manifold. This was a Moroso cold air intake. It pulls air from behind and under the headlight so it does elminate the plastic. I just took it off and put on the ram air box that came with my hood.

  • Edelbrock makes an LT4 short runner tunnel ram intake manifold that will accept a stock, 52mm, or 58mm TB.

  • nice car man have you dynoed it yet and so what has it made to the wheels?

  • It made 336hp and 325lbs./ ft. of torque at the wheels. Before I built it the numbers were 252hp and 275 torque at the wheels.

  • you got somewhat of a built motor with full P&P heads and it's only making 336 why not closer to 400 Ive read a good set of P&P stock heads will make close to and or over 400 but nice numbers thou :)

  • Actually the camshaft and auto trans really will dictate what the power is at the rear wheels. I think on average a manual trans will make about 25-30 more hp than an auto at the wheels. Also the heads are only 10cc bigger port on the intake and 8cc bigger on the exhaust. This cam is really small/mild compared to other LT cams. Since it still has the stock torque converter I was limited on cam size. I'd think a manual trans and bigger cam car with a good tune might be close to 400 at the wheels.

  • hehe yeah as soon as I made my last post I realized your cam was a smaller one (I believe about the size of an lt4 HOTCAM)and also I didn't realize your heads whernt fully P&P and I believe if you had fully P&P heads and the biggest cam you could get(with a 355 and an auto)you could make over 400 RWHP(hopefully somewhere like 415-430)

  • Yeah it was kind of a budget build. I kicked a head gasket in early '06 and decided to rebuild the whole thing. Man it added up quick. I have plans in a year or so to rebuild it again but put in a stroker kit and manual trans or keep the auto and use a bigger stall and of coarse a bigger cam...i think the lunati 60122..230/237 590-ish lift. I think I might also open the exhaust ports up a little but leave the intakes.

  • well good luck with that dude :)

  • sounds sick.

about how much did all that cost?

  • Well all the machiene work was free, since I work at a shop. Parts total was about $1800-$2200. That includes all exhaust components and all internal engine parts.

  • whats the numbers ?

  • which numbers?

  • hp and torque

  • at the wheels 336hp and 325lbs.ft tq. so about 390-400 at the flywheel.

  • nice video

  • thanks, just a nice daily driver

  • cold start? i hate that noise, mine does it too

  • yeah cold start. i think it is the IAC pulling air through the throttle body.

  • what kind of power gains did u get if any? u get better street type acceleration

  • I gained around 85rwhp with all of these mods over stock form. This car makes 336 rwhp and 325rwtq. Thats about 390-400 at the motor.
