Get one thing straight; Male/Female is not the same thing as Boy/Girl. Male/Female is a label biologists use to label the chromosomal and physical differences between members of a species. Boy/Girl are labels that describe gender.

I see that there are huge discrimination problems out there, and transgender people are still facing a lot of it because people are unaware of the reality of transgender issues. Not everyone is born that way, and there is no reason that a girl with a penis should be forced to live as a boy. She is a girl regardless of what is between her legs. This is the 21st century. Taylor, in the original video clearly was reading from a script, likely one she didn't even write. So we can give "credit" where it's like due: her parents and maybe her right-wing church.
Taylor put duck tape over the troop number on the GS sash. That way we can't confirm if she was EVER in a Girl Scout troop. Showing one's sash while duck taping it is shameful at best, and an inappropriate use of a GS sash.
Ironic how Taylor wishes to protect her privacy and invade others.

I see no reason why they should not be allowed in the girl scouts if they identify as girls. @lwegleitner1981 No, these are not boys who think they are girls. These are girls who don't necessarily have exactly the same body type as other girls who are genetic female. Get one thing straight; Male/Female is not the same thing as Boy/Girl. Male/Female is a label biologists use to label the chromosomal and physical differences between members of a species. Boy/Girl are labels that describe gender.

@shamartube Furthermore, Gender is a social construct that we use to label the traits of masculinity or femininity in our species, and it is not always concurrent with the genetic male/female differences. Gender is not based on what is between a person's legs anymore than their taste in television shows is. Do some research on transgender issues and you will get a better understanding of this. It's not "hype", it is based on real evidence.

And as more and more studies are published on a given subject, the bad research is pointed out, the valid research with strong external validity stands out, and a consensus forms. @lwegleitner1981 I've looked into this area of study quite a bit because I'll have my psychology degree in a few months and gender studies is one area that I'm considering perusing for my graduate studies. I see that there are huge discrimination problems out there, and transgender people are still facing a lot of it because people are unaware of the reality of transgender issues. Some of the things you've said display that very thing.

All I can say is look up your local college, email an expert on gender studies and GLBT issues, and educate yourself on the facts and what we've learned in the last few decades since Alfred Kinsey started the movement to study this sort of thing. Talk to trans girls themselves. You might be surprised what you'll learn.

Not everyone is born that way, and there is no reason that a girl with a penis should be forced to live as a boy. She is a girl regardless of what is between her legs. This is the 21st century. We've learned that gender is not even strictly binary. It's not even limited to just male & female. There are some cultures that have several genders. Let people be who they are.

In case you've been living under a rock somewhere, fyi, any person can have sex with persons of any gender or sex that they are attracted to. Some people have sex with the opposite sex, some people have sex with the same sex, and the sex of the partner doesn't matter to some. Also, if she decides when she is older to get SRS (Sexual Reassignment Surgery), it's always an option.

She could be straight, she could be a lesbian, or she could be bi, just like any other girl. I don't see how you have me on any ropes, sexual interest doesn't change your gender identification. If she were interested in girls (I'm not saying she is) it doesn't make her a boy any more than it would make you a girl if you were interested in boys.

I think the girl who did this is doing this for the aMAZE book, which says that they have to try and make a change in the world, but I'm still not fully okay with what this girl did. It makes me feel bad to be a girl scout and know that there are scouts out there like her who are so against girls scouts having boys in their troop.

I must've missed the hate and prejudice badge when I was a girls out. Having a penis does not make you dangerous. Preaching a boycott to promote hate and fear *does*. @rewstargazer She's fourteen and was likely coached heavily on her post; the quality of the video and backdrop, together with the terminology and reference to the rulebook clearly shows an adult hand or two in this, meaning someone is telling this little girl that those with a penis are inherently dangerous to her and the younger members of Girl Scouts, who she should feel a strong drive to protect. Someone raised her concerns and set the stage for her to be the spokesperson of their hatespeech.
