  • Nobody actually tells people that they're gonna puke up their food.

  • Shawn Johnson doesnt have that problem She is strong and she still can eat!!!

  • what is with that one mum who is constantly competing with everyone else, it's the daughters that are competing, so WHAT if someone else's is doing well, not much you can do about their hard work and dedication

  • pull her out!! then and there she would have been slapped in the face and pulled out of that gym.

  • No! Ice cream comes up easy! She should have gone

  • The girl who is deaf in this movie was an actual gymnast in real life.

  • @marieked Go Cougs!

  • @titanramfan Ha! I've been posting the same sentiment on here! Rise and Shout!

  • Really is the foul langauge truly necessary? By the way, are any of you parents or even gym moms? There is a lot of rude criticism on here.

  • ugh i hate that mom -.-

  • bitch, if she says she's not hungry, you can't force her, ugh stupid bitches these days. mom's never fucking learn. /:

  • @ShawnaLovesPenguins if shes starving herself then yes, her mom has a right to force feed her. it doesnt matter if shes a gymnist. she needs to eat to get energy

  • @he3rtbrok3n but at the same time forcing her to eat just causes her to push back harder. She's a teenager...it's in her nature

  • that was so unrealistic with her not bothering to hide her eating/weight issues from her mum

  • It's not weird that a deaf girl is in a movie. She's not mentally retarded, she just can't hear.

It doesn't mean she can't move her body like everyone else.

  • @saturdaysghost I think when people wonder if deafness effects her it's because the inner ear effects your balance. That's what vertigo ( dizziness ) is caused by, inner ear fluid levels. So if she can't hear her balance could be effected.

  • @JESSsuckItTV Well, I have Meniere's disease, so I happen to know that there are TWO nerves in the inner ear and that the inner ear has TWO jobs. If I decided to opt for the surgery where they sever the balance nerve (and my good ear would eventually take over the function of both ears), the drawback would be possible damage to the hearing nerve, a risk I'm not willing to take at this point. Her hearing nerve is affected, not the balance one...and she is a real life gymnast.

  • uhhhh don't most girls with an ED try hiding it for a while. I can't believe she said that

  • I used to be a high level gymnast and when I was 14 and my parents found out I was throwing up they didn't really do anything about it. They asked me about it and I just told them I would stop. They threatened to pull me out, but never did. Its easier than you think to pull the wool over your parents eyes.

  • i thought the dad was for this and now he is talking smack about it

  • I remember when my mum was forcing me to eat, but I already ate just before I got home but she didn't belive me.I said that if I eat anything I would trow it all up, but she was still forcing me. S I ate. Then I just couldn't hold it anymore after half of a plate so I just threw it all up on the floor next to the table. yeah. she never forced me to eat again.

  • what year was this movie made

  • @ek97ym 1997

  • This coach is based on Bela Karolyi, who in my opinion, wasn't as bad as people thought he was. Ask Kerri Strug.

  • @liza92685 Sure he wasn't. Just ask the Romanian girls from the 1980-1984 quad.

  • @happyjellyfish Nadia still speaks very highly of him and they are still friends to this day.

  • @liza92685 and what's your point? Nadia was incredibly successful & has made a life for herself within gymnastics even after retirement , and she needs an image to maintain. Go see what Emilia Eberle has to say about him, and then the rest of that quad. The fact is that Romania is still asking for Karolyi to be sent back for abuse but the US is too happy with him producing gold medallists. Sick.

If you're too lazy to google, just type in worldgymrank IOC

  • I can NOT believe the DAD is complaining after HE was the one who pushed this whole mess in the first place.. He has nerve.

  • i know same with my mom. she would freak.....well i have thrown up before because of tht but...long story

  • i know same.

  • My friend is a gymnast, and she is soooo freaking skinny, but she eats so much food. But, she burns it off quickly because she has gym practice everyday from 7am-12 and VARSITY softball from 4pm-7pm every mondays wednesdays and fridays. the only day she doesn't do gym is sundays....and she is only a level 8. during the school year she has gym from 5am-7am :O

  • this is only the beginning..

  • awe thedeaf girl is such a cutie :)

  • @Chiiyoxox and i read on IMDB she's a real life olympic gymnast

  • @FanOBarbaro Gotta say it again...Go Cougs! Yea, Aimee Walker!

  • I have never understood how athletes think that they can push their bodies to the absolute limit on little or no food! That's like trying to drive a car cross country on one tank of gas! Food is fuel for the body. I am glad to see that things are changing for the better, though.

  • Diana is a sweetie!

  • omg katies face when she told her mom she knew what she was doing.. scary!!!

