They go to a doctor, get a prescription simply by telling them they're feeling a certain way and they get their drugs and that's that, but they have absolutely no idea what they're doing to themselves and they're unwilling to try other avenues.

I can only speak for myself. I was on the drug Paxil for about three years. It turned me into a completely different person. Looking back, I feel foolish and ashamed that I was that way. I spent way too much time at the computer obsessing on what I thought was an internet love. It was ridiculous and so different from how I am normally. I wonder if these drugs have this effect on certain types?

The argument is specious whether the person got violent *after* going off his psychiatric meds.

The key point is that, whether teh violence occurred on meds or off meds, he was never violent *before* taking meds.

Parents, put a lot more time into talking, understanding, hand-holding, *listening*.

And the latest news is that the drug companies are under-reporting the "medical studies" that turn out negative for their drugs. They only tell you about the most favorable studies!

The public has been hoodwinked by psychiatry and Big Pharma into believing that chemical imbalances exist in the brain. To date there is no test that can detect all these various chemicals or what is their proper balance, given that they could detect them. There are quite a few non-drug mental therapies available that work and should be used. The World Health Organization found that mental patients did much better in third world countries where psych drugs weren't available than in the US.
