its actually got 2 endings. The writer wrote it to have two possible endings where he either had a melt down a played the murders in his head or he did kill all those people and the lawyer scene was in his head. I think it was a mix, i think he imagined paul allen being killed and the obsessive thinking about it made him to impulsively kill the bum and the prostitutes but i think the "running through the city and shooting everyone in sight" was shear fantasy
