  • What bait do you use?

  • Buy some shrimp (small size with shell on, $2 or $3 only) in Seafood City, cut into small pieces, and use on smaller size hooks. Catch a few mackerel, and after the shrimp is gone, cut up one of the small mackerel for bait, filet with some skin on each piece to make bait chunks last longer. The shrimp is just to get you started, you need something different sometimes to get it all going: small hooks, catch small fish, cut up, use larger hooks, catch mackerel, and so on.

  • Oh, I see. Whenever I go there is a lot of people already. They always get the good spots. They hog it as well. For example, 1 person will bring like 5 rods and a bunch of family members to hog it up.. And when I caught that 1 fish a seagull took it! We used that mackerel I caught as bait and 1 second later a seagull swoops down and takes it.

  • Sorry about your one fish. The seagulls are always hungry. The regular local pier fishermen are always early. You have to pay your dues to get the best spot. Get up early (4am or 5am) and get there before the sun rises. Plan on staying only a few hours as the best/busiest fishing is usually before sunrise (or before it gets too bright out). Use a bucket or some type of container to hold your fish.

You can earn your place and respect by getting there early. Pay your dues and good fishing.

  • Haha nice .. Im 13 and I only caught 1..it was a dark day