  • ok, the fact that she is acting all mentally ill already even though she hasn't even started starving herself yet. They're like freaking out and there's not even a problem yet! ANNOYING!

  • I just noticed, the street that they're driving on is the street that I used to live on in Burbank.

Ah man gymnastics is so pushy. Starving yourself is definitely not the way to go.

  • WOW WHAT A BAD ACTING!!!!!

  • yeah hardwork is ok but sometimes its too much at times....thanks for the great movie.....

  • can anyone reccomend a good gymnastics or ice skating or gymnastics movie that is not any of the following: Stick it ice princess Perfect body

  • @67PandaLover Wel, its not either one, but i did like Dying to Dance thats a really good one.

  • thanks! I'll watch that!

  • @67PandaLover go figure!

  • 85 pounds! she is small ayway the weight is fine! what concerns me is that she thinks about throwing up! I mean i had similar thoughts when i started high jump! You had to find the balance of having strong leg muscels/stomach muscels and keeping your weight downnto a minimum! I mean you have big pressure on your shoulders!

  • "although katie's not as photogenic" what a BITCH!! i wouldve slapped her cross the face.

  • meeeee toooo

I was about to go to some inpatient program at Princeton

  • wow she reminds me of me the deaf girl and the eating part. Wow i still remember when i forced myself not to eat what does my mom do :O Threathens me to the hospital if i don't eat.

  • Honking at a deaf girl... good one. Sheesh.

  • If my kid started refusing to eat, that'd be the deal breaker or me. I'd snatch her butt out of that program so fast. No ifs ands or buts about it.

  • omfg...shes so SHORT. This makes me feel like an amazonian

  • haha makes me feel like yow ming

  • omg if i told my mum i would eat all the food and throw it all up she would go spaz on me and pull me out of gymnastics! i cant believe she didnt do anything about it!!

  • @flipingymnastkristy

    SAMEEE :(

My mom would do the same, but I would die if she did that.

  • @flipingymnastkristy Same here

  • Comment removed

  • @flipingymnastkristy You are totally right. If my kid tells me that, I would do exactly the same: so you cannot it because of gymnastics? Then no more gymnastics for you, girl. Period. Gymnastics (or anything) cannot go before your health. And you NEED to eat to keep going, because food is the fuel we need to function. You do not have to eat all, you can skip some carbs and eat more green salads and proteins, but you HAVE to eat. If you want to loose weight you go to a nutritionist.

  • @flipingymnastkristy something like that needs to be handled with care otherwise the kid might be thrown over the edge!

  • @flipingymnastkristy haha, yeah. I'm not even in gymnastics and if I told my mum I did that she'd freak out! It's hard to watch your weight and be a competitive athelete!

  • @flipingymnastkristy Same with my Mother!!!

  • @flipingymnastkristy White parents are funny...lol.

  • Yeah, I agree.

  • They're so patronizing to the deaf girl...she's not brain damaged she just can't

  • perfection, perfection... no one is perfect

  • you tell that to nadia comaneci xD

  • Comment removed

  • I know this is a serious scene, but at 1:45, her face was hilarious.

  • omg i know

i really didnt want to laugh at her, but i snickered and i felt so bad for it afterward haha

  • me too

  • the deaf girl's dad doesnt seem too friendly

  • this video seems to have stopped working?

  • I hate the coach

  • the coach can b caring at times

  • When they do good.

  • not really unless they are PERFECT at everything, which is impossible.

  • she is such a brat

  • katie?

  • yup

  • lol that gym sucks

  • i love this

  • this stuff was more common years ago

  • a long time ago it was like this, but now coaches know the pain since they went through it.

  • This is typical of so many parents and other "concerned" people who don't realize that if you're going to be Elite, there are major sacrifices. If nobody made the sacrifices, there would be no world-class gymnasts, just a bunch of dumbass ass teenage girls talking on cell phones and thinking they have a life.

  • That girl Diana looks a bit like Yelena Zamolodchikova, the Russian gymnast

  • Lol. When the mom and Diana's dad are gonna go to coffee it looks like they're gonna date. But I know it's not like that. xD Is it?

  • Wow, so that all happened fast.

She gets this new coach and that same week, if you dare make her eat then she's "going upstairs to throw it up"!

There's no build up to her eating disorder. It all feels very 'dramatic teen'.

  • Yeah, it's stupid. But, I guess it's cos this movie isn't focused on an eating disorder, it's just focused on the pressures of being a gymnast. Whereas, "Perfect Body" for example was a movie just based about an eating disorder, so it was more realistic, and it didn't just happen "overnight"

  • i just realized that the coach in this movie also plays the role of a gymnastics coach in law and order:svu....anyone else notice that?

