its normal that it backfires during cold. Do you use the cold engine switch on the carb when u cold start it? Start it with the switch pointing upwards, let it idle for like a minute and then switch it down and it should be revving nicely.

I think that your valves aren't adjusted correctly. Think that the suction (i dunno what is it english) valve, the one that takes the mixture in the cylinder, does not shut completely. But if it does that i think that it would backfire also on higher rpm when hot.

Cool, i have no mods just stock. let me know how yours goes. i need to adjust the carb. it back fires at low rpm and stalls. mostly when cold.
