  • sadly, we arent going to be able to see new saabs on the road again

  • @TSDASaAa and now we all have to buy german cars... a few more decades and we will have bar code tattoos :-)

  • RIP new Saab 9-5, you would have been the most remarkable passenger car of the decade.

  • @ whattheheck1000

You are the dumbest person on earth ! Yes Saab makes their side airbags deploy in a frontal crash to protect ever more the occupants ( which is much better than many car makers today). And did you know that airbags uninflate a few seconds after being deployed, so occupants can get out of the vehicle without having an airbag in their way. You definitely know nothing about cars you idiot !

  • he doesnt even look harmed lol

  • @HandsomeJohan Saab is now independant !!

    God is witth Saabistes

  • Sadly, Saab wont make it to 2013 :(

    Atleast in the US.

  • lol dummys got no damage ...amazing ! other car makers have lots of things to learn from saab <3

  • 1:19 Acceleration test :)

  • @bonertime38 It helps during the crash event. But how the hell are the occupants going to get out after the crash with a curtain hanging over the window right where their head is supposed to pass through?

  • @whattheheck1000 first it is not shit as the curtain airbags prevent your head from rebounding into B pillar.

  • Safe, but the curtain airbags going off in the front crash is a shitty idea....

  • @whattheheck1000 MAYBE not, I think it's to prevent debris like broken glass.

  • @whattheheck1000 not necesserily volvo had this idea nearly 15 years ago in the S80 it's supposed to stop the glass from a shattered windscreen from going all over your face or in your eyes. Might not necesserily stop all the glass coming at you but it sure as heck must help abit, you'd be thankful to have it if you were to end up losing your eyesigbht as one guy on the radio did a few years back for that very reason.

  • @Samthebam4044 The S80, even the 2012 model, does not deploy its curtain airbag in a frontal crash.

  • The 2.8 V6 is currently used in the Cadillac SRX. The 4 cyl is used in various other cars, the "Hi-Per" front struts are yet another feature that has been marketed by GM (granted I'm not sure where else it is used.) Most GM cars these days are E85 capable. Remember the Opel/ Saab isn't the only car with the platform. Granted Saab has done a superior job in styling as well as tuning the various bits. It's like a Ford vs. a Lincoln. Didn't mean to diss Saab. Sorry.

  • THE BEST CAR!!

  • geile autos! da passiert ja garnichts!

  • Although its for the good cause, waste of a beautifull car!

    Btw Saab designed the insignia...

  • That's most impressive pole test I have seen so far.

  • unbelievable pole test! Very strong car!

  • now, this is very very good. Non gets killed by a Saab ever

  • @HandsomeJohan Hey! I used to be a GM loyalist but now preach about the dangers of buying one. You NEVER KNOW IF THEY WILL STOP PRODUCING YOUR MODEL NEXT! lol

I have an 08 Saab and love it and I'm glad to see Saab under European ownership. I hope GM goes bankrupt for good (to think they took $53 BILLION of our tax dollars! fuckers)

  • @DJFG85 Not only that but they too our tax dollas and used to the construct a plant in Mexico. I will never buy another GM product as long as I live, I would buy Lada or Yugo over GM

  • Will it inprove Saab now their new owner is Spyker Cars?

I would have loved it when Koenigsegg took Saab over from GM, it would have been a total ''swedish'' car, now it's 50% dutch

  • wow

  • Best seats in the biz.

  • 2009 Saab 9-5 the last real Saab.

  • This car looks modern, but it is rather ugly.

    I prefere an Audi A6

  • @HandsomeJohan

no man saab is property Spyker Cars but Spyker make only expensive super car gm is devil they kill saab and ford kill volvo

  • can i PLEASE SEE INSIDE THE DAMN CAR WITHOUT AN AIRBAG BLOCKING THE WINDOWS?

  • @whattheheck1000 lol rage, there are ups and downs to everything mate, in this case the airbag curtain thingys

  • Frontal and side tests: Windshield never even cracked. That shows a safe car!

  • @jrodigan5 Windshield did get cracked. And A-pillar bent. This car is not as solid as some of its competitors, but its still good.

  • @derbigpr500 You're right. I noticed that right after I posted that comment. I would still trust this car with me inside it. The air bags looked like they protected the occupants very well. I think one car that's got this beat is the Mercedes E-Class, but I haven't seen its test in a while.

  • @jrodigan5 The 9-5 appeared to outperform the E-Class. How the front of the car managed to survive so well is remarkable.

  • @derbigpr500 windshield cracket?dude look at opel the windshield is fucket up.other cars are shit compared with saab and volvo.

  • @munteanuioan Thats not true. These cars ain't safer then cars from VW, BMW, Audi, some Toyota's and Honda's.

  • @OranjeEINS You are just a drone who is fed everything you are told. Car safety isn't just about crash test scores, it's also about crash avoidance, something Honda and Toyota are terrible at. Trust me I know I used to own an Acura and it did a 360 spin out of nowhere. I'll only own a European car now.

  • @DJFG85 I have a wake up call for you both VW and BMW are German and therefore European. LOL. Your comment makes no sense what so ever. Your just another terrible US driver, don't blame the car for your mistakes!

  • @OranjeEINS Are you blind? I CLEARLY stated Honda and Toyota which are Japanese! Before lodging all these insults look at how retarded your own is! Please return to school and adapt reading as a hobby. Best wishes.

  • Great performance!!!!!

