  • I love how the only people here are fourteen year old boys trying to get off on this rather creepy old commercial. -.- Also, just so we're all clear, there's a pretty justified reason for why insurance companies charge more for car insurance for male drivers than female drivers. The logic of this commercial is quite backwards.

  • It's funny 'cause it's a woman driver. Hahaha!

  • Cause shit like that only happen when women drive your car

  • How is this sexist? Goodyear is trying to help her drive better!

  • hahaha

  • so true

  • Misogynistic is getting good tires for your wife? Not. The point was that men only care how long the tire last. But oh, my wife is also driving this car. I'll get safer tires if I love her. Misogynistic means "woman hater" Thumbs down for a poor title.

  • I see nothing wrong with this commercial.

  • Well... the truth hurts... women are shitty drivers. I'd never ride in a car with an asian woman.

  • @Skiiiiirt (i'm a girl) well, if you beleive in evolution it does make sense. Men were the hunters, that made them able to see movement better. Women were gatherers, that made them able to see color better (part of why men are more likely to be colorblind). If a car is about to hit a male driver, he will process it faster and be able to respond quicker to avoid collision. It takes women miliseconds longer to process movement, those miliseconds may be very imortant.

  • LMAO , they draw it up like every car trip is a battle between life & death if a woman is behind the steering wheel, which infact is true.

  • That's a rather large kitchen she's driving in.

  • feminists.. shoo!!! back in yer den!!

  • I dont see why its mysogynistic? Its not like the stereotypes appear from thin air..

  • Women r so weak, emotional and stupid. This commercial is factual.

  • @slckr80s So... Does that mean you're gay??? ...Can I watch?? *q*

  • I love how she scoops over at the end. Classic!

  • So true....

  • how Could You!.......i'm a WOMAN!

  • @th3v13w and your point is...

  • @th3v13w Batman Returns reference FTW!!!

  • haha. sexism. that was a simpler time where people could stereotype without being sued. oh the good old days.

  • well, it's still all true, we just don't speak about it so openly. That's the difference.

  • Forget the sexism, I wouldn't buy any tire with the word "glass" in it.

  • My mom saw this commercial back in 1970 and she said that most women even back in those days thought it was pretty insulting.

  • I work for Goodyear. I lol'd.

  • Wife? Forget wife. Neither D.F.Lentz or Charles E. Bates could get a date with that lady.

  • LMAO. I suppose it is easier to pick up groceries in a car.

  • Attention Moron: This commercial is FORTY YEARS OLD!! It took your dumb ass 40 years to drudge up this "travesty of justice?" Go suck a dick.

  • @jamesabruzzi Attention TRUE moron: did it not occur to you that the OP only just RECENTLY discovered this commercial? Surely YOU weren't born with all the knowledge you currently have? BTW it says it was posted in 2007, not just now. Also, how do you know the OP didn't see this commercial when it first came out? He or she could not have posted it on Youtube 40 years ago because it didn't exist back then. DUUUHHHH!!!

  • @LuckyVine You've convinced me. This is the worst example of sexism in the history...Uh, I mean her-story of mankind...damn, did it again...woman-kind. The writers, producers, directors, and actors involved in this commercial should be jailed (if still alive) as well as all Goodyear executives responsible for this modern day holocaust (Cue "I am Woman, hear me roar...).

  • Goodyear or no, what kind of idiot would let a woman drive his classic automobile?

  • @FrictionControl - Heh, my old Mustang ragtop is completely off-limits.

  • I wish I lived in those times. Women should have never been allowed out of the kitchen.

  • "Misogynist"? Hey, you misspelled "Fact-based".

  • This completely inaccurate, no matter what safety precautions you take a woman will always crash a car

  • I found this extremely easy to fap to

  • This is so sexist which is why i LOVE IT LOL

  • THUMBS UP IF U CAME HERE CAUSE AOTS

  • this is so sexist but sooo funny like they depicted her lady brain processing all the lights and things with 70's action music lol

  • AOTS!

  • Aotssssss

  • Browns suck!

  • Well, shit. This is a bit awkward. I was looking up tire recommendations for replacement tires and ended up coming here and masturbating.

  • AOTS :)

  • AOTS!!!

  • AOTS

  • AOTS!

  • It amazes me when someone tries to call a woman precious cargo who deserves to be protected by the best product, that it can be twisted to mean she is an inferior driver.

  • @thesoprano1 the fact that she'd be considered "cargo" at all should amaze you. ;)

  • How the fuck is this "misogynistic"?