  • yeah I remember that one I love SVU!!

  • lolol @ the scene at the dinner table.

it reminds me of the cartoon rudolph when mrs. clause is angry at mr. clause for not eating enough.

jeez like, your daughter is refusing to eat and telling you if she does she'll throw it up and your all, "its okay, eat ! lawlz :DDD"

daaa fuucckk kinda mom are you ?

  • Exactly! I'd take my daughter straight home.

My sister had anorexia for 5 years: it's a nightmare. I would take my daughter straight home adn she'd never do gymnastics again.

  • this guy is suck and ass

  • he gets better at the end if ur talking about her dad

  • He sold everything he owned to support her training? That is so stupid. How can an intelligent father give up everything they have and live in a car? It's a NECESSITY to have a safe place to relax and groom yourself and it's a WANT for his daughter to do well in gymnastics. Ridiculous.

  • have you read Joan Ryan's book?

A father DID actually do that for his daughter, but I can'T remember if she was a gymnast or a skater.

I suggest you read the book it is really good.

  • its a skater not a gymnast

  • This movie is certainly not as good as Perfect body! There are no build up scenes to her getting insulted by the coach regarding her figure for her to even be worried about her diet that much. In my opinion there was more in depth to Perfect body than this one.

  • I agree..it wasn't as in depth as Perfect Body. But not a bad movie either..this is one I haven't seen..so thx for uploading!!!

  • I had mixed feelings on the part where Katie saw her old coach. I don't think Katie was trying to imply that Terry was holding her back. And I think it was okay for Katie to tell her how she was doing. However, I do think Katie could said it differently, and maybe even made some time to spend with Terry. I do think the Dad was a little to hard on Katie about it though.

  • at the end wen all the girls were laying around ha! my coach would kill us 4 bein that disrespectfull we4 have to stand smallest to tallest with r shoulder down and back, stumache in, feet 2gether every time he gives us "lectures" more like screaming in our faces

  • how is yhe deaf girl meant to know about the competition he doesnt sign for her

  • There is a woman standing behind him, you can see her signing for the girl in some of the scenes.

  • Alot of deaf ppl can lipread. Thats what I rely on most because most ppl I communicate with don't know sign.

  • this movie is so weird, you dont just show up at a new gym and become elite, was she an elite gymnast at her old gym?

  • i don't think it was written to imply that she suddenly became an elite - she seemed to already be doing well, i guess the new coach probably was trying to get everything she already had to perfection & add difficulty - she was already performing & winning at the old gym.

kind of like in "perfect body" the routines are called "elite" when in reality these skills aren't what an olympic-level gymnast would be doing... for the most part, anyway.

  • Why, in every movie like this, is the father portrayed as an enabler?

  • yeah and the mom and daughter are always so close..it's pretty strange seeing a relationship like that

  • it's because it's an 80's movie

  • No it's not it was made in 1997. It's because it's a Lifetime movie :P

  • The dad says nobody said anything about choreographers or tutors, I remember the dude saying something in the beginning, didn't he?

  • lol yeah he did

  • not all DEAF kids can

  • anyone know where i can get this movie on DVD?

  • She's playing herself. She's actually deaf, and blind in one eye.

  • wow, dude, you post this on almost every part of this movie...obesess much? fucking pervert pedophile

  • you deserve to go to jail. Why on earth would you talk about children like that

  • UHHHH everything I wrote was spelled CORRECTLY

  • No capitol letters at the beginning of the paragraph, no question marks, and so on. That is not correct writing, stupid. Assholes like you kill the English language.

  • lol you are a fucking sick retard!!!!!!!!!

  • You just keep fucking it up and proving my point, ass wipe. Keep it that way.

  • That is not spelling, thats grammar you mean.

  • Could we please focus on the little girls? XD

  • Then perhaps you should learn how to spell "capitAl" properly.

  • Then perhaps you should learn how to spell "capitAl" correctly.

  • Calm down Speedy Gonzales...

  • It only helps if you don't compromise your strength in the process of losing extra pounds, otherwise losing more is useless for tumbling and pretty dangerous.

  • its absolutely untrue. if you look at gymnasts like tasha swikert (sp??) she goes SO high and has huge thighs to do it with. svetlana khorkina is super thin and can barely get off the ground

  • 1:26 - 1:33 ughh why would she tell her mom that!! bad move! so much for hiding it

  • funny how in part 1 the mum said she shouuld stay and the dad said she shuld go and now the mums says stay at new gym and dad says go back to old
