The Dreamcast version didn't play the best, however I was glad they "released" it. A better unreleased game is Propeller Arena. It was like Crazy Taxi meets Crimson Skies; it was ultimately canceled because of 9/11, but it was an excellent game and still should've saw the light of day outside of the internet. Definitely glad it was "released," too.
@catch22aono Sony didn't "put the nail in Sega's coffin " The Sega Dreamcast was forced to cease production because in Japan (it's base in sales) it lacked a dvd player, and that made the new and crappy ps2 look much more attractive to low+middle-class buyers.
Dreamcast failed cuz it was the sucessor of an underrated who made sega lose a lot of money and give it a bad rep. so when the Dreamcast came out it didnt had 3rd party's due to the failure of the Saturn.
Another reason it failed was because sony lied about the ps2 power and people were thinking that the ps2 would be like 1milion times better and didnt get a DC back than.
Dc was way more balanced only problem was the lack of DVD.

Hellz yes!!! I love L4D, L4D2, and the Portal games, but I can honestly say the Half-Life games are my favorite series of videogames ever made. And the Half-Life games, in my opinion were the most addictive and best games that Valve has ever made. @SuperFunnyman001 Oh I had no idea. Well, I guess that fixes the ol' Dreamcast Half-Life problem I was having lol. Thanks for letting me know man, cause now my endless resultless search is now over.

The PS2 wound up becoming the most successful video game console in history and is selling to this day.
I guess 4 players in the game was just too much. (Sega, Sony, MS, Nintendo)
@TorpedoBill9 Well, that may be so, but this time it was correct, still, to be sure, check it with multiple sources. Even the PS1 sold more than the 2600.
It was the first console to breach the 100 Million Mark, but it still sold less than the ps2. Well, Its funny your 25, but i feel like I'm talking to a Stubborn 2 Year old.
@funkymunky65 i ain't no 2 year ole you little punk bitch. it was officialy declared as the bestselling console of all time in 2009 dumbass. get your dick out of your mouth fucker
@TorpedoBill9 Officially?, by who? you? Doubt it, PS2 has sold the most consoles of all time, Atari 2600 failed even against the NES. it may have the most games, but I'm not sure, the PS2 has 1800 titles. maybe the best selling in the 70's, but not now, it has been a dead console for quite some time, here, i even have a chart so your dumb monkey brain can comprehend
@funkymunky65 by official records as stated in the book of world records for videogames in 2009. It outsold the nes and sure as hell outsold the ps2. it did have over 3000 titles
@TorpedoBill9 Okay, It had more games (Because they where very simple and were only 4KB in size LOL), BUT IT DID NOT OUTSELL THE PS2.
Ask anybody and they're going to say "PS2". The PS2 has sold 145.4 Million Consoles WORLDWIDE!!!! Not just in the USA, EVERYWHERE. Japan, Europe, Canada, EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! Until you can provide me with a link of some sort then Don't bother. The Atari 2600 was born in the "Video Game Crash" that's why it sold so little. 30 Million vs 145.4 Million you do the math!!
@TorpedoBill9 Yes, I know this, No need to inform me of when video games where taking off. As for your "bros", relay this to them, "How retarded can your gene pool get?" P.S. After looking over your "Comments" (If you can call them that), I have come to believe you are: 1) Gangsta 2) 2yrs. Old 3) Retarded 4) All of the above And why must you use such Harsh Language? It's already hard enough to have a mature conversation on YouTube. Without the other person just start using harsh language.
@funkymunky65 snes nes atari 2600 of course, atari 5200, atari 780, Sega Mastersystem, 2 different Pong consoles, type 3 Sega Genesis, All Gameboy types, just got a N64, wii, every xbox type, ps2, ps1, am going to get ps3 next month, dsi, atari jaguar, and a turbo grafix 16
@TorpedoBill9 Oops, sorry. I didn't read your back-and-forth. I give you major props for having great appreciation for the old school with that collection.
I have an Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Intellivision, Colecovision, RCA Studio II, Astrocade, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, PS3 (Yes! No PS One or PS2!), Xbox 360. I wish I had a Vectrex, Jaguar, and a few others.
I do still have an Apple //c, C128, and Amiga 500. Yay.
@TorpedoBill9 Yeah. The Vectrex can go for big bucks on ebay. Don't have a virtual boy either, but just picked up a Sega Game Gear in the original box for free along with Columns and a couple other titles.
@TorpedoBill9 I don't have the original Magnavox Odyssey but I do have the O2. It is probably one of the easiest consoles to get a complete collection of.
I have to say my best collection is probably the Intellivision or the Atari 7800.
I bought a colecovision and atari 5200 flash cartridge. Those things are cool. I need to pick up a cuddle cart 3 (Intellivision) and hopefully get a re-release or ebay sold Atari 7800 flash cart.
@TorpedoBill9 I wish that were true. I'm a fan of the true original game consoles of the Atari 2600, Mattel Intellivision, and the Coleco Colecovision. But here is the order of the "most successful game console" in terms of sales: PS2 - 146.9 Million (and still rising) Nintendo DS - 135 Million Gameboy + Gameboy Color - 118 Million Playstation - 102 Million Gameboy Advance - 81 Million Wii - 75 Million The Atari 2600 comes in at 30 million. :( In my heart, it is way higher!
@DinoEllis - Hahaha, what you mean to say is Playstation 2 was a more competitive product that because of Playstation 1's successful legacy (as opposed to SEGA's horrible one) more consumers wanted to go for that system instead. Sounds to me like SEGA wasn't ready to step up. Oh well.

