I'm sorry but I have read comments on all of the videos that I have ever watched on youtube including someone laughing at plane crashes but your comment probably beat that one. That was a ridiculous comment. She is a nine year old girl who clearly has music talent. I bet you couldn't play this song this well when you were nine. Ok? She probably worked very hard on this piece, maybe she didn't and everybody has a different skill level when it comes to music and I wouldn't be talking and critisizi

i agree that she may sounds not as expressive as other violinist(or just among her age group) but this has nothing to do with her race such as 'asian'.i'd comment the playing base on what i hear and no making my conclusion-' she doesnt sound impressive because she's asian'.sorry if i dint make myself clear previously. idiot!Idiot! you moron, your putting words that are not their!!!!!
i basically mean the majority of violin players on youtube are Asians and they turn out to be good.. and i think its a bit overrated and annoying, like hearing Paris Hilton on the news for a whole week! its annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and i know for a fact that their are more majority rather then Asians that play amazing on violin piano est.I would like a variation basically. ignorant!
Dammit... why does everyone automatically assume Asians don't have any passion for their instrument? If you don't want to see an Asian playing it, don't look at the window and just listen...
even if it is a little sloppy, she is the best child violinist here on youtube hands down!
I actually kinda like her slight sloppyness...I don't know, makes me fell like she's not being robotically trained to achieve technical perfection, thus being the most emotional young player around here =)
no it won't, cuz you said it's not an emotional thing, so either you're contradicting youself, or you did not include that in you 50/50 thing...
oh yeah, and also, you said the 50/50 thing referring to variety of ativities/skills, so once more, either the 50/50 didn't cover all, or you didn't express yourself properly =o
all right then,so you could say 50/50 about pretty much anything in the world,so you would be always right withing that 50%,even if you don't have a clue of what the fuck you are talking about,
its like picking an unknown number and saying " or it's odd or it's even", wow, amazing guess!
pretty solid argument you got there
so yeah, you can take my comment and aply that concept to turn it against me,and tell yourself you won,but still, you might not know just what the fuck you are talking about :)
not really, I mean ,rationally it's easy to understand, but it still doesn't convince me, beacause it's seems too much of a vague concept to a concrete situation...
well, that aside, getting back to concrete opinions, I just think she's gonna be a really great violinist, best than all the other asian prodigies because she's not rushing into it, and by taking her time and living her life, she'll be a great, passionate player
i know for a fact what im talking about because not only am i major in physic and Mathematics but im a minor in English going into a major at U.T.

hello nasharyaba, pls note that Paganini caprise basically is a technique study. When Paganini wrote this, the purpose was not to express musical feeling.
** a man who understand classical music, shouldn't be rude like you.
Wouldn't have been easier to slur the notes? I played the violin for a short while so i don't know a lot about technique but it seems like slur the notes would have been more... effective?
What the fuck. You're suck a show off. Who cares if you understand classical music more than us? At least we know SOMETHING. Don't be too serious. Pfft.
I understand your point, but playing music with only his heart don't worth anything. Musicians need technique to have a good sonority and after come the feelings. Only genius at 10 years old are enought mature to add feelings to music. Personnaly, i think this girl could do good things.
This performance is actually quite poor. Close your eyes and it sounds abysmal compared to the other times you've heard this piece. If you are performing a given piece, your performance must be somewhere in the vicinity of the level of other performances. On both the techincal (too slow, unclean) and artistic (completely dry and metronomic) this is not a good performance. Props for attempting it at age 9 though.
I can't believe you have the nerve to call this performance 'poor'. Yes, you're entitled to your own opinion, but your comment is completely arrogant. It's the same as if a child made a decent, quality painting and I said "Yeah, but it's not the Mona Lisa." I don't know what kind of bizarre taste you have in music but I LOVED listening to this piece. And I'd rather listen to a "sub-par" performance than listen to a "perfect" performance from some and arrogant pompous ass like you.
The Mona Lisa is one of the highlights of Western art. My point is so are the Paganini caprices to violin playing. Obviously I wouldn't expect a young painter to make his own innovations and have professional skills. That brings us to this video. Why is this 9 year old attempting professional repertoire? She should be treated as if she is on the level necessary to play these pieces. There are soo many more pieces that would be apropos for this performer and that she could pull off correctly.
I dont think there's anything wrong with having her perform a piece like this. There are no rules about the difficulty level that a child of a certain age is allowed to attempt. Music isn't about comparing one child's performance next to that of someone older or more experienced. You seem to do that, and in the process you're missing out on the very joys of music. Who gives a shit if her performance is mediocre compared to some others? She's still good, and I LOVED hearing it.
She is 9! When I was 9 I couldn't even make a sound come out of my clarinet! I don't give a darn about what you think but I think she is good, wait not just good but magnificent!
Hear hear! or is it Here here!! Anyway, i agree entirely with your view...she will only get better by playing these pieces. I find that the earlier you play difficult pieces the better your technique and musicality develop. Also when you return to these pieces when you are mature...the basics are already in your brain. cchamp is a CCHUMP!!
very nice very nice. paganini is VERY challenging. i have been playing violin for around 10 years, and i just want to say that you are doing an AMAZING job. keep up the good work.

