This film was partially filmed in the town of Mendocino, Calif. Buildings on the south side of Main St are visible. The buildings later burnt and were never rebuilt.

East of Eden is a bullshit book. Worst I've ever read in my entire life. No meaning, substance, just a fuckload of symbolism and negative opinions of females. Overly detailed, good description of scenes though, but the plot utterly boring and not frustrating. Hated it, total dissappointment

I haven't seen the movie but I love the book and I've heard the movie focuses too much on the love story that actually isn't that emphasized in the book but I'm not surprised. Everyone should read the book though! It's so fucking good.

@dammitblink this film only features the last half of the book , it terrific though , Dean makes the movie with his performance as Cal , i hope you enjoy

@dammitblink It focuses just as much on the love story as the book does- considering it's about a 4th of the books length, it just feels like more.

I think the film's amazing in spite of all that they cut out- it gets the central point of the book down, which is really the most important thing.

umm kate (cathy) is supposed to be very beautiful, not 70 years old . . . and cal and aron are 16/17, not 25 . . . and wat about the trasks and hamiltons ??? WAT THE HELL IS THIS ???? there was NO love affair between abra, cal,and aron. it was always aron and abra, until aron died at atleast.

You must not have read the book correctly then bud.... Cathy is old and brittle near the end of the book when Aron and Cal were teenagers and Abra and Cal had a secret, forbidden love. So ya... That's that.

@awesomesaucejesus actually, i did read it 'bud', and yes i know that Cathy was supposed to be old by the end, but around 50-55, not 70, she didn't die of old age, she drank a lil sumthin sumthin and died. Abra and Cal did kinda like each other, but that was because Arona and Abra lost interest in each other after they were12/13. The movie enchances the love triangle to make things more interesting.The trialer still left out the Hamiltons, either that or this isn't the full trailer.

But Cathy looked old because she was beaten down by arthritis and other various medical problems. Also 12/13 is inaccurate. More so when Abra realized how inmature Aron was when he left to go to war.

@awesomesaucejesus Actually, both abra and aron knew they weren't all that into each other anymore, but they never admttedit until aron became very interested in religion nd becoming a priest. When he went off to college, he wrote love letters adressed to abra, but he made up a fictional abra who was only pure and wholesome. College really seperated abra and aron and that's unarguable. Any other age disputes u wanna go over ? im all ears ;)
