Thank you for posting this song,If I remember Larry wrote this??? The Hinsons have been a family Favorite for as long as I can remember, always a blessing to hear, always. "looks like he polished his shoes with a Hershey bar" .
This song is such a blessing. I feel sorry for people who miss out on accepting Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. I know I couldn't. They are all greatly talentedd, but Kenny is the wonder of them all. I miss you Kenny. God Bless You,
Anyone remember what this guy's name is that's playing the steel guitar??
One of the things I remember about these days, was going to one of the Jubilee tapings, along about this time (1976-77)... All the groups there got hungry. We volunteered to to to McDonalds.. we purchased around 45 hamburgers t& French fries that day!!
It was amazing to see that this is just a corner of the studio with concrete floors and some lattace work behind them..

Listen to Larry! As my grand-dad would say, "That little feller' can sing!!!" Of course, I know this video was made 30+ years ago but Larry can still sing! God bless the Hinson family.
The "Hinsons" are the Premier Southern Gospel group that ranks high among the greats that has inspired, edified, and blessed so many with thier soul changin' songs sung by the very best there is!!
he is my baritone hero...i strive to sing just like him...sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't...but the hinsons have been an inspiritation to me for a long time, and i'm only 20...so that goes to show how long i've been listening to this good ole southern gospel music...ronnie is my songwriting hero...i favor his style a lot when i write music...
I was in gospel radio for several years in the late seventies. I remember this song so well & playing it for my listeners. It was a thrill interviewing Ronnie Hinson, & geting his thoughts on writng The Lighthouse. I ended up being good friends with this outstanding gospel group.
I grew up listening and singing to Kenny and Ronnie Yvonne, Bo and Larry...Your music and family will always have a special place in my heart. From "The Lighthouse" to "The Original Superman"...WOW...I wouldn't trade those memories for the world. Thank you Hinson family! God Bless.
Yes they do, their were 8 children in the family, five boy and three girls. The four singers of the group were the four youngest. Ronny, Yvonne, Kenny, and Larry. The line goes as follows Teddi, Barbara, Calvin( Eric's father), Harold (their bus driver), Ronny ( Bo's father), Yvonne( my mother), Kenny (Weston's Father), and Larry.
Where did Bo and his wife group go, I loved Oasis and Calvery, they were so good.....they were supose to come to Tyler about 9-10 years ago and there bus broke down, so we saw local talent tha night, I sure was disappointed.....were they just a flash in Gospel Music, somebody I know that has a group, said Bo was very tempermental .

I agree that there will never be another Kenny But Larry has an awesome voice too I love them all and had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times in concert before Kenny's going home!!!
Kenny always got the attention but Larry was and still is a very good singer and song writer. His 1983 "solo" album (with wife Jana) is a fantastic album.
Larry was a great singer to. A beautiful song.

Larry is such a role model to me! I am around his age now when this was recorded, and with a baritone voice like his, he inspires me so!

I love the knots in the ties. As big as your fist! They are a great group, though, no matter what they're wearing.
