Can you composite in Lightworks?

Hello - this seems like a basic question, but how can I crop video in Lightworks? I have had no problem with still images, but when I try to crop a video clip, it's "grayed out." Any ideas? Thanks - and btw, your tutorials have been invaluable!

is the color correction the same as vegas? because thats really important, i dont care about other effects.

@WWWarcticmonkeysCOM Really... If Lightworks is crap yet Pulp Fiction, Trueman show, The Departed, Bruce Alight, 28 Days Later and tons of other high profile films were edited with it then this is a new definition of "crap" I'm unfamiliar with.

That part about the effect at most lasting 90 something frames worried me. Is there a way to make the color correction last for the entire clip like in any other editing program?

@drcool41 i think that was an old beta feature because when i add an effect it is for the whole clip

@sayrith no, not at all. there are very few effects in Lightworks, and they are crappy at best. They don't offer anywhere near the range and customizability of After Effects or Vision Lab. Lightworks is an NLE, those are visual effects programs.

@wikidweasle I don't think they are anywhere near what Vegas Pro, After Effects, or Vision Lab can offer. However, they have some great options built in even if they are complicated to get working properly

@wikidweasle Keep in mind, LW is an NLE and meant as an EDITING application, not a visual effects package like some of those exmaples I mentioned

I find, in general, that working with Lightworks is not very precise compared to Sony Vegas. There's not even a scale on the timeline, if you want to place your clips at a certain time/frame without searching through the timeline...

Also: It does apparently not support the Fraps codec, even though it recognizes it...

@cbader92 whats keeping me interested to this free product, unlike others like Avidemux or PiTiVi is that Lightworks WAS a paid PROFESSIONAL suite, which makes it all the more valuable, and will give it a good name.Same thing happened with Blender. It was a paid pro suite, now its a free pro suite.

This video editing software is absolutely awesome! It is really right up there with Blender 2.56. Another awesome piece of software. Now....if I can master it? hmmm.
