he says on keyboard Bobby sparks!

    soo. yes it is (:

  • Hold up!! Isn't that Prince's keyboard man..? Bobby Sparks?

  • man, i bet that pianist can play some serious swing jazz. and marcus sounds awesome too.

  • Marcus tone was never better than when he was using EBS. SWR with fenders money behind them must be offering a very lucrative deal.

  • I thought I was the only one who figured that out. I could tell when he released his album entitled "Marcus." It makes his base almost sound kind of weak. EBS packed his sound with pure tonality, PHATNESS, and he had a better round sound. I can't wait to purchase some EBS equipment.

  • So this was when he was using EBS?? I was considering his SWR signature series preamp. any thoughts?

  • SWR line in my opinioin is some of the best stuff out there. I've tried alot of amp/cab & nothing that I tried sounded better than SWR. Now I am currently using GK & for the money u can't beat GK. But my next purchase will definetly be SWR.

  • hmm.. but both GK and SWR stuff is really heavy, and weight is so annoying to deal with. I use Bergantino cabs, cos they have the best sound, and such low weight and small cabs.

  • I use the GK Neo line. I have a 410 & 112. The 410 is not heavy, but it's not light, it's kind of in between. But the 112 is extreemly light. But the tone on the GK's are fantastic. I really don't know the weight of the SWR, they just sound darn good. I don't know if thay have a Neo line.

  • @noinwe Hey man ! I have a NEO 410 and a 700RB head.

Now, my cab spends much of his time in the practice room so... we don't see each other that often :-(

I've been told that 410 + 212 NEO is 'the' killer combination but... $ :-/

Did you ever use both cabs together ? Did the 112 sound really loud like expected ?

  • EBS has modern tone thing. I like him when he was using SWR, that's at the Live & More concert. The one that has Hirram in it. More vintage.

  • Marcus doesn't use EBS Or any other amp when he records his bass. But in live situatons, SWR gave his bass a more natural tone, I believe thats whry he went back to SWR. EBS is some good stuff, but it colored his tone to much, in my opinion. SWR gave his bass a better tone.

  • Marcus Miller Teh Best!!!!

  • the best!

  • As great as Marcus Miller is, the original band deserves at least a passing mention in the description, don't you think? The Edgar Winter Group.

  • sounds abit heavy :D

  • what are you on?

  • what happed to the drumers shirt????????????

  • thats a killer organist nigga!!

  • I like the wink of the trumpeter to Dizzy Gillespie!!!

  • in this version, the sound is better!!!

  • what kind of turmpet is that guy in the horn section playing i have never seen a brass insturment with the sound hole pointed up like that

  • I don't know, I'm just a guitar player, but Dizzy Gillespie used one like that. I saw a cat in B.B. King's band use one.

  • Its just a different shaped trumpet that is supposed to project the sound better for some people. I think King makes one.

  • wee i saw marcus at USC jazz workshop

  • USCarolina, or Cali?

  • cali

  • larry graham!?? jajajajja

  • Poogie Bell

  • Steaming Bobby Sparks on keys!!

Pudgee on the drums! What else can one ask for! Thanks for the post :)

  • It doesn't sound so good without Dean Brown. Good performance though.

  • I agree. He may play a minor role in most other songs, but I think the driving guitar is a big part of this song. Great performance, I agree!

  • Bangin!

  • i would like to play the organ with a superman shirt, jeje. nice playing miller :D:D

  • the keyboard player is sick!!!...

    and so is marcus..=]

  • each player is a god!

  • They looks so happy doing what the do, thanks for uploading.

  • sweetness. I never knew jazz could sound so pumP! awesome.

  • Bobby Sparks is the BOSS !

  • ohhh now i know why he had the tube screamer on his pedal board..

  • This is the best miller song ever. MARCUS MILLER FO LIFE!

  • This is a Edgar Winter song from 1972...

  • yup my brothers band opened for edgar winter recently and I got to hang out with him and his band. It was sick. Then I saw marcus miller at the same venue a few weeks later and talked with him for about 30 minutes about bass.
