I'll tell you what, My brother just bought a Tenn walker/Quarter H. cross in march,he was green broke so I started working with him a lot...and I've noticed that this sucker can cut and turn on a dime better than any Quarter I've been on. So I started training him for barrels and he is doing great so far. I tell everyone that gets on him they better HANG ON when its time to turn each barrel.
damn right you dont need a QH for barrel racing. Tia reminds me of my arab mare. We used to run 14's on barrels. I prefer the saddle type horses over stock breeds, they seem to be more sure footed. hope that didnt offend anyone. she looks like she did some ass kicking in those videos :)

You guys are an amazing team! :) I agree with you. Barrel racing isnt about buying the most expensive horse thats registured up its ying yang. Its about the team work, bonding and friendship. My horse is an unregistured QH mare. We bought her for $1000 and she was a nod head. I worked with her and now she is the best horse on our farm. I run barrels, poles, gymkhana events and chase cows on her. She is such a sweetie.

Shes so quick and very pretty. I feel the same way. I payed 250 for my horse whose 3 now. ( 6 months when bought) and i did all her training by myself. now she's running good and getting quicker. check out my videos sometime.

my paint pony runs barrels and hes only like 13 hh :P and he loves it, and hes fast and my mare is ditzy and thinks shes delicate but when she sees i have barrels or poles set up she turns into a whole different horse

I think its great that a saddlebred is barral racing, it just shows that there not just good for shows and stuff, i have a seal bay saddlebred named Tink and I found out in one of my bareback lessons that he's pretty good at barrals, but he can't neckrein, but I would like to see what he could do if we ever move.

Saddlebreds are a determined breed, and will excel in everything you ask them to do, from trails, to show rings, to barrel racing. from saddle seat, to dressage, huntseats, western. they can work cattle, or 4h. I get so upset when people say it's a saddlebred.. eh you have a saddlebred. Im always like, yeah I got a saddlebred, and it can do ALL this, and what can you qh do? oh... yeah they just go fast. OWNED! right on and you do well with you "just saddlebred" LOOK AT ALL THEM RIBBONS!

WOW! You got yourself a good horse there! My old gelding i had was arabian/QH/standarded bred (what a mix huh!?!) but he was 25 and still running 17sec barrels! He'd died at 26 though. Also I use the same RW&B headstall tie down and breastcollar on my new barrel gelding!!!
I agree with you about any horse being able to do it! Sure I think that QH's are built better for it, but its possible for any horse no matter what shape or size. You and your horse make an amazing team!!

i so know how you feel. i have a thurobred and every time i ride him it feels like his turns are getting better. and u r so write its about the team and the heart to be a champion. it makes all the difference. our types of horses will soon be recognized as champions. and that they can keep up with the quarter horse. people have to recognize if a horse has winning bloodlines it dosent always mean that the will be champions/ winners. go out and do your best just meke us proud.

thats right you dont need a Qh to compete and win. i have a saddle mare that i run and when she wants to she can hang with the big dogs. there is a saddle horse that runs poles at our winter fest and she runs in the 19/18 second times. when the QH are running 20s n 21s. So you Go Girl

My Arabian is not a fan of running alone, but she does it for me when I ask--still waiting to tap into her 100% when she is not racing another horse, but we get faster every year. I think that anyone can force a horse to get addicted to running, but it takes a real team to excel in gymkhana games, and you did it very well. I am sure that by now, you have even gotten your third barrel turn further perfected. good job!

I love my appaloosa-he's still a bone head tho! lol. Is yours hard mouthed to stop? Mine is. He's easy on the turning, but hates to stop. Every appy I've ever had has been like that!
That's a good horse. I love those that stick their foot under them like that and sort of slide around the barrel!!! Good deal. *I used to barrel race a missouri fox trotter-lol-now i use an appaloosa.

wow, thats awesome. shes so FAST! You're right, you guys can beat any QH if you want to. My horse is a 20 yr old arabian and shes doing great in barrels!

i barrel race my tn walker and hes only 5 and still in trainin but our fastest time at a show is 20 secs and gettin faster!! but ya so true saddle horses cn b used 4 more thn just gaiten lol!! Legend my horse is very fast just lik ur horse tia lol!! yall r awesome together :D

Yes they can do ANYTHING! Even rope off of, sort cattle, trail ride, etc, they're very versatile! I think this is great!!! Best of luck!

my horse is a thoroughbred hes way faster no affence but u lokked good out there on her i ride western gaming i have a gaming horse show tomarrow on sunday and its my first gaming show ever i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

wow! she is so fast (& pretty)!!!! i run my Walking Horse in barrels (at fun shows) & hes a jumper. its nice to know that ASB people prove that saddlebreds can do more than gait.

WOW! You got yourself a good horse there! My old gelding i had was arabian/QH/standarded bred (what a mix huh!?!) but he was 25 and still running 17sec barrels! He'd died at 26 though. Also I use the same RW&B headstall tie down and breastcollar on my new barrel gelding!!!

I agree with you about any horse being able to do it! Sure I think that QH's are built better for it, but its possible for any horse no matter what shape or size. You and your horse make an amazing team!!

i so know how you feel. i have a thurobred and every time i ride him it feels like his turns are getting better. and u r so write its about the team and the heart to be a champion. it makes all the difference. our types of horses will soon be recognized as champions. and that they can keep up with the quarter horse. people have to recognize if a horse has winning bloodlines it dosent always mean that the will be champions/ winners. go out and do your best just meke us proud.

This video gives me confidence i have a saddlebred arabian... and i sold her to get a qh for western pleasure, and the ppl we sold her to were selling her so we bought her, and they were barrel racing her... and ppl r like ull get killed if u barrel race her. but she has amazing turns and shes got speed. My appy is running his last yr this season so the arabian saddlebred will be next! This video is amazing!! i LOVE saddlebreds, they are gorgeous!

Mine is top of 2D she doesnt look fast but her stride is amazin

Its ok!! lol its just gets me so mad when people fight over dumb this! lol Nope i trained tia the whole 9 yards. Tia is starting to be a 1D horse!! lol Paints can do just as good as a QH because i have a paint that im training and she can haul BUTT!! lol i saw your paint and its really pretty!! lol

thats right you dont need a Qh to compete and win. i have a saddle mare that i run and when she wants to she can hang with the big dogs. there is a saddle horse that runs poles at our winter fest and she runs in the 19/18 second times. when the QH are running 20s n 21s. So you Go Girl

My Arabian is not a fan of running alone, but she does it for me when I ask--still waiting to tap into her 100% when she is not racing another horse, but we get faster every year. I think that anyone can force a horse to get addicted to running, but it takes a real team to excel in gymkhana games, and you did it very well. I am sure that by now, you have even gotten your third barrel turn further perfected. good job!

thats cool my friend has a arabian and a hano that she barrel races (the hano isnt that good yet he is still training he cant make the turns) i tryed and he almost ran into the wall cause he slipped =P hahah

That's a good horse. I love those that stick their foot under them like that and sort of slide around the barrel!!! Good deal. *I used to barrel race a missouri fox trotter-lol-now i use an appaloosa.
