@ovallesfilmcomposer7 yup, original Motif has midi timing problems.. the ES sorted this out. as well as many more things.. ES is the one to have, if you got the £$ then go XS rack :)

Yepp, now I bought a Motif rack thanks to Bert...and the rack blew my socks off; this is pretty insane; probably the best allround synth EVER made on Earth; the clarity and the enormous dynamic of sounds, hard to believe...eat dirt, Korg! LOL

Yamaha always have decent piano samples,in my opinion they are the best when it comes to piano sampling,even a half decent piano vst doesn't cut it for me.

This guy (Himmer66) use soundfonts crap and dare come here just to show us how deep he's frustrated to not own one. Me, i own a bunch of hardware and vst synth and effects, among them the best of korg, kurzweil, roland, yamaha, creamware, lexicon, sony... and i can insure you the Motif is a superb machine and is very good and pro sound wise. Also, it can take up to 2 PLG synthesis or S+S cards, quite unique. 98% of the VST sound flat, dull.

The instruments sound way too dry - the drums/percussions are CRAP - I use a Casio regular MIDI keyboard and some quality FREE soundfonts and get much better sound - this is totally fucking unimpressive and far from pro quality mate.

I don't know what's so fucking funny about this - if you really are impressed by this overly expensive shit then you truely are a fucking n00b - a lot of the instrument samples in this machine are far from production quality, even amateur productions..... What does 2006 have to do - I have a much older MIDI controller and soundfonts and it blows away any faggot Yamaha crap out there for a FRACTION of the cost - what a bloody rip-off spending over $5000 on t his n00b toy!

I have this rack hooked up to an M-audio Controller and it sounds excellent. Keep in mind it has to be used with a controller not a keyboard otherwise the sound will be dissapointing.

I'm fairly certain that any brand controller would work with this rack, but I'm not exactly knowledgeable in the matter...

The USB connection is for the PC, but the MIDI connector will work with anything that has a MIDI connector of its own. Any control keyboard on the market will do, for that matter.

Motif-Rack is a very good machine. With a good keyboard it makes a good studio gear.

Classic Motif (w/keyboard) hasn't MegaVoices, but in Motif-Rack I heard it. Does the Motif Rack have MegaVoice technology?