  • @JackBlair2 I don't know, I thought if something stated fact it wouldn't be :P

  • There is a difference between misogynism and sexism. This is sexism.

  • Ok, I'll be the first to throw out a 'women can't drive' joke, but this is pretty fucked up.

  • Rofl

  • So men shouldn't care about their women? I don't see how this commercial is bad.

  • @wingfeathers00 My thought exactly. But that is assuming a man is buying the tires, I suppose. If a woman is buying the tires, the commercial needs to be gender-reversed.

  • @wingfeathers00

It's assuming all women are incompetent drivers in comparison to men. As in women need extra special care when taking it to the roads, because they can't do it as well as men.

  • Comment removed

  • @92benno92

No, I think it's just marketing to men, who back then wore the pants in the family and were the ones who made the big purchases, and men would feel better about their wives driving if they had a good set of tires. But "polyglas" = lol in any case.

  • @eXcommunicate1979

"When a woman's at the wheel, it means more than mileage".

Sure men would have bought the tyres but the reason this is sexist is because it assumes women need extra care when driving. "When a WOMAN in behind the wheel" you need extra safety? It's saying that men drive better than woman and a more capable of driving competently.

Look at other adds from this time, they're sexist.

  • @92benno92 SHADDAP.

  • @eXcommunicate1979

no, its straight up sexist but im not sayin anything is wrong with that at all ;-)

  • We trust thousand year old yahoodies to have been wise men ... why can't we trust that a 40 year old tire commercial is wise too?

  • at least its not another "my husband is such a dumbfuck" commercial.

  • The video says nothing about family--just wives.

  • Amazing.

  • I loled.

  • How the hell is caring about your wife's safety misogynistic?

  • @MegaAstrodude

    It assumes women cannot drive.

  • @DeathWishMonkey,

I think you should always care about your family members safety when they are driving. Tire blow outs kill the best of drivers.

  • @DeathWishMonkey,

Well, the last line @0:49 is a little sexist, but it could also be construed as sexist in women's favor. A woman's safety was seen as more important than the man's safety.

  • @MegaAstrodude If it's not sexist, then why is a woman more at risk of crashing than a man, which is what this commercial is implying?

  • She wanted to think for herself. Why didnt she listen to her husband? Now her pretty little head will hurt all day.

  • @rickeyhenderson88: uh, most people that's who.

  • I'm a woman myself and as a single mother I am OUTRAGED by this video. MY 2 black sons need to be driven to their school and parole officer and if I don't do it who will? Sure I've caused a few accidents, but who hasn't?

    Video is offensive.

  • @rickeyhenderson88 Bullshit! I went on your profile and have seen the bigotry you condone. You're not even a woman. This video is no more offensive then exlaiming "kill all faggots".

  • @rickeyhenderson88: Yeah! You were so busy you forgot to switch accounts after your sex-change surgery, Ricki!

  • Decades later, Goodyear engineers are still furiously working in their labs to design a tire that makes it safe for asians to drive.

  • @MrPhalluster A recent proposal to force them to drive rubber coated motorized bumper cars was shot down for being "economically unfeasible"

  • @MrPhalluster Ok, now that's funny.

  • Please read all the comments on this video. Comments have been posted on here going on three years and people STILL DON'T GET IT. And some of you actually have the nerve to still get totally p***ed off about this???? Some of you ppl must also be pretty darn young because you act very ignorant of the way people thought in past decades. Learn history. Life isn't all about Justin Bieber or Kim Kardashian or that vampire actor who kissed that dude.

  • @micmac99 What's your point?

  • From my POV, it just looks like the commercial depicts the dudes point of view as focused on longevity of his car and the work put in, whereas from the women's point is safety and control so she can get home to see her husband after a long and stressful drive.

I don't see how this is Misogynistic at all, its just differences in priority :)

  • Ha! OMG!! Ha! Oh god! Lmao... Rofl! Wow... Thats really offensive! Huh... :D

  • This is so sexist it's funny. Now if they were still airing this, I'd have a problem. However, I have to agree, the advertiser probably thought they were showing concern for the wife who we all know is a bad driver - not because women are bad drivers naturally, but those cars were BOATS and the steering was horrible. Much in the same way a rich southerner could say, I'm not raciest my mammy was Black or I'm not sexiest I give my wife a huge allowance to buy all the shoes and makeup she wants.

Much in the same way a rich southern could say, I'm not raciest my mammy was Black or I'm not sexiest I give my wife a huge allowance to buy all the shoes and makeup she wants.

  • far from misogynistic.. they don't portray hatred of women.. though it is easily sexist

  • They were just being honest.