@dogeymon83 But, the fanbase has incresed and want for games has gone up, If SEGA got their act together, they could potentially be the best in hardware sales. They'd have to make a really good system though.
Oh well.
@DinoEllis Ok, no offense, but they destroyed Sega because they had a better system and people liked it more. If Sega had put out better games and a better system than the Playstation 2, it would have been the other way around. They lost... simple as that.
@08brutlaga Im sorry to say that Sony didnt have a better system. The ps2 is the only system from the 6th generation to not have anti aliasing for crying out loud, and the Dc had it. That doesnt mean a system is better or not, but a lot of things about teh DC hardware are WAY better than the ps2. And keep in mind Sony has an history of lying to the consumer saying things like "how we have a system that pulls 75 million polygons per second" when in fact it couldnt pull 1/3 of that.
@fiaisguy Anti aliasing is about the only thing the DC had over the PS2 if you want to talk about system specs. No, it couldn't manage 75 million polygons per second but it could pull about from 3 million to 16 million per second which is a bit more than the DC at 3 million to 7 million per second (claims vary for each). The DC had 8 MB of video RAM and 2 MB of sound RAM where the PS3 only had 4 MB of video RAM and no sound RAM, however the PS2 had double the system ram at 32 MB instead of 16 MB
@fiaisguy Also, the DC had high density CDs for 1 GB storage per disc at 12x. The PS2 had DVD/CD at 24x CD and 4x DVDs up to dual-layer DVDs at 8.5 GBs per disc. This means faster CD games and much larger DVD games than the DC was capable of, I am sorry, but the DC was not technically better than the PS2.
@08brutlaga All that to say, yes Sega lost but the hardware on the Dreamcast was not inferior to the Ps2, if you get your facts right you would know that. If you dig a little further you will find out that the Dc graphics chip is one of the most effective ever made, in terms of processing, not speed, and it could do things the Ps2 could only dream of. And games were not the Dc problem as well, i would like to see Shenmue on the Ps2... The main reason the Dc failed was due to Sega´s bad rep.
@fiaisguy More specifically: Sega was too broke to compete in a market where you bled money until you got a big enough userbase to offset the high hardware costs and rising gamedev costs.
@redfoxbennaton If you really believe that the Ps2 can pull 60 million polys, you are day dreaming. That was one of the biggest lies Sony ever said about Ps2. If that was the case it would outperform the xbox and the Cube. But it never did. It doesnt even have antialising for crying out loud. Compare multiplatform games from the dreamcast and the Ps2. Can you say they look a lot better on the Sony machine?
@fiaisguy Xbox surpassed PS2 with 100 million polys. But, the GC was only 30 million polygons. Yes the PS2 had no anti aliasing. So they looked better at different levels.
The Gamecube is more powerfull than the Ps2. And again, the Ps2 IS NOT capable of 60 million polys/sec. Those are theoretical numbers, and honestly in reality it doesnt even deliver 1/4 of that number. Just compare the games for crying out loud. The xbox didnt deliver 100 million polys as well, that was ALL marketing, because they knew people fell for that crap.
@fiaisguy Ps2 was stronger then Dc you can't tell me it can run Shadow of the colossus,God of war 1-2, Ico,Jak and Daxter,Rachet and Clank.Dc has less ram and the Cpu wasn't great. The gpu they used in DC is a naomi arcade chip.Yea it can run some great looking games the thing is devs got used to making games on Ps2 and games looked alot better.
