Thousands of songs are created by Bombay film Music Directors and they are sometimes inspired by foreign tunes. Thank God that they created such IMMORTAL SONGS. Thank INDIA for being so open to include and absorb ALL good things. Most tunes are ORIGINAL, but occasionally western tunes are also weaved in. Show any other land or people who can claim this!!!!!

Ilayaraja's contribution to the song with the guitar piece is a published fact. Lata always said that Salil's tunes are different that others. For me, each song from Madhumati holds so much melodic attraction. Dilip and Vyjayantimala were such a perfect romatic couple under the direction of the incomparable director Bimal Roy.

Goddamn Yankee redneck! You don't have the energy to read, but you just have to voice your stupid opinion, don't you. How typical. Indians embarrassing themselves? Shouldn't you be embarrassed of what you did in Abu Ghraib? You Yankees are even worse than Polacks - no history, no culture whatsoever, just big egos, big yaps and a lot of hot air. What is your biggest musical accomplishment - the Beach Boys?
whether it is created by our great salil da or a genius polish musician, i will enjoy and appreciate the song with same love and excitement. it's really melodious. I do not bother too much whether the first creater was an Indian or Polish. Music has not country, no boundary, no race.

are ye kon poland wale chutiya log aa gaye he. bloody madarchodo agar itna great music he tumhara to yaha kya land pakadne aaye ho comment likhne. hollywoood and bollywood are well known in the world where is polish shit, i never heard of it. u fackin slave of russians. we got away from boots of british but u are still mentally sick and under the boot of russia. Meanwhile US is also interested in ur ass by putting some missile. Who knows where is poland.
You Indians have some chutzpah! It's an old Polish folk song, period. As to the disparaging remarks about the Polish people in this thread, look at your own history first. After all, your great Mohandas Gandhi was an illegitimate child of a Polish nobleman (yes, go look it up!). Had it not been for us, you would've remained under the British boot where you heathens rightfully belong. Too bad the Muslims failed to finish the job during the partition.
thanks for the information about poland. and sorry for the comment above which is nothing but so much trash. of course it is a beautiful tune and the song is set to that tune. love it. there are many hindi songs that are based on european tunes and so much the better for it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You Poles are the illegitimate children of Germans and Russians. FACT. In 1939 both Germany and Russia raped your country, invaded Poland and history records that Hitler's Nazis and Stalin's Red Army perpetrated horrific atrocities on the Polish people. German and Russian soldiers raped Polish women at will and the numbers are staggering. Read your own humiliating and shameful history. In the music world a lot of copying goes on and I agree. But don't talk shit about us when you are in shit.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It is a Hindi song. The only things Polacks are famous for are stealing, whining, and lack of personal hygiene. All "famous Polacks" have been stolen from others - you stole Copernicus, F. Chopin, and Marie Curie. Stealing is the closest you will ever get to culture. Not that I blame you - what could a bunch of inbred illiterate semi-retarded peasants have accomplished in two decades since "independence"? John Lennon sang "Women is the n-r of the world" - obviously, he hadn't met any Polacks.
You retarded piece of shit! How dare you question the Polish sense of hygiene? Do you have any idea that the great contributions of Poland to the world include soap; anti-dandruff shampoo; and mosquito repelling ointment (not the horrible white one but the lovely pink one which smells of violets!)? In fact, the last one was invented by Marie Curie herself, who gifted a tube to Nils Bohr when he went to USA
...and when Bohr reached the USA, the tube mysteriously disappeared. After a year, a patent for this same product was applied for by Mr. J.C. Patel of Jamnagar, Gujarat!
Stolen from India? Haha, don't make me laugh. Everyone knows that this was originally a Polish folk song... and at least the poles can sing; they don't need to record the song in a studio and then lip-sync it (badly) with the video like these amateurs have done. PS: How many people were murdered/shot/blown-up in the first five minutes of this Indian 'classic'?
It is true that lots of Old Raj Kapoor's film like Awara and other old Hindi film music tunes were liked and adopted by Eastern Europe countries like Poland and USSR in their music.
Dilip and Vijayanthimala in their best ever film, superb love story. She remains to me one of the sexiest indian actress ever, high calibre, different class and so natural. Pity she retired young.

