Cool!!! just love the Chinese music scene, I toured there in 2006 with my band JEF and in 2009 and 2010 with my new band K-Jell (check out videos from the tours here on You Tube), I will be back in 2011 for a new tour in China with K-Jell. China has a great scenen with a lot of good venues. I know is SUBS (Beijing) and SMZB (Wuhan), very good friends of mine. All our albums you can get from October Party Records in Beijing :)
Yeah,Yellow Banana had some great moments: pretty tunes like "Red Shoes" and fist-in-your-face punk like "Asshole, I'm Not Your Baby", but DDD was amore mature album and
didn't have a weak song (I was never big on the
Joplin cover tho'). I used to love drumming to the whole album -- just a great punk album.
I remember this from Benten's site. i always thought it was strange that only Wang Yue was in the video but I think she was the only one able to go to japan to do it(i beleive Audrey at Benten video'd it). Great tune. The whole Di Di Di album is stellar.

I agree, a much more mature effort. it's a pity that the band changed when the guitarist (Yang Fan?) left. They've got a more techno sound now than punk. Oh well...
I saw HTOB in New york in 2003: a good show butLi Yan Fan had left the band. They didn't play anything off Yellow Banana! I haven't heard much of them since DDD but they do have some techno type song on Myspace: not my thing tho'. "Summertime" is the cover on DDD, actually a Gershwin song that Janice Joplin is famous for. HTOB's version is very different
Oh I love that song. There are no songs on that album I dislike anyway. Yeah the new sound is not my thing. Pity really, they really had a good thing going there for awhile. Also pity I never saw them live.
Yeah, great album..."There Is A City", "Apologies", "Be My Seed"...some really great songs and a very strong album. I expected them to be much more aggressive live (perhaps in China they are) but they just sorta stood there and Wang Yue seem to be a bit uncomfortable, but that may have been a language issue. Still, I'm glad I saw'em.

Surprising shift from their earlier raw punk stuff--this sounds more like Dolly Mixture or Family Fodder! (Two bands I also love.)

I agree. I much prefer the Di Di Di album to Yellow Banana, tho I do love that song "You Lost Everything But It's Not My Fault" from YB.