Yep I agree. Oddly enough I try to play on the violin the way Segovia played Classical guitar i.e. watching how slow his fat fingers moved but still had speed-perfect control.
Bravo! It was a delight to see a prodigy is receiving such solid training. Is there any exchange students program between Canada and Juilliard in America? Perhaps there might be a few prodigies like to share experiences for few weeks at least.
I think your teacher or parents can help you to find out. I'd like to suggest that check into their website first, such as go to Google and type "Juilliard". In the mean time, ask your teacher to work on the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto and send them the vedio.
I meant "to work on the concerto with you". This concerto will prove you're a virtuoso and prepare you for the future international competitions - you'll go places with it. I'm also eager to view your Broadcast Yourself with this concerto. Good luck!
Nope, please start with something little easier, for example Saint-Saens 3rd violin concerto- that could be very good for your tone quality and vitousity!
second part of this caprice is very difficult. most would take security in playing the more melodic caprices e.g.caprice 2. With time u will get so much better. But well done Most students your age where I live are still playing 'twinkle twinkle little star'!
Dr.Suzuki has revolutionized the violin teaching methods and not the violin playing. I know because he was my grand teacher. One day, I asked my teacher about his playing,my teacher replied:"So so." My teacher was a traditional violin virtuoso.
go ladu!!!! :)

I actually kinda like her slight sloppyness...I don't know, makes me fell like she's not being robotically trained to achieve technical perfection, thus being the most emotional young player around here =)
vfaguitar 2 years ago
no... it not a emotional thing.....
it shows she has other commitments rather then one....
in Asian's specifically Chinese,Korean, the people on the main land, are very pushy when it comes to talent.
which is nothing wrong what so ever but it leave a child only knowing on certain subject rather then a variety...
it's like 50% good 50% bad thing.
moneyjr1122 2 years ago
which directly leads to "the emotional thing"
i mean, i really believe you cannot be a good musician if you don't experience life, instead of practicing violin 24/7
I know it's very important to study hard, but you cannot lose yourself into that
vfaguitar 2 years ago
which is why its 50% bad..............
no matter what you say my 50% good and 50% bad will cover it all :P

vfaguitar 2 years ago
First, cuz is not a word.
second, either the 50/50 didn't cover all, is a statement that is against the laws of physics
50% +50%=100% nothing can never be wrong when its a statement of 50%.
What im saying is the effects of the outcome will either be bad or good, it will some up to 100% making it right all the time..
physics call that "cheating in the game"
no matter what you say your statement will lead to me being right all the time
also the emotional thing is referring to 50/50
moneyjr1122 2 years ago
all right then,so you could say 50/50 about pretty much anything in the world,so you would be always right withing that 50%,even if you don't have a clue of what the fuck you are talking about,

oh, and I didn't say the "you might not know what you are talking about" referring to your skills in exact sciences...
it was just an example to show the vagueness of that concept when it comes to a real conversation, like, you say it's 50% good 50% bad,
yeah, but how is it bad, or why is it good,
understand my point?

Miniumum movement of fingers, relax the bow. And more grace. And better sound shall come.
She seems to be looking for thenotes on the fingers. Let her feel the notes, without her eyes.
But shes nine.. so it will come...

Bravo! It was a delight to see a prodigy is receiving such solid training. Is there any exchange students program between Canada and Juilliard in America? Perhaps there might be a few prodigies like to share experiences for few weeks at least.

I would be very interested to go Juilliard if there is exchange students program.

Good luck!

Please read "vedio" as "video".

Nope, please start with something little easier, for example Saint-Saens 3rd violin concerto- that could be very good for your tone quality and vitousity!

second part of this caprice is very difficult. most would take security in playing the more melodic caprices e.g.caprice 2. With time u will get so much better. But well done Most students your age where I live are still playing 'twinkle twinkle little star'!

what a beautiful tone for such a young age! did she starts through the suzuki method?
Bratsche2000 5 years ago
She started with suzuki, but 1 year later she got a new violin teacher, then she stopped the susuki.

Dr.Suzuki has revolutionized the violin teaching methods and not the violin playing. I know because he was my grand teacher. One day, I asked my teacher about his playing,my teacher replied:"So so." My teacher was a traditional violin virtuoso.
