Also find it interesting that most of the comments on here aren't wild about the winner, Pelli. Ugh, TJPA should have been more daring.

Loved Rodgers design, SOM was close second IMO. To me, the Rodgers proposal embodies SF. I loves it's openess yet stark contrast to the other buildings in the skyline.

As to the "flimsiness" the gentleman at the beginning of this video spoke about in SOM's design, if it's anything like SOM's amazing Al-Hambra building in Kuwait that uses a similar latice-like design at it's foundation, it's far from flimsy.

Maybe it will be as successful as the roof park on the first Moscone center, or maybe the Metreon. How many billion will this be? The developer fees from the high rise must to subsidize the terminal.

They could totally rebuild all the slums in Oakland for the cost of this monstrosity. Oh well, at least they could sleep here. Are there a lot of places to park homeless carts?

i woulda picked SOM's design..

i was kinda upset to see that Pelli won. it's not as energy efficient in design.
