sound accuracy for analog recordings goes 1st to tape, can't get better fidelity than reel to reel, second is vinyl with some good needles and a great turn table (1200's are not the best table for SOUND quality, great for durability though), Once you go to digital you LOSE sound fidelity, and there is no way around it... your ULTRA Highs are gone, however if the song is recorded digitally in the 1st place then its pretty accurate... then MP3's lose sound quality period, its a lossy format cheers

I played vinyl for 15 years....then the C.D. came along and I was a late converter....and it just takes the whole feel out of it.....I haven't touched my Pioneer CDJ's for 4 months but if it was my 1200's I would rush home from work excited.......technology has kicked the ass out of true talent..!

CDs, MP3s, WAVs, Wax.. They are merely tools. No one is better than the other innately. Tell DJ Craze he should give up vinyl just to loop easier, or tell Deadmau5 he should quit using computers because he's not beatmatching. It's all about what you are trying to do. Each attempt/tool has its wider capabilities and its limitations.

Guys wake up and smell the coffee..everyone uses cds because with tools like platinum notes you can actually improve the dynamics of the track before you burn it to make it sound better than vinyl. the usability of the pioneer cdj1000 far surpasses anything you can do with a technic and anyone that says different has never owned one. the fact that this is a discussion thats not even a month old defies belief..can you imagine a martinez brothers set on four technics 1210s lol!!

heavy, expensive, hard to get, not pratical nowadays! played records for 8 years but i'm complety into digital for the last 3 years. i have been playing wav's not mp3's and using serato! this is not not the future but the present! tiago, portugal

I can understand the cost and the weight factor but doesn't the music quality take a hit because of CD's? For example how do you scratch? And how would you scratch the way or close to the way you would with a record?

My main concern would be the quality of the mix.

Humm not really. If you buy WAV's instead of MP3's as I do, the sound quality is exactly the same of the original file used to make the vinyl. regarding to scratch, I'm not a turntablist, but the high end Pioneer cd players emulate a turntable so you can scratch the same way you scratch with a turntable. The jog wheel is smaller but the technique is the same just requires a bit more pratice. I was a vinyl junkie and i must say digital has much more advantages than disadvantages. Tiago, Portugal
