Fantastic that you adopted a cat!

And by the way, I wouldn't worry too much about people complaining about you feeding your cat animal products. Gary L. Francione, one of the fathers of the abolitionist approach, believes that it is "morally excusable" to feed a cat animal products if it can't live on a vegan diet -- afterall, it would be much more cruel to let your cat be unhealthy and die.

You don't feed your cats vegan catfood as I can assume, so I personally find this pretty hypocritical. It's not too far from being a vegetarian who doesn't eat meat, yet supports the dairy industry which also leads to mass murder by consuming and buying dairy products.

Cats are carnivores, humans are omnivores. We are the ones that have to go vegan, not the cats.

I'm aware of that. It doesn't really matter that they are carnivores anymore. It's about choosing what's better and it's up to humans to do that. You are the one who chooses to give your cat certain food and you are the one who's able to support or not support mass murder. To me it's obvious that the industry you support by buying non vegan cat food takes away many more innocent lives than the amount of your cats.

Euthanizing a cat is just one of the choices that I personally wouldn't choose. If I were to adopt a cat I would start ordering vegan cat food. IVU, Vegan Society and PETA support the use of vegan food too.

No, you should not stop being vegan, but it's hypocritical to advocate for animal rights, but still support mass murder of animals by your actions.

I have 4 cats, and I buy non vegan cat food for them as well, I could not financially support the cats on a vegan diet, and besides, it is proven that not all cats do well on a vegan diet... specially male cats, and at least not so far... Wasn't veganism about reducing suffering to the latest possible extent? I don't think that makes us hypocrites. But this society is shit and we have to make the best of it as we go.

Apart from the fact that there is no vegan cat food available for me to buy in my country, I find it troublesome, controling their PH and the Taurine issue, and I am not quite convinced taking the health risks for my cats.

It sucks that I have to buy cat food made from animal products but I wouldn't leave my cats on the streets in exchange.