@risseer23 Shenmue, HeadHunter, Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur, Jet Grind Radio... Should i go on? Compare cross platform games like Sonic and Crazy taxi and you will just how bad the PS2 versions are when compared to the originals. Do you know why Sega didnt convert Shenmue 2 to the PS2? Because it couldnt handle all the complexity of the graphics engine. The Ps2 Gpu doesnt even have Anti aliasing, so i dont know what you mean by better looking games.
@risseer23 It makes me laugh when you say the "Cpu wasnt great". An Hitachi SH-4 clocked @ 200 mhz wasnt great for its time? So what the Ps2 has more ram, in what does that make it a better machine? Do you at least know what the ram is for in a console buddy?
This isnt a fan boy war, its about facts. Both systems were good in their own way, but overall, the DC was the superior machine.
@fiaisguy I totally agree with you. I just have to point something out that I thought was funny and ironic. "it could do things the PS2 could only DREAM of." lol. LONG LIVE THE DREAMCAST
@winlover37 Lol thanks for your comment, but even though it is a bit ironic, there is some truth to that as well. If you know your DC, you know what im sayin´!
@fiaisguy Yeah I know what you're saying :). I have a Dreamcast and I love it more than my PS2. Currently, it's collecting dust (soon I'll play it again). I like both of them but at the moment, the Dreamcast captivates me more. I play Half Life on my dreamcast too :)
@DinoEllis The Playstation 2 DID NOT ruin Sega. The Sega Dreamcast was forced to cease production because in Japan (it's base in sales) it lacked a dvd player, and that made the new and crappy ps2 look much more attractive to low+middle-class buyers.
I am working on Half-Life for dreamcast right now, it's fucking sweet I love that game. Then I'm gonna play Half-Life 2. And hopefully when I beat it Half-Life 3 will be out by then.
@funkymunky65 Yeah I have all of those I just haven't got around to it yet, and the gmod thing sounds fun from what I hear but I have no idea what it is.
@Anawnymous gmod is a sandbox type game where you can use props from hl2 to build stuff, you can also download addons, such as the nuke pack. its an awesome game, you can build your own vehicles, forts, etc. its also fun to play online.Better than Counter Strike! try looking up some gmod videos, you'll see what I mean.
Actually, the dreamcast was a pretty cool console. But if you want to play Half life, get it on the damn PC and play it how it was meant to be played.
Yeah, I remember they pulled all these from the shelves and we're like "nope not happening." lol I did end having a copy of it and I also remember load times taking forever compared to PC.
I have the DC version of Halflife and its as good as the PS2 version if not better. There is a download for Halflife on the net for the DC version. The only thing they didn't finish was optimizing the use of the memory card......one save takes up almost all of one Memory unit.
this mustve been before the decision on the HD pack since it looks too much like half-life on pc . if i were valve i wouldve teamed with sony to make a ps1 version
DreamCast was a much more powerful system than PS1, and at the time they made this, there was no way to know the DC was going to crash and burn like it did. Anyway, my understanding is they DID implement the HD pack into it, although they may not have done that at the time of this video. I haven't played the DC version (yet), but wikipedia says it contains the HD pack upgrade.
The Dreamcast is basically a scaled down NAOMI. The NAOMI is awesome.

