Psychiatry way of making a grieving person happy

My family passed last year and my doctor asked me if I wanted a "HAPPY PILL"...

I know people that must be locked up without their medication. Many people could not function in society without their medication. My brother has "post dramatic stress syndrome/ shell shock. He gets wild and crazy without his medication. A girlfriend and her daughter would laugh then cry uncontrollably if they skipped their pills. Some people need medication for real.

After my mother died, my dad was prescribed Paxil. It worked alright. Made him real happy. So happy, he began throwing money away left and right. We finally caught him before he destroyed his bank account. There is enough left take care of him until he dies, but that's it. Nothing left for the kids or grandkids. Thanks, Paxil. You really improved his life (not). Damn all headshrinkers and their wonder drugs to hell.

first of all, grieving isn't normal, its just something that happens after loss that you can take drugs to NOT go through. why go through pain like that? you don't have to.

second, i've taken two of the drugs you listed here. one of which i'm still on and works for me in helping numb my senses to the pain of this world. that's the POINT!

the lawsuits a drug has is irrelevent if it works for you. the bottom line is you didn't get anything out of these drugs, so you're pissed. but meds are good

It happens alot. Do your own research. Not only can they officially drug someone, but they can use coercive force to do so. "Mental patients" are often sensitive and try their best to avoid confrontation. Professionals tend to have a domineering attitude when it comes to patients, the exact opposite of the food industry's "The customer is always right." attitude. If there's a psychiatrist/ologist who feels his/her patient needs meds, it's almost always the case that they will be forced on meds.

Just to add this in as well-my ADD meds, depression pills, and hospital trip were all recommended by my family doctor. The last time I went to a psych before my depression really hit hard was 14. He wanted me to take Ritilin for my ADD, I said "No"-because I wanted to be 'normal'. He never pushed the issue again.

See, it's all about social dynamics; alot of patients aren't very assertive, and many fear their doctor because of that. He may have never pushed the issue for social reasons. And even then, there are exceptions for EVERYTHING, and to not accept this situation as an exception is foolish.

I'm am truly happy for you. But you need to aknowledge that what happened to you is nothing short of a miracle. I, too, was convinced that I had depression. I was put on Zoloft, and I felt nothing. I came to realize that, since I am experienced on drug use, that Zoloft is not a drug, therefore not medication, therefore a placebo. I also came to realize that my "condition" was caused by something called "Kundalini Rising", which was caused by psychedelic drugs. Yogic practices are what cured me.

I had two friends in highschool that were forced into psychiatric institutions because they got in trouble with the law. One of them was abducted in the middle of the night while he was ASLEEP IN HIS BED! He fought back but they were too strong and they put him in a fucking psyche ward with schizophrenics! it was shocking. We went to visit him and he said they were trying to force him to take drugs but he was too defiant so they claimed he was violent and dangerous. Fuck psychiatry!

I know of one parent who placed her son on respirdel one week prior to him testifying in a custody case. The mother had a history of herself taking anti depressants. First for post partum and then supposedly for post traumatic stress disorder for imaginary abuse from her ex husband. How could a woman who is unstable and on medication be allowed to place her child on medicine? Her argument - I had a prescription. Sure, after 8 different doctors for this poor kid, someone was willing to drug him.

Your issues could most definitely have been solved with fewer medications. It looks to me like they were just trying to cover up the effects of the Paxil (prescribed for the PTSD that you likely suffered from as a result of your mother's passing) with more drugs, and layering more on as a result of unforseen side effects.

how about trying everything else but drugs first - teaching more in schools- instead of just drugs go for LEARNING HOW TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE? check that first, give them some tests,- like in high school, what are all these things you can eat good for? exercising facts/myths, mental health EXERCISES/brain training- substance facts/myths- not just what the government says example- marijuanna causes brain damage etc, according to the documentary The Union that is not true i wouod watch that look down

easy because I refused to give in and submit to the

oh dear!!I had a similar experience to you(my fathers death)A bereavement can cause us to behave in different way,it's not an illness.What is so awful is that the psychs use the label as an excuse to hospitalise again,their explanation?....that you need treatment.BARBARIC & HUMILIATING,especially when there are 6-10 people at your home,you have no choice.
