Well I think it is just a wonderful dessert and don't care who first created it as long as I can have the recipe. I give credit to the muse the helped some inventive cook think outside the carton of eggs. Maybe that muse should be a ballet dancer and she should get the credit.
I don't see why there needs to be an argument over it? Its just food .. lol .. Also, i just made my first pavlova, without a beater .. omg is my arm sore .. lol
Hmm...interesting. Sort of reminds me of the (equally ridiculous) "pizza war" in my country between New York (thin crust) and Chicago (deep-dish), to which I also respond "Who gives a $&%T?--I like 'em BOTH!" (Besides which, I'm from Texas, so why should I care?) :-)
Let me settle this fight once and for all between AUS and NZ.
A Russian Ballet Dancer visited Australia and New Zealand. She visited Australia and New Zealand in 1926 and Australia in 1929.
A biographer of Anna Pavlova, wrote that a New Zealand chef in a hotel in Wellington, New Zealand, created the dish when Pavlova visited there in 1926 on her world tour.
Pavlova is a token of creativity for people of both countries , inspired by the beauty and grace.
i couldn't agree with you more, why are people fighting over a dessert? if you think you know where it came from then that should be enough for you. you don't need everyone else to agree with you. especially when you are being abusive to people to try and prove a pointless point. wake up people, there are way more important things to worry about.
Does it really matter. It tastes good and that's what counts? I don't understand why anyone would really care if it came from New Zealand, Australia or the moon.
It was made by a new zealand chef in Wellington to commemorate anna pavlovas visit in 1926, she also toured in 1929. Your chef did not make his till 1933 - why so slow - plus in 1973 he admitted he took the basis for his from a new zealand cookbook. Our cookbooks are our evidence. It belongs to New Zealand.
It has been documented and named as pavlova in a number of New Zealand cookbooks from that time. There are no cookbooks from australia that predate 1935 so the evidence is clear.
Thanks for watching the video. Next time, try listening to it as well. You seriously need to stop creating YouTube accounts just to keep this nonsense going. You know I'm going to block you, so why bother?
We can only hope. I went through the pavlova video comments out of curiosity. My gosh to some people come out with some boring bulls**t...
Pavlova has been a tradition in my family for generations (it's been my job to do on every birthday, easter, christmas for the last 5 years... and we have a big family!)... nice to meet a fellow pav lover! haha
On a slightly less relative topic... i think your awesome. Your videos always manage to make me laugh. Just thought i'd throw that in there. =]
LOL quite possibly - that being said he seems to have gone off the boil. Perhaps he's finally got sick of creating a new account every few hours hehehe
Television nz did a small story a few months back under the title - the aussies now want our pavlova.
Some research was done and it was noted that the pavlova recipie appeared in nz cookbooks in 1926 and did not appear in any australian cookbooks until 1935. They noted that this is a recent phenom from our australian cousins and that pavlova was a kiwi creation. Unless your cookbooks can predate 1926 it appears that the pavlova was a new zealand creation.
Did you even watch this video? If you had - you would have worked out that I DON'T CARE where Pavlova comes from. Presenting me with "evidence" does not make me care anymore about this stupid debate.
It's only food - stop making it into something it's not.
I'm sorry mate, i love ur Videos but i stand by this, Pavlova was made in perth in a hotel by a chef for a famous ballarena of sorts because her last or first name was pavlova, block me if u wish i have heard this story from alot of different people but it IS and HAS been and australina desert ever since the french ballarena came to perth. (Story's a bit rusty but thats wat i remember).
I've heard many variations on this story, sometimes it's Perth, sometimes it's Melbourne, and Sometimes it's Wellington. I question if any version is correct - but in the end it's not important. It's just a dessert ;)
Holy hell. Some people just don't give up. You should just change the title and everything to refer to Azerbaijan and maybe it will settle down lol. That or declare martial law and let the video fall into the depths of trolling and online abuse hell.
I changed the title to "Pavlova (Australian / NZ Meringue Dessert)" but apparently that wasn't good enough. So I changed it back to the original title and I won't change it again out of spite.
OMG How sad of some people getting so upset about a silly Pavlova. I dont care were its from, Its nice to eat and that it. Some people are just sooooo sad. We love you david :)
I feel great now - I just needed to get it off my chest. It wasn't really that bad, I just found it irritating having all these comments coming in on this really silly subject ;)
Yeah you tell them! Why argue about which country it was made in? IT IS A FREAKING DESSERT not the most expensive car or airplane in the universe or something so please don´t start a third world war over a dessert okey? =)
PAVLOVA is Australia's national desert, Its a big deal because there have been prime ministers that have named it the national desert , a bit like how tea is the national drink of england but if you look in history it was actually exported and even stolen from the chinese with out permission. It doesn't matter where it came from first what matters is the symbol that the country holds with in that particular food or drink.
If it's as bad as you say, maybe you're better off disabling comments for that video all together, save yourself the bother of having to block each and every person (or account as it may be.)
Either way, looks delicious. Might try it next time I've got leftover white after making some cake or another.
I just hope our Lamingtons are safe, surely they can remain Australian. And I am sure the Kiwis can say they made something else that is equally nice. There -- and everyone can be happy.
Lamingtons were invented by Martians in the year 5000 - they brought them back in time to Earth before their civilisation died - EVERYONE KNOWS THAT LOL :P
There are millions of ppl. who haven't got a life..and their life is to bother, abuse, insult..or kill time on the web! Dont even care blocking, just keep making your nice vids, I am a 90% raw but I make them for the rest of my family and they LOOOOOVE them.
I can just see it now, the leaders of NZ and Aus having high tension talks over the future of our relations with threats of war over where pavlova was invented.
Strange. People creating alts so they can continue fighting each other over a dessert video. I understand a small debate that is no more than something like ten comments where people try to pinpoint its origin, but if people are tearing each others throats out and avoiding blocks over the matter I think they need to step back and analyze what they are doing with their life.
Sounds like the beginnings of an epic meringue pie fight between NZ and Australia :) Survivors of the battle many years into the future will look back and say "Yeh, the war was brutal...and sticky. Thousands of innocent people dented perfectly good pie tins. There was so much meringue frost everywhere that we couldn't tell the rabid dogs from the rabid people, so we had to shoot the lot of 'em. Once you get meringue in your nostrils, mate, it'll stick with ya forever." XD
it was actually invented by a Russian gold fish called 'Albert' and the owners last name was 'Pavlov'....so offically it was 'A. Well said David!! just eat it, it will taste better without the great debate, then EVERYONE can enjoy it more!!!

i found out the truth
long time ago a dance named
Anna Pavlova was an amazing dancer
she performed in both new zealend and australia
( did i spell that right?) anyway
two ppl were amazed and made a dessert and named it after she died of sickness
so there it is they both invented it
i agree with you i don't care about the fight i just wanted to show the truth
