Nothing can increase reaction time and hand eye coordination like table tennis. so it has its pros and cons.

@kelman221 If u hit him, he cant smash ball, he can only send you back without smashing. If you send him for example right from him, that ball goes on his forehand, which means- boom! ...and he scored.
@kelman221 I think it's because the attacker wants to control the defender's backhand (backhand is much harder to counter attack than forehand from far.) When the defender make a bad return or the attacker sees a chance, then the attacker switches direction or drop shot, etc.

another word of advice. if you ever want to be a good tennis player, don't play table tennis. it will only ruin your form.
the strokes are completely different. there is no follow-through in table tennis. everything is short compact swing.