@TorpedoBill9 Like how? What do you mean you know more about these games?
Dreamcast or the Atari 2600? I was talking about how the PS2 is the best selling console of all time, not a game.

TorpedoBill9 1 year ago
@TorpedoBill9
The 2600 has sold 30 Million as of 2004.
The PS2 has sold 145.4 Million as of July 30, 2010.
Don't Believe Me?
Go Check Wikipedia
Please, keep your facts up to date!

TorpedoBill9 1 year ago
@TorpedoBill9 Well, that may be so, but this time it was correct, still, to be sure, check it with multiple sources. Even the PS1 sold more than the 2600.
It was the first console to breach the 100 Million Mark, but it still sold less than the ps2. Well, Its funny your 25, but i feel like I'm talking to a Stubborn 2 Year old.

@funkymunky65 i ain't no 2 year ole you little punk bitch. it was officialy declared as the bestselling console of all time in 2009 dumbass. get your dick out of your mouth fucker
TorpedoBill9 1 year ago
@TorpedoBill9 Officially?, by who? you? Doubt it, PS2 has sold the most consoles of all time, Atari 2600 failed even against the NES. it may have the most games, but I'm not sure, the PS2 has 1800 titles. maybe the best selling in the 70's, but not now, it has been a dead console for quite some time, here, i even have a chart so your dumb monkey brain can comprehend
Google this "Best selling consoles WiKi"
Click the first link.
funkymunky65 1 year ago
@funkymunky65 by official records as stated in the book of world records for videogames in 2009. It outsold the nes and sure as hell outsold the ps2. it did have over 3000 titles
TorpedoBill9 1 year ago
30 Million vs 145.4 Million you do the math!!
funkymunky65 1 year ago

@TorpedoBill9 I don't have the original Magnavox Odyssey but I do have the O2. It is probably one of the easiest consoles to get a complete collection of.
I have to say my best collection is probably the Intellivision or the Atari 7800.
I bought a colecovision and atari 5200 flash cartridge. Those things are cool. I need to pick up a cuddle cart 3 (Intellivision) and hopefully get a re-release or ebay sold Atari 7800 flash cart.

