Never had understood the mentality it takes to make comments like that. The center of that hole had already broken two trucks. It's deep and filed with debris. Fast was not an option. I was trying to work around the edge and a spotter on the radio is a great way to go. Experience and caution. If you live long enough, the brain gets bigger than the balls.
Powerwagon, that's exactly how you figure out the limitations of the truck. This particular hole had already permanently broken a Tundra and a Cherokee Sport. Both had young and dumb drivers that hit it doing 30 Mph. The Tundra drank some water and seriously broke the motor and the Cherokee ended up on fire.
Unless you're 16 and driving Daddy's truck, 1.5 MPH is exactly how fast you go through a hole where you don't know how deep or what might be hidden beneath the surface, dumbass.
Seeing this FJ put through this particular type of mud is like watching the 2 Girls 1 Cup video....Just kidding. But ya gotta learn your limitations of your rig. Like the old saying goes, if you ain't stuck, you ain't trying hard enough! Thanks for the video.
@dickdog75 Yeah, me too. I knew I was sunk though when that passenger side front dropped off the ledge into the soup. It was just one of those things I had to try.
@letterskilled I've had many Jeeps before (CJ5, CJ7, Grand Cherokee, and a couple of YJ's. Loved them all and they are awesome offroad. My brother's Jeep JK with 4.88 lockers front and rear and BFG KM2's didn't make it either. I think only a serious swamp buggy would make that hole. The FJ is great for me and very rarely fails me. It has to be good on the highway and highly reliable for me AND be good offroad. Jeeps just can't satisfy all of those requirements.
@letterskilled Yeah, really, if you had a jeeep you could have just gotten the thing stuck then left it there to rot b/c you wouldn't have lost out on anything.
Im impressed....already a toyota owner, but moved even a lil bit more now!Looks like BFG's All terrain earns what they're made for here!Throw some swampers on that bad boy and try the hole again.Dont forget the video camera OR the walkie talkie! What a great idea that is too...never crossed my mind!
@mattsrepair10 Next set of tires are BFG KM2 Mudders for me. The walkie-talkies work great for us. They only have a range of about 1 mile, but that's enough for most of what we do. Sure saves a lot of yelling.
for what look to be stock tires that is pretty amazing you got as far as you did, looked like you had fun doing it, I had fun watching. thanks for posting.
Thanks guys. I really pushed my luck there because I knew my brother was there to pull me back out. I just wanted to see how deep it was and see how far I could get without really risking breaking something. I ended up scrubbing my wheel weights off and scratching up my wheels. It was fine after 5 hours with a pressure washer and rebalancing the wheels. Just for the record, nobody else made it either. There is a dead Tundra and a dead Cherokee Sport sitting nearby with water ingestion damage a

I realize the AT's are limited in this stuff, but sometimes you just have to try. Nothing else had stopped me that day so I was feeling lucky.

@red88ization They're All-Terrain tires and I needed mud tires. Hey, sometimes you just have to work with what you have.

@Scott30184 you can't hit holes like that with Ats bro... looked sweet tho! Mudders are expensive but worth it! Love the way they sing down the road

Having wheels sideways doesn't help when your either dragging or pushing mud with front....

@mrmackie85 True, but straight ahead is not where I need to go at that point. Straight ahead would have put my hood under water.
