why do some wiccans call the masculine entity "The Horned God", or something to that nature, others call him "The God" or simply "God", and others call him "The Green Man"? is there any differentiation between these titles? where does the pagan term "The Horned God" come from? and ive heard of contraversy over this belief in The Horned One as a wiccan, involving Gerald Gardner and legitimacy he claimed. what is your opinion of this?
@RedDragon033195 Generally the Wiccan God is seen as having different aspects, just as the Goddess is often seen as mother/maiden/crone. The God represents the physical world, and therefore represents all that dies and is reborn, especially that which gives its life so that we may live. The Green Man is the vegetative aspect, such as crops and forests. The Horned God represents the animal aspect, such as livestock or game. That is why you will often see the Horned God...
@RedDragon033195 in two different forms. The older is with the antlers of a deers and comes from when man hunted for food. When agriculture was developed, man domesticated livestock such as goats and cows, which is why you then see horned deities such as Pan. As for the legitimacy of beliefs, Gardner pieced together a few things to fill in gaps in the tradition he found, like combining many practices from ceremonialism into wiccan ritual, but there is abundant evidence that...
@RedDragon033195 many of the core beliefs far outdate Gardner's publications and can be clearly documented elswhere, such as in works by Charles Leland and archeological evidence, such as the cave paintings in France (which contain the oldest images of a Horned Deity). A book I highly recommend that thoroughly covers the entomology of Wiccan archetypes and beliefs is "The Wiccan Mysteries" by Raven Grimassi. This man has really done his homework and...

This is a good setup for the Vlog Chancellor. It is appealing by its clean simplicity.
