We must remember the government of Japan is HIDING the truth from the people there, so most do not know. they will not show it on TV. They will not show the Cove movie. While there are some Japanese activists, realistically a large portion of the Japanese population is aware of and supports this practice. As long as dolphin and porpoise meat is popular among Japanese consumers, the practice will continue.

For example, Iceland canceled their whaling quotas - mainly because Icelanders no longer feel good about buying or eating whale meat. There is no real market for whale meat in Iceland anymore -- because the citizens decided to start doing the right thing.

This new killing methode is even worst than the one we saw in "The Cove". And they added a kind of tent on top of the place where the killings are done. I really hate these fishermen and I wish more people were aware of the situation so we could protest together. Yes this is awful but I have a question I'd like to see people think about before they are hating on the Japanese people. How many of you eat meat, dairy or eggs, wear leather or wool and use cosmetics and household products tested on animals? What is the moral difference between cows, hens, rats, dolphins and us? We all experience pain and have an interest in living. A shift in perspective of animals from things to use to sentient beings that deserve freedom and respect needs to occur.

@SambleBee The only reason why I have a bitter taste in my mouth when the Japanese are in subject is because of their historical infamy. It's true that the common way of life in this day and age makes it difficult to avoid any sort of animal cruelty but every one can choose their own calling. One may feel the need to protect starving children in Sierra Leone, another the testing being done on various animals, and another these dolphins. Someone has to join a team in order to make a difference.

What I am interested in is how people are able to make moral distinctions between cows and pigs, do you not agree both can feel pain and can suffer? When you decide to go vegan, you rid yourself of the moral schizophrenia that it is sometimes okay to kill certain animals but never okay to kill others. It's a very confusing message and is the reason exploitation occurs

there is no short and easy answer like this, though I understand too well the anger you feel. You watched this happen for 3 minutes. I watched for 3 weeks. If you killed them, the west would simply become the "real" bad guy and the backlash would result in no change and more dead dolphins--with a vengence.

The way to change is to reach Japanese public en mass--they will demand change!

I'm only 19 and have been doing research with sea shepherd after i saw the movie Shark water when i was 15. I feel so helpless because I tell everyone about it and they just don't care because it's not something you see on t.v like people killing each other etc. Kudos to everyone that is slowly making a difference, some countries have outlawed their traditional cuisines etc like Norway and the whales.
