Look at the south (NWA) at the time, Flair, Magnum, Nikita, Steamboat more serious characters that you felt could legit kick your ass. With Hogan you felt he could kick your ass but do it in a batshit insane way coz he's such a goof.

Well, number one, I'm from Connecticut and we up here watched only WWF because that is all we had. I know NWA has a different style of wrestling, but up North, yes, we did have guys like Hogan and Warrior who were absolutely insane larger then life characters. They may be viewed as "Goofs" to you NWA fans down south but up here, they are viewed as awesome and they were viewed like Rock Stars.

None were better at drawing crowds than Flair and Hogan. Hogan had 93,000 when he wrestled the late Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania....that was awesome. Flair vs. Antonio Inoki drew almost 300K in S. Korea...awesome.

@lawmancpa TNA will fail because of brand name. You put the same exact shows that TNA runs, only run it under the name of "WWE" and it'll draw better. It's simple business. TNA could have the best ran wrestling company in the world and they'd still likely not catch the WWE because wrestling itself isn't as popular. the mainstream fans watch WWE and everyone else is segmented in the indies. TNA is somewhere between, mostly people sick with WWE but too lazy to watch indies.

@Anglefan12 Agreed about the brand. There must be some marketing that WWE does better than TNA. TNA seems to average less than 3000 fans at an event. WWE can go to the same arena and get over 10,000. It has to be the brand and some marketing ideas. Sadly, if the young wrestlers don't learn how to cut better interviews, more and more people will get tired of wrestling.

@lawmancpa It's not marketing, it's simply brand name. It has very little to do with the wrestlers on the show, very little to do with match quality, it's simply brand recognition. WCW succeeded because they had the NWA lineage and style as brand recognition. TNA has none of that, they tried, but people saw through it. Why else would even after adding Kennedy, Angle, hardy, sting, hogan, and flair would TNA's ratings be similar to where they were with less known guys?

TNA using Hulk and Flair to draw fans is actually a logical smart idea and it has worked every little bit at a time. Just think about it... Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff all showed up on the same night together... and now look at TNA... They stole the company from Dixie Carter and they are all working together! That is an awesome long term storyline at work... but so many fans are used to short term crap that they can't see how brilliant it is.
