try taking all the orange wires put them together and then put your brownwire with it (if u dont gotta brown use grey) if tht dont work try putting the brown (or grey) wire with 1 red wire lemme kno how it works...worked for me
@casemods I'd say it makes fine sense. Especially if you have a work bench and you want to do some testing for the amp. The amp doesn't need 1000 watts to turn on. So either keep the gain down low, or use only your HPF with the low freqs down, and you should be fine. But you're correct in that he won't be able to use the amp to it's fullest potential. ..or anywhere close to it. Should be fine for a test bench though.
dude i solved it for myself.psu powers down because of the amp(the trigger /switch on the amp needs to be connected after the psu starts spinning).disconnect trigger/switch cable on amp and connectit few sec after you powered on the psu.
get a couple good psu's i mean look at the 12v amperage and get two with atleast 20 amps @ 12v and hook all the yellows together from both psu's and if it still doesnt work get a third
yo mine does that to. first i had only 1 +12v from the one that has 2 connecters n 4 pins n the 1 ground wire from the same pin, but wen i added all of the yellow and blacks n turned it up my psu shut down n it never turns on now!!!!!. i think i blew it
same thing happend to me and i have a 1000 watt amp and you have to get a pcu that is at least 750 watts i have running right now one 350watt pcu and another 650 watt pcu equaling out to 1000watts so it works just fine with me. at first when this happend to me i had the same thing happening in your video
hello. looks is that I have a JVC KDG 230 to take away my car and I installed it on my room and wanted to know if I can connect to a source at or atx?. and as would the installation step by step, because to know which wire is between all those who are, for example: positive 12v is a yellow and black-12v, as that is among all the black and yellow cables that brings power source. HELP. THANK YOU
you need a jumper between the positive and the wire in between. its called the remote on. normally in a car its connected to your head unit and allow the amp to only turn on when you turn your stereo on. by jumping to the positive it gets the signal to turn on and stay on.
on the amp it should say 3 things, Ground (black), on power(red), and +DC 12v (yellow).. put Both of the wires together fom the power on and +DC (or jst take a lil wire and run it from the +dc into the pwer on. then it will work i have had a amp hooked in my room and still got my lil amp if u wanna see a pic of the wires
You don't need to have every yellow and black connector, i don't recommend this any way because a house only outputs 20amps, where most amplifiers will need over 50 amps.
rule of thumb not all 250 watts is 12 volts. look in manual to find out how many watts of 12v then buy more psu's and wire them in PARALLEL + to + and - to -. i run double the input watts to my 500 watt amp still 12 volt. i have 3 500 watt power supplies and all together they put out about 1200 watt of useable 12v power. that way my amp isnt mad underpowered so my voltage wont drop to below 11.7 or so.
dont run your amp in the house unless you have way more power on input than the amp puts out
this same thing happend to me what i did is put it on the highest number it has on the red switch and turn it on it will stay on i think the green light or red light wont turn on but it ok then switch the red switch to the lowest number see if that works
youve got multiple 12v rails attached to the amp. u should only be using one of the 12v rails and not several. The reason it is shutting off is because it could over heat quickly and start a fire. so connect only one yellow wire and one black wire and you should be fine.
@MrTray247 Run a switch. You can buy one at radioshack or wallmart and hook that up on the wire going from + to remote. You will have to flip the switch every time you mute the radio though.
Since there is no car stereo there you will need to bridge it to get the amp to work BTW (FYI) DC VOLTAGE KILLS in small amounts unlike AC if you do not know what you are doing don't play with your life learn and get help from those who do know watching a video is not like being shown in real time by a pro be safe and good luck
Hey good work man hope you can get a getter video up soon to those asking how to questions..are you sure you should be attempting this especially when asking where do i connect the RCA any way here it is the RCA jacks are those jacks on your little PS2 cords that connect to your TV connect the damn jacks by color think about it...now you might need to bridge your remote line to get it to work that would be the controller wire going from your car stereo to the amp
hey i got everything done, my amp is powered up already but when i connect my rca inputs to my radio the subwoofer hooked up to the amp doesnt work yet the speakers do and the amp light is on and working
u need to find out which wire from the main harness is ur DC turn on.(usually the only green wire) then run a jumper wire from the DC on to any black wire(which is ground). this will keep the PSU runnin because it turns the fan on.
