  • While flipping channels yesterday I came across this particular scene and was awestruck on it's simple yet meaningful explanation of what a marriage is. I plan on using it at my daughter's wedding next year when I have to give my "Father-of-the-Bride" speech. I hope she and her fiance' are listening closely. I also hope that her Mother (my now ex-wife) will be listening so she could understand what 25 years of marriage meant to me. Thanks for the posting.

  • Wedding vows.

  • Just saw this movie for the first time today, and yes... that is perhaps the most amazing movie line I've ever heard. It gave me chills. It is so spot on and so fantastic that it made me realize what I've really been looking for all along. Fantastic!

  • such a great scene and so so wise. I'm not married but i do hope i marry for more than this need of ours to be needed. But she is so right for the vast majority, and i really don't know if it's such a bad thing. Okay i'm babbling.

  • No matter how many times I see this clip it makes me cry.

  • good movie.

  • When I heard Susan Sarandon delivered this line in the movie, my jaw just about hit the floor. If that isn't one of the most dead-on explanations of why we seek marriage or partnership... I don't know what is... Thanks for posting.

  • Love it!
