Agreed smaller engine in the back the bonnet also wasn't attached properly no fuel lines, coolant and there is no way the guy underneth got all the mounts hooked up or the driveshafts that quick there just simple wouldn't be enough space to remove/insert the driveshafts without at least popping the wishbone out the bottom of the strut first.

Do people actually realise what a car needs to drive a few feet? I.e. The fuel in the carb/line alone would do this. A welded diff would allow just one shaft to be fitted and all that would have to be is a quick release item that's pinned together. An exhaust system and radiator is NOT required for such a short stint. Engine doesn't need to be bolted up, it could easily hang on an adapted mount. It's 100% real IMO and certainly very doable.

I'm thinking there was a little engine mounted in the back to make this seem real. Seeing as how the car revved drastically to scoot a little forward it's probably a smaller ~250cc engine in the back. The "engine swap" was probably them setting the decoy on some kind of mount, reattaching the hood, and proceeding to "win" a world record. Ford engines in that model have three motor mounts, they never appeared to attach the fuel line or a throttle cable, etc. But this would be cool to a nimwit

Yea, there are only a few ways this could happen, 1. Would either have to be air cooled, or run and installed without coolent. 2. Breakerpoint system or a totally contained ignition system within the distributor. 3. The most oiled and cleanest exaust manifold to exaust pipe threads EVER. People mention driveshafts (or sometimes called half-shaft for FWD cars), ehh, if designed really well they can just slip in with no problem. But yea, there was prep done for 42 seconds.

@teddy22111 Yeah, but there was a lot of cheating to do it, none of the coolant pipes were connected, the bonnet wasn't even fixed to the car as it should be it was rigged to come right off when the bonnet catch was released, so they didn't have to unbolt the bonnet. It was rigged deliberately. It wasn't a proper engine swap.

I know you don't see bolts being undone ect. The point is to remove the engine,replace it and connect the parts so it's can pass a mark a few yards in front. If they had to undo bolts ect, it may have took them a few minutes extra. The 'mechanics on here saying it's much harder and not real' are probably talking about the 'real time' it takes to change an engine. Oil,filter change and bit of tutting and off to the toilet for a crafty fag. The point was made. It can be done!
