i think u showed the height of the case wrong because the position of the cpu on mini ATX mainbaords is near the PSU, so a large CPU Cooler will obviously dont fit because the PSU is in its way
This case also comes with a 450w PSU option. Also it is quite possible to replace the PSU, you can even get room for a full size ATX PSU, though it will be a tightfit :)
why is the PSU not flipped so the exhaust hole on the top isnt blocked by the backplate of the psu? It will help with cooling the system. Maybe 3DGM did it because he wants the psu to pull hot air from the GPU and CPU, but this will degrade the lifetime of the PSU, and it will be getting hot fast and consequently make more noise, so bad when you want a quiet box. I would rather get a good cpu cooler that directs the airflow to the side instead of making the psu pull hot air from the box.
With the 300w PSU it would recommend going for a low wattage GPU like radeon 5670, it pulls 67w at peak, combined with a Phenom II x4 and depending on the chipset on the mobo you will be pulling 300w at peaks.
Sure you can put a 5770 and the likes in the box and get it to run, but when the 5770 peaks youre going above what the PSU is guaranteed to deliver, you are basicly betting on not getting a bad unit. Also, the more wattage you use the harder it will be to cool the system.
Also, there are no goof Am3 mini ITX boards. Getting a i3 with a 5770 is much better. The i3 used about 50 Watts and the 5770 has a TDP of 108 Watt. Your not going above 200W with this.
@HeyItsMeDaniel The i3 uses 69-71w idle and 106-133w load. A phenom II X2 is equivalent with 71w idle and 119w load. With the 5770 you got 227w during load and roughly 70w for the rest. If you want to go for less power on the cpu to get some more power to the GPU then go for it. It's true that there are few am3 mini ITX boards, i went for the Asus M4A88T-I Deluxe, i think the only downside with this board is the SO-DIMM ramslots and just 4xSATA. There is a better one on the market though.
but its a mini itx system, i passively cool the GPU and have replaced the CPU cooler with a scythe ninja, i also remove the disc rack and flipped the PSU upside down to get that fan to stop making so much noise (also it stole cold air from the CPU). Im thinking about modding the PSU to allow bigger fag to cool it or maybe 2 smaller less noisy fans, also im thinking about making it so that air passes through the psu and out the top vent.
I will be one more guy who disagrees with the rating of this product.... No sleeved cables for the power supply, no dust filters, no anti-vibration HDD mounts, no eSata in the front panel, no thumbscrews, no black interior... What were you thinking Rodney?? This is a GREAT product....
As Rodney mentioned in the video, it is good for people who prefer a quiet home theater computer. Moreover, small cases are often better than larger cases in an office or retail environment.
Foxontherun2, I am assuming you have never hauled a steel based mid-tower case for more than 2 hours, have you. Try it and you will understand why.
It's for people who have a seperate computer as a home theater. And therefore its not ment to bake thrown around, its ment to stay where it is and take minimal space... geez
@Foxontherun2 cause u can fit evreything in this case. that most ppl need..... some ppl likem more..... really go with ur full towers or what eva.... blah blah blah i like smaller cases ..........
It's not even going to save space. It's footprint is wider then a normal tower. A normal tower would litterally take up less space since it focuses it's bulk vertically rather then horizontally.
@Foxontherun2 wider? its like 2cm wider then my midtower >.> but culd fit about 5 or so of them in my mid tower...... soooooo yeh it is..... its like 1/2 as long... and yeh bout 2cm wider :O! noes 2cm quick back to mid tower thats like 4 times the size
It can actually be used for mid-end gaming... DFI just created a nice 1156s m-ITX board for the Core i5, this mounted with a GeminII or the Corsair H50 and the HD 5770 then you got a nice little gaming comp that can pull games of a 1680x1050 DX10 noAA noAF ;)
@loociousz im doing just that lol! im using the dfi mi p55 t36, a core i5 750, corsair h50 and depending on what the psu can support either a 5770/5850/5870!
@addzkebabs unless you install a new psu it will not support more than a HD 5770 or GTS 250 and there aren't room for longer cards unless you manuel casemode the SG06
"The fan has golf blades so it's very quiet but moves a lot of air" What the fuck? I'll make them dents to a 200 CFM Delta and it will become quiet too? Jesus, could you even try not to kiss the manufacturers' asses so bad.
Is it possible in the future you can place the microphone right up against the case for the fan noise sample. I know the fans make noise, but it sounds silent listening to it on youtube.
I used to have the NZXT Rouge which imo is not SFF but it was decent enough, 4 expansion slots, outer aluminum (3mm thick), fitted 10.5 gpus but there was so much wasted space and it really just imitated SFF cases instead of being one. The weight was close to an antec 1200 when all fully loaded and it wasn't too practical to carry around.

i would add a 5850 too, so whats the difference between this and the sg05? is this just the new model or is the SG05 maybe even smaller?

Looks great, but why oh why is it mini-ITX!
A little wider and you could have a high end mATX board supporting Crossfire or SLI, it would be the perfect LAN box!

all you need to turn a fan on in the case is the power supply as a fan isnt run with any software, only power.