  • Here is an example of the terrifying 'Patriarchy' in action - they are being protective towards the women. How evil is that?

Compare to today's UK commercials: Women smash in guys head with a hoover, Keep a guy prisoner down a well, Leave a guy hanging off a tall building to die, Drown a guy in a glass box, Put a guy in a bin, etc etc.

So the idea that women are entitled to revenge for past male cruelty is a fucking disgrace.

Men are good and Women are evil both now and in the past.

    Amen

  • LOL funny yet soo true

  • That is an extremely large kitchen.

  • Funny, cuz all I saw was concern for one of the most important thing that will ever travel in the car. Your wife. I don't know if it was about "her" driving as much as the danger of anyone driving. Just that you want good tires when she's driving cuz she's important to you. Oh, well.

  • I love how the music gets really dramatic when a women starts driving.

  • It would be pretty silly for any woman to get all worked up over something like this, an old stereotype that most people (men or women) don't buy into anymore. It should be viewed really as mildly amusing in a quaint sort of a way. If a commercial showed a woman wearing a dog collar and being led around by a leash, now THAT would be something totally different!

  • Well this doesn't seem so bad...

"When your wife has to drive alone"

    Well fuck.

  • Lol wow

  • I wonder if the maker of this commercial just hated women because none of them wanted to sleep with him, or because his mother liked his sister better.

    ;)

  • @SinnFein4ever I wonder if you are just trying to justify something with stuff pulled right out of your ass. This is a minute long commercial, dipshit; how the hell are you able to perform a Freudian analysis based on this?

  • @SinnFein4ever Where do you get the maker hated women? Sounds to me like they cherish women and want them protected and safe while driving.

  • hahaha!! xD

  • This isn't necessarily misogynistic, just sexist. It's not anti woman, just saying they're bad drivers.

  • @cossintan1

Sexism towards women IS misogyny, you twit.

  • @TFYFWYA Oh, an ad hominem attack, that's always constructive in an argument. Misogyny is defined as "hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women", where as sexism is "attitudes or behaviour based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles". So even if sexism is directed towards women, it's not necessarily misogynistic. I could close by throwing an insult at you because of your difference of opinion, but I believe in civilized discourse.

  • @cossintan1

Oh fuck off with your civilized discourse. I'm not trying to win friends here.

Sexism IS misogyny, because basing your opinion on traditional stereotypes is EVIL and MISOGYNIST.

Frankly I don't give a flying FUCK if you agree. I didn't post this for YOU. I posted it for MY OWN REASONS.

  • @TFYFWYA If you didn't post it for me, then why did you link it in a reply to my comment, as opposed to making an original post?

  • @cossintan1

If I told you why, it would ruin the reason behind why I did it in the first place. Sorry.

  • Respond to this video...

And just to clarify, for anyone else who is too stupid to get it, the traditional stereotypes about women are IN THEMSELVES woman-hating and woman-distrusting. Therefore, subscribing to them makes you a misogynist by default.

  • this commercial is funny because it is so sexist

  • Allah bows to Jesus

  • It's a human fact told to us by Allah, women are less than dog. They are dumber than dog too. This is a man's world, where men created everything. Women are alive only to serve us men.

  • @LameNamedPoster Ah so the truth comes out, you're nothing but a ragheaded twat who enjoys cocksucking.

  • @LameNamedPoster If it weren't because of a woman you wouldn't be alive, you stupid asshole.

  • True. A lot of commercials portray men as dumb shits and I find it funny.

  • People are still worked up over this???? See my comments on the comment page for this spot. I made some of them almost a year ago and I stand by them.

  • GOOD THING SHE'S NOT ASIAN

  • Happy Valentine's Day everybody. Buy your wife polyglas tires.

  • We are not all asking the important question here... What the HELL is she doing out the kitchen!?!

  • A woman is driving! Run for the hills! Don't drive!

  • I feel sorry for her. In this world portrayed in the video, any time a woman goes for a drive, its a paranoid schiztophrentic nerve wracking ordeal.

  • Man, I'd buy some of these tires of they re-aired the commercial

  • If someone is really stupid, it's not because the person's gender, it's because the person themselves are idiotic.

Women & Men are both equally retarded, i mean c'mon, everyone know's that xD lol :)

  • Anyone remember the Geritol commercial "My wife, I think I'll keep her." Now THAT was an insult to women everywhere.

  • If only they made commercials like this nowadays.

  • Meh, the misogynism in this isn't all that bad considering this is a rather old add. Being in the Klan was something someone freely admitted after the Civil War, because it was commonly accepted. We have different standards today. Don't hold it up to today's standards, you'll only fail.

