On one hand we have "touching stories" like Carmen's "GIRLS GET IMMUNISED OR YOU WILL BE IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN" and on the other we have "reassurance" from screening programmes "Girls! It is only a little bit uncomfortable to have a colposcopy! It's is not that painful to have a cone biopsy! Stop worrying!'
You want us to have PAPS and jabs, fine. Talk to us like adults and enough with the fairy stories.
this is so stupid!!! I got the hpv vaccine...I have had one boyfriend (same with him)....we're married now and....after years of pap tests - i was recently told I had an abnormal pap test - so this is a false hope in regards to protecting against cervical cancer...
I am now aged 60 years and had a cone biopsy 32 years ago, we were not so informed then, sometimes I think we know too much now! Okay yes it was uncomfortable and not the nicest thing to happen, but it saved my life. I went on to have a son 15 month later, full term. Have just had a colposcopy yesterday and had 2 polyps removed. No going into hospital and over in a matter of half an hour. Such a change from all those years ago.
@Englishteapot29 I feel the same way. Just anger. I got HPV from my current boyfriend who got it from his ex. She told him but it was too late. I had already been infected. Now I have to suffer for it.
I noticed this was posted a year ago.....how are you now? How did the surgery go?
I'm 24, never had children and pretty shy about sex but I found out I have HPV about 2 1/2 years ago. I've had 1 biopsy and have been monitoring it but my body doesn't seem to be "fighting" it....although I've been told that happens from time to time.
My current boyfriend of 3 years got it from an ex girlfriend who informed him when it was too late.
I might now have to have surgery....and I'm terrified.
I found out that I have HPV at my last doctor's visit. I was a virgin when my bf and I began sleeping together. He had been with 7 others... so we knew it was from one of them. i wasn't mad at him, he was very upset... it's a long road.. my colposcopy is on may 12th.
My girlfriend went through the same she had abnormal pap. She cheated on me and got HPV. She is alive and well. I dont speak with her given what she did. They took two samples for biopsy from the colpocsopy and she said it wasnt bad pain wise. Let me know how you are.
What makes you think that she got it because she cheated on you?
I have been with my other half for 8 1/2 years, and neither of us have cheated. I have only just developed abnormal cells on my cervix (CIN 3).
It really angers me that people associate HPV with cheating, sleeping around when 85% of adults will have had it at some point in their lives. HPV can be transmitted even when using condoms.
Were you a virgin when you met her? If not, it is possible that you did this to her.
i'm 23, i found out last year that i had abnormal cells on my cervix, i got terribly emotional, didn't know who to tell, didn't know what to do... i had a colposcopy which was horrible, i then found out that i was CIN3 and that i needed surgery urgently. the doctors got me in about a week later for surgery. i was very happy with the way that i recovered. i had no pain and no bleeding, but i was still a little emotionally overwhelmed about the whole situation.