A circuit will only pull the current (AMPS) that it needs. If your circuit requires 12 Volts and 60 AMPS you can hook a 12 Volt source that is capable of supplying 1000 AMPS and it will still only draw 60 AMPS. I Love when people who have no idea about electronic/electric theory try and sound like they do. The AMPS that a power supply can, well, supply does not matter, as long as its equal to or more than required by the circuit, period. pownd
Finnaly someone who knows what hes talking about , A good formula i use is the power of the amp divided by 12 (12v) = The amount of amps you need to power the amp at full gain.
DUH. Of course dude! 250Watt will never power 1000Watt.. Why'd u even try? You need a much more powerful psu... (idk if it'll work but maybe you can run multiple supplies in parallel but idk if thats a good idea lol)
That PSU is a bunch of crap, It'd work on my amp (Its like 300wmrs) but a big amp on startup requires loads of power, and im guessing your PSU shuts off after you turn it on? (fan stop spinning) if so go on ebay and try to buy a powersupply like 500-750w that has like 35A+ on a 12v Rail.. 35A wont fully power that but should let you blast about 400wrms out of it, and thats enough for in-home anyway.
my does the same thing, after you hit the switch, just turn it off and wait for you to hear it power down than repeat until it stays on, once it stays you never have to shut it down
reason y its turning off coz u hav 4 12v rails (yellow) connected to ur amp. ur psu rail must hav bout 16-20 amps. an amp takes in only 20 amperage, which means say 20amperage times 4 =???........exactly ur amperage is exceeding so ur amp cant handle too much power. even tho its 12 volts. try one 12v wire.
are you stupid? a Class A/B 300wrms Amplifier needs about 32A, And a standard car battery is 12V 60A. You can use how many rails you want.. As long as you dont exceed like 140A (Unless your Amp clips and it needs more A).
Yeah and sometimes it may fail (PSU) to deliver the amount of current needed. I just run a high current deep cycle batt in a boxed up crate and everything is fine.
i took out a power supply from a computer and i tried to hook it up to a amp and it dont work is it because i have to buy one? or they dont work if u take one out of a pc
Hmm, hooked up my crappy 720watt jensen and it works fine. That amp must have some kind of safety feature or needs like major amps or something.......... :S
the reason it turns off is bcuz you have to have the remote line hooked up aswell you only had the ground and power the remote is just the signal to turn it on so get a small line of wire and run it from the power bridged to the remote---
@CheeseburgerLahey This configuration wont allow you to use the full potential of the amp, because the power supply's wattage is too low and the voltage drops significantly and also the power supply's voltage is too low.You have to have it at least at 15,4V or something, because of the voltage dropping under load. There is no substitute for a good old transformer power supply. Its heavy, but its better.
Anyone know why the PC powersupply and the amp both shutoff after that green light comes on? I've tried using 2 power supplies bridged and it still does the same thing.???
@CheeseburgerLahey hey u need a 450 watts psu or higher, what u really need is 12v and more than 20 amps, look at ur psu spec, it mus says yellow +12v 20amps, but if u will buy a higher psu and it costs more than $100 i recomend to buy a 12v power supply with more than 20amps it will work better, some of them are more than 12v, if its 13 volts that will be better, search on ebay

Hey idiot.
The power supply is 250 watts and the amplifier is 1000 watts
Does that make sense?

I know whats wrong! You need to check the fuse rating on your amp and buy a PSU that can provide that Amperage on a single rail. I recommend CORSAIR.
Also, make sure that your amp has regulated power supply unit bulit-in, if not you cant get the max power of your amp @ 12V.
