It was actually the same day Dio died, they played a tribute to him as well.

Hypocrisy is easily one of the single best death metal bands ever . Lets also not forget to mention that Peter Tagtgren single handedly crafted the sound of over 20 Swedish Metal Bands including In Flames, Amon Amarth, and Dark Tranquillity.

Somehow however Hypocrisy is constantly overlooked in every Top 10 Death Metal list.

pretty much. hypocrisy drifted away from black metal when they changed vocalists.

also, it's obvious that this is death metal just by listening... have you heard the guitar riffs and double kick @ 0:30?. that's token death metal right there.

it is quite melodic for death metal though, but despite hypocrisy being a "melodic death metal" band nowdays, I wouldn't say the album is really heavily melodeath, it's definitely more trad. death.

good stuff though.

Awesome song indeed, but im afraid you are wrong about the song being about "the christian god through his eyes" its more of along the lines of a serial killers mantra. the fictional being "god" would never chant "kill" or "i want to see you bleed", christianity, like all religions, are inherently evil but mask it using the guise of peace and love