I heard your polish tune. Its a very simplistic rambling and no where to be compared with this complex masterpiece.Any similarities if any must be coincidental.
The polish song is a folk song, so it would be simplistic. Salil Choudhary got "inspired" by the tune, but he remodelled to meet the tastes of Indians too. And he did a good job on it. His tune "dharthi kahe pukar key" is also an adapation of a russian march song. :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
50 years back poland was barely a country, what the hell are you guys talking about? You guys probably stole the song from us, considering Bollywood was quite popular in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe back in the days.
Do you have any sense of history buddy? Poland existed as a nation during the time of World War 2. Which was when India was a British colony. Salil Choudhary got "inspired" by very many tunes like these.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It might be adapted from your tune, but its a very beautiful song. The poetry and vocals in the song are as important as the tune, sometimes more important. You can't understand that because you're polish.
It is a folk song,so a copyright problem does not exist.Nobody stole it,somebody just got inspired.I guess you would have to up your attitude(and your language while you are at it)to understand it=)
Wooow!! What a nice song.... These songs ,actors, singers... will forever remain in our hearts... New songs, movies cant compete with these old ones...
Beautiful version of the song. I actually like it more than the polish one, but I guess one wouldn't exist without the other. Cultural diversity is where it's at. And the mix. That's where globalization was supposed to take us; not to McDonald's.
It is a wonderful song till today!!!!!!!

This is Polish Folk song from the First XIX century. from Silesia region.
It is truth that some comments are stupid. But why you attend that is unimportant from where is originates song??
Why is necessary to buy up laws to play somewhere any song. Imagine that in Bolywood are singing now the song of Lady Gaga.
THE WAR Hindu - Gaga. Well, stop to write stupidities who cares from where the song is, because US POLES cares a lot..
And unfortunately this can be a Plagiarism, MUSIC BY SALIDA??

John Lennon sang "Women is the n-r of the world" - obviously, he hadn't met any Polacks.
truearyan666 3 years ago
You retarded piece of shit! How dare you question the Polish sense of hygiene? Do you have any idea that the great contributions of Poland to the world include soap; anti-dandruff shampoo; and mosquito repelling ointment (not the horrible white one but the lovely pink one which smells of violets!)? In fact, the last one was invented by Marie Curie herself, who gifted a tube to Nils Bohr when he went to USA
proudtobepolish2007 3 years ago 2
...and when Bohr reached the USA, the tube mysteriously disappeared. After a year, a patent for this same product was applied for by Mr. J.C. Patel of Jamnagar, Gujarat!
proudtobepolish2007 3 years ago

Many thanks.
ravindragokhale 3 years ago
The polish song is a folk song, so it would be simplistic. Salil Choudhary got "inspired" by the tune, but he remodelled to meet the tastes of Indians too. And he did a good job on it. His tune "dharthi kahe pukar key" is also an adapation of a russian march song. :)

Salil Choudhry just 'lifted' this tune from the Polish folk song "Szla dzieweczka do gajeczka"

50 years back poland was barely a country, what the hell are you guys talking about? You guys probably stole the song from us, considering Bollywood was quite popular in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe back in the days.
kittyqueen7 3 years ago
Do you have any sense of history buddy? Poland existed as a nation during the time of World War 2. Which was when India was a British colony. Salil Choudhary got "inspired" by very many tunes like these.

It might be adapted from your tune, but its a very beautiful song. The poetry and vocals in the song are as important as the tune, sometimes more important. You can't understand that because you're polish.
Greetings from Pakistan!

It is a folk song,so a copyright problem does not exist.Nobody stole it,somebody just got inspired.I guess you would have to up your attitude(and your language while you are at it)to understand it=)

It's oryginally a polish folk song. "Goes a girl into the wood" - it's the polish title :)

I thought it was Hungarian. Is it Polish then? What is the title in Polish?

Szla dzieweczka do laseczka (read like: shwah je - veh - chckah doh lase- chckah - more or less...) :)

Beautiful version of the song. I actually like it more than the polish one, but I guess one wouldn't exist without the other. Cultural diversity is where it's at. And the mix. That's where globalization was supposed to take us; not to McDonald's.
