@mrrobotica the party is only one year old, they have many policy's, but it takes a while to develop policy's on everything, their focus is social progression, just as the greens is the environment, ect ect, they are not stuck on one idea, but the things they focus on are the things being largely ignored by major parties, and thats what they are here to do, fight for those basic rights, but if it came to the crunch their policy is to use logic and understanding to come to new policy.

it doesnt block just child porn etc, it blocks things like games and movie sites refused classification in aus.
it will slow the internet down by up to 30%. companies in america that push more traffic than all of aus have implemented more efficient ways of blocking sites for under a mil.

@spookyfbi8 Marrige is the fundamental building block of western socitey and family, it's exclusivity is what makes it important, for centuries marrige has been sacred in religion and law as a bond between a man and a woman. I have no problem with same sex couples, not with them partaking in a union identicle to marrige with all the same legal and spiritual rights and rituals, but it shouldn't be called, labeled or refered to as marrige. Because a minority group wants change why should we all?

That doesn't seem fair. And the fact that they're a minority group doesn't invalidate their right to equality. If you lived in a community where 10% of the residence were black, and they were recieving unequal treatment, would you think it was ok because they were a minority? How many people does it take

@spookyfbi8 before inequality is not ok? 20%? 30%? 49.99%? Besides, this is not something that will affect anyone other than same-sex couples who want to marry. It will not invalidate your marriage if you are married, and if you're not, you'll still be able to get married or not as you wish. The only thing that will change is that gay people will also have the same option that straight people take for granted. How can anybody see this as a bad thing?

@spookyfbi8 There are a plethora of reasons to exclude homosexual people from using the term marrige, I have no prob with gay ppl sharing a union in a ceremony and having identical legal rights to straight married couples, but I believe that marrige as a legal and social term should remain exclusivley for straight couples. This affects everyone who is married as their exclusive hetero marrige rights would be shared with gay couples, altering centuries of legal and spiritual tradition.

@timewarlord I'm sorry, what are the reasons? The only reason you gave was tradition, and I really have a hard time understanding why that, in and of itself, should be a reason to hold up equality. I'm sure there were a few white men many years ago who begrudged the fact that they would have to share the vote with women and blacks, but that doesn't mean that giving women and blacks the right to vote was wrong. Tradition is all well and good, but not when it stands in the way of equality.

I'm voting these guys in the Senate. So far only they and the Greens have argued for an R18 rating for video games. Family 1st are idiots. Don't see that more restrictive rating system would help make it harder for yungins getting their hands on games that in other countrys they have to be over 18 to play (our current highest rating is only MA15+). Both Labour and Liberal Partys don't even KNOW or care about this issue. Time to make them hear it, because 60,000 australians at least care about it

Drugs are not a law enforcement problem, they are a health and social problem & should be treated that way. As a former drug cop I can't even begin to tell you how much is wasted on the "war on (some people who use some) drugs"

it doesnt block just child porn etc, it blocks things like games and movie sites refused classification in aus.
it will slow the internet down by up to 30%. companies in america that push more traffic than all of aus have implemented more efficient ways of blocking sites for under a mil.
it DOESNT WORK. people dont get CP off websites, they use shit like IRC, TOR, and freenet. even if they did, it is blindingly easy to get around the filter.
