@fidedigno5 You're working on an assumption which has never proven true. I used to suspect similar to you but he's been asked about it in two interviews that I know of.

One was Jonathan Ross in the UK where he just took off his beanie and another on a radio show which is filmed and put on the web were he also took off his base ball cap. Both times revealing thick but messy hat hair.

He's also turned up to events outside were it's windy but no hat but put one on inside. He just likes the look.