  • doesn't matter, men still die at a higher rate.

  • I lol'd. Hard.

  • Lordy, I wonder how women managed to survive to 2011, the way they are depicting us, the dramatic music, the many obstacles she BARELY maneuvered, we should be extinct! Oh but wait, THE TIRES, the tires helped us survive!.....emergency avoided!!! Whew!!! Thank goodness for Goodyear.......

  • 20 people are driving alone without their Goodyear Polyglass tires.

  • Hahaha that was fucking hilarious. The dramatic music, the panicked look. It was like an action sequence.

I vote for more misogynistic commercials. Also Nightshade is right, in this generation of commercials, men are retards.

  • @Wubnig But see... men are retards :D Bahaha, j/k.

  • @lambritt We have our stubborn, close minded moments :P

  • Feminists need to stfu about this crap already men couldnt care less if women were superior or not BECAUSE YOU GUYS KEEP BITCHING ABOUT IT every fucking history class i have the teacher has to sneak in some useless information about some study tht shows women are smarter than men and we dont give a fuck we just want a nice sammich while we sit down and play xbox live

  • @Kcin5041: If you don't give a fuck then stfu.

    Stupid bitch.

  • @Romeighla shut the fuck up you annoying cunt and suck my dick asshole

  • locking his wife in the garage with Anne Sullivan has paid off well.

  • Let's just all be thankful the dizzy broad could handle all those confusing signs and didn't kill someone important, like a man.

  • @multiplesifl Do you think anyone cared about men in the 70's, or even today? LOL

Just look at the commercial. "It's okay if you get fucked by a flat tire... but what it a woman does? Get good tires you stupid man."

  • God forbid a guy spends a few more bucks so that his wife isn't stuck out in the middle of the night with a flat tire (esp. in those days with no cell phones!). I think the verbiage is a little old fashioned. but the sentiment is not. In fact, nowadays there are even more sickos out there, so if you're a woman and think this is mysoginistic, you get a flat tire at night with no cell signal and see how liberated you feel!

  • this is so funny !

  • OMG. Stop signs, brake lights, pedestrians, construction?! Driving a car is SO SCARY for us women! Haha.

  • Oh my, I'm certainly glad Goodyear is looking out for my well-being on the roads. Goodness knows that a little lady like myself can't drive a big old car properly. I'm always so glad to give my man the wheel as soon as I can!!!

  • So sexist and stupid

  • this is a great commercial

  • I think the implication of this commercial is that the husband is the person making the buying decision concerning this product, and would want to buy the product that would best protect someone he cares about, in this case his wife.

  • We wouldn't want her to crash, what with all those important road signs and other things clogging up her inferior woomin brain *FACEPALM*

  • Oh god that was so scary! A woman driving!?!? DEAR GOD

  • Ellowell.

  • Not really misogynistic. Just lazily depending on silly stereotypes.

  • @archer1949 Um... those are pretty misogynistic stereotypes.

  • I am so using this for my Stereotyping project...THANKS!

  • Ha... misogyny.

  • Why are people getting so worked up over this? Its an old 70s ad. Today you see a lot commercials portraying men as dumb oafs..and I don't see anyone getting upset over that.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nightshade323 I'm a feminist, and I disagree with those as well. I'm for gender equality, not female superiority. No, it's not okay for women to be portrayed as incompetent, but you're right-the opposite isn't okay either. People are people, and gender shouldn't be a factor in things like this.

  • @Nightshade323 hello today: grow a pair, numbnutz. LOL

  • @Nightshade323 Because that was truth in advertising LOL (just kidding, men, calm down)

  • @Nightshade323

Actually you do. But I don't get pissed at the standard. I get pissed off at the double-standard.

For the most part, women demostrate by the public activism and prioties, that they, well, don't really give a fuck about men for the most part.

  • @Nightshade323 but we are dumb oafs :/

  • @Nightshade323 that's because men have never been denied the vote, paid less, or denied a job simply for being men... idiot.

  • @eraserhead321

until the late 19th century in Britain most men could not vote either because you had to own land... idiot.

  • @U104 it's 2011. And you smell of poo poo.

  • @eraserhead321

wow the the amount of facts and logical reasoning in your argument has caused me to change my whole view of feminists,no longer do i look at them as small pathetic children incapable of rational thought, i now see them as the champions of all women (except Middle Eastern women) all hail the matriarchy!

  • @U104 whatever. I just can't be bothered arguing with ignorance. Bye.

  • @eraserhead321

well you could still argue with me,oh well it's been fun i'll miss you good bye.

    <