  • Easy on saab 95,wondered why not set 6 star for ultra safety car on the road?

  • Absolutely amazing. I can't see a ripple of damage beyond the A-pillar in the frontal offset test. The doors don't even move. As a Saab enthusiast for many years, I am always quick to blame GM for Saab's shortcomings, especially in recent models, but the new 9-5's leap forward in safety is really to their credit. I'll bet the new Buick LaCrosse performs just as well since it shares it's architecture with the 9-5. I can't believe I'm saying this, but well done GM.

  • how big are the airbags? what does the dummy movement look like?

  • @wil48823 Really amazing indeed! but... I bought a 9.3 in january and I can say that swedish designers and engineers...they do miracles! I only remember that i´m driving a GM car when I use some controls like AC or radio. They´re far from the precision of my 9000. But the driving is...delightful! Much better than the 2001´s version. Long live Saab!

  • @YS3Caero I own an '01 9-5 and I know exactly what you are talking about. My climate controls look like they were lifted right out of a Buick. But the important things like driving characteristics are still all Saab.

  • @wil48823 Great car! I had a ´01 9.3lpt. and the controls are of the same kind of your car and I don´t complain too much. I think you should try a 9.3 MY08! Things like the tachometer needle that has a small delay; climate, that minimum wind is too windy, minimum sound of the radio is too loud... it´s worth, cos that´s a great car.

  • coolest car saab ever did

  • This will definitely get a best pick on the IIHS test runs.

  • I just don't know how the occupants will get out after the frontal offset test. The windows are blocked by the curtain airbag. It is a safe car during the crash though.

  • The curtains are filled with air for 1/10 of a second, just as the frontal airbag. Then they are filled with air they expand alot.

Whe the air leaves the airbags they contract - Its basically just a bit of fabric hanging in the air, not a problem.

This is how airbags work in all cars =)

  • i can't see inside the car either. that's important to me.

  • @Pagelos more like a second, 1/10 of a second into the crash the driver's buried in the airbag. :)

  • Dang that car looks good in white! Very safe, the seats looked like the safest I've ever seen. Those curtain airbags really protect the occupants.

  • Saab rules... Im still waiting for the common idiots to find that out,,,

  • Well Saab has been sold!

  • Comment removed

  • Easily got 5 stars. I hope Saab gets sold because these cars are amazing.

  • @gobears1987 2009 VW Golf is safer and cheaper.

  • @OranjeEINS Say what?

  • @tgx4776 VW Golf has 97% Adult occupant and 84% child occupant score. Saab 9-5 has 94% Adult occupant and 80% child occupant. BMW 5 series 95% Adult occupant and 83% child occupant score and even 100% safety assist not that it has anything to do with impact as far as I can see. The two cars are better than the Saab and the VW Golf is way cheaper :)

  • @gobears1987 you do realize that the new 9-5 is an Opel Insignia right?

  • @comradealexie YES!!!!!!!!!

  • @comradealexie An improved Insignia!

  • @comradealexie the Opel guys certainly benefitted from Saab's R&D, but the best technology Saab kept for themselves. The 9-5 is longer and bigger, yet faster around the track. Plus better looking. According to Saab, 70% of the 9-5 is unique parts not found in other GM vehicles.

  • @bikedude74

Other way around. Opel used the platform first. And I honestly doubt that Saab has 70% unique parts. All major parts ARE from the GM parts bin. Including engines, transmissions, suspension, steering systems.

  • @ROFLmao35216 That GM chose to launch the Insignia ahead of the 9-5 does not negate the efforts put into the platform by Saab's engineers.

  • @ROFLmao35216

That GM chose to launch the Insignia ahead of the 9-5 does not negate the efforts put into the platform by Saab's engineers.

  • @bikedude74

True, but the claim's of a nearly unique platform are rather exaggerated. I still wish they'd put a bit more effort into the turbo V6...

  • @ROFLmao35216

Well, I have not taken my 9-5 apart and looked up all the part numbers, but at the end of the day, it doesn't drive like an Insignia. It doesn't look like an Insignia. Maybe it smells like an Insignia, but I put E85 in my 9-5 and I don't think you can do that on an Insignia since they have not adopted Saab's engine management software.

If you have some references to back up your claim, please share.

  • bring back Swedish cars to Swedish!!

  • to everyone this saab will make it to production because the swedish goverment and koenigsegg so it will be on sale next year in the spring

  • Swedish Automobiles Are Boss

    And this is no exception.

  • Sadly, the new 9-5, won't make to the production line thanks to GM's incompetence.

Goodbye Saab; we will miss you. :-(

  • @JELH , check the news again.

9-5 already released to production line while waiting the Spyker deal.

  • @JackZeroZ You think? From Euro NCAP website: "Child occupant, Based on dummy readings in the dynamic tests, the 9-5 scored maximum points for protection of the 3 year infant. Forward movement of the dummy's head was well controlled and both the 3 year and the 18 month dummies were properly contained by their restraints in the side impact."

  • @JackZeroZ

The baby become saved by airbag.

  • hmzwer mag mit mir zu chatn oder camn sagt einfach bescheid ja ^^

  • Not sure if this car will go into production

  • A wonderful work in sad days to all SAABISTS!

  • the dummy of the end has barriga jajaj

  • RIP SAAB.

  • i have been waiting for this for ages the old 9-5 was a safe car

  • brilliant safety

  • R.I.P Saab

  • WOW! I think it did amazing! Great car. The 9-5 looks good