@DinoEllis No it was a douche named bernie stoler who ruined the saturn and the dreamcast saying rpgs dont work in america
wyatt190 1 year ago
@DinoEllis Ok, no offense, but they destroyed Sega because they had a better system and people liked it more. If Sega had put out better games and a better system than the Playstation 2, it would have been the other way around. They lost... simple as that.
08brutlaga 11 months ago
@08brutlaga Im sorry to say that Sony didnt have a better system. The ps2 is the only system from the 6th generation to not have anti aliasing for crying out loud, and the Dc had it. That doesnt mean a system is better or not, but a lot of things about teh DC hardware are WAY better than the ps2. And keep in mind Sony has an history of lying to the consumer saying things like "how we have a system that pulls 75 million polygons per second" when in fact it couldnt pull 1/3 of that.
fiaisguy 10 months ago 2
@fiaisguy Anti aliasing is about the only thing the DC had over the PS2 if you want to talk about system specs. No, it couldn't manage 75 million polygons per second but it could pull about from 3 million to 16 million per second which is a bit more than the DC at 3 million to 7 million per second (claims vary for each). The DC had 8 MB of video RAM and 2 MB of sound RAM where the PS3 only had 4 MB of video RAM and no sound RAM, however the PS2 had double the system ram at 32 MB instead of 16 MB
08brutlaga 2 months ago
@fiaisguy Also, the DC had high density CDs for 1 GB storage per disc at 12x. The PS2 had DVD/CD at 24x CD and 4x DVDs up to dual-layer DVDs at 8.5 GBs per disc. This means faster CD games and much larger DVD games than the DC was capable of, I am sorry, but the DC was not technically better than the PS2.
08brutlaga 2 months ago
@08brutlaga All that to say, yes Sega lost but the hardware on the Dreamcast was not inferior to the Ps2, if you get your facts right you would know that. If you dig a little further you will find out that the Dc graphics chip is one of the most effective ever made, in terms of processing, not speed, and it could do things the Ps2 could only dream of. And games were not the Dc problem as well, i would like to see Shenmue on the Ps2... The main reason the Dc failed was due to Sega´s bad rep.
fiaisguy 10 months ago 19
@fiaisguy More specifically: Sega was too broke to compete in a market where you bled money until you got a big enough userbase to offset the high hardware costs and rising gamedev costs.
DracIsBack 10 months ago
@fiaisguy it was inferior to the PS2 graphically. Dreamcast, 3 million polys. PS2 60 million polys.
redfoxbennaton 8 months ago
@redfoxbennaton If you really believe that the Ps2 can pull 60 million polys, you are day dreaming. That was one of the biggest lies Sony ever said about Ps2. If that was the case it would outperform the xbox and the Cube. But it never did. It doesnt even have antialising for crying out loud. Compare multiplatform games from the dreamcast and the Ps2. Can you say they look a lot better on the Sony machine?
fiaisguy 8 months ago
@fiaisguy Xbox surpassed PS2 with 100 million polys. But, the GC was only 30 million polygons. Yes the PS2 had no anti aliasing. So they looked better at different levels.
redfoxbennaton 8 months ago
@redfoxbennaton Dude, those are just numbers, who cares?
The Gamecube is more powerfull than the Ps2. And again, the Ps2 IS NOT capable of 60 million polys/sec. Those are theoretical numbers, and honestly in reality it doesnt even deliver 1/4 of that number. Just compare the games for crying out loud. The xbox didnt deliver 100 million polys as well, that was ALL marketing, because they knew people fell for that crap.
fiaisguy 8 months ago 7
@fiaisguy Unreal tournament ran better on the dreamcast than the ps2, The Dreamcast is powerful
Pivotchop 6 months ago
@fiaisguy Ps2 was stronger then Dc you can't tell me it can run Shadow of the colossus,God of war 1-2, Ico,Jak and Daxter,Rachet and Clank.Dc has less ram and the Cpu wasn't great. The gpu they used in DC is a naomi arcade chip.Yea it can run some great looking games the thing is devs got used to making games on Ps2 and games looked alot better.
risseer23 6 months ago
@risseer23 Shenmue, HeadHunter, Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur, Jet Grind Radio... Should i go on? Compare cross platform games like Sonic and Crazy taxi and you will just how bad the PS2 versions are when compared to the originals. Do you know why Sega didnt convert Shenmue 2 to the PS2? Because it couldnt handle all the complexity of the graphics engine. The Ps2 Gpu doesnt even have Anti aliasing, so i dont know what you mean by better looking games.
fiaisguy 6 months ago
@risseer23 It makes me laugh when you say the "Cpu wasnt great". An Hitachi SH-4 clocked @ 200 mhz wasnt great for its time? So what the Ps2 has more ram, in what does that make it a better machine? Do you at least know what the ram is for in a console buddy?
This isnt a fan boy war, its about facts. Both systems were good in their own way, but overall, the DC was the superior machine.
fiaisguy 6 months ago
@fiaisguy I totally agree with you. I just have to point something out that I thought was funny and ironic. "it could do things the PS2 could only DREAM of." lol. LONG LIVE THE DREAMCAST
winlover37 6 months ago
@winlover37 Lol thanks for your comment, but even though it is a bit ironic, there is some truth to that as well. If you know your DC, you know what im sayin´!
fiaisguy 6 months ago
@fiaisguy Yeah I know what you're saying :). I have a Dreamcast and I love it more than my PS2. Currently, it's collecting dust (soon I'll play it again). I like both of them but at the moment, the Dreamcast captivates me more. I play Half Life on my dreamcast too :)

@DinoEllis The Playstation 2 DID NOT ruin Sega. The Sega Dreamcast was forced to cease production because in Japan (it's base in sales) it lacked a dvd player, and that made the new and crappy ps2 look much more attractive to low+middle-class buyers.

I have the DC version of Halflife and its as good as the PS2 version if not better. There is a download for Halflife on the net for the DC version. The only thing they didn't finish was optimizing the use of the memory card......one save takes up almost all of one Memory unit.

OWLTOOTSIESClan 2 years ago
DreamCast was a much more powerful system than PS1, and at the time they made this, there was no way to know the DC was going to crash and burn like it did. Anyway, my understanding is they DID implement the HD pack into it, although they may not have done that at the time of this video. I haven't played the DC version (yet), but wikipedia says it contains the HD pack upgrade.
