I dont get the debate, the us version shows a white trash family from the US, and the Im guessing its the same in the UK version, a white trash family in the UK each fitting to their own countries
i love the U.S. version of shameless. I'm from the U.K and think U.S. version is just as good. i can understand why a lot of americans never really embraced the U.K version, mainly cos they don't really understand british slang. the americans have done a pretty decent job with shameless
I think the US one is better. I just don't get why this is a huge fucking debate! I'ts a fucking tv show! You all need to grow up. The US doesn't ruin anything. You all need to chill. Really, grow the hell up. It's a show. Every time the US makes a version of a tv show from the UK, everyone gets all offended. It's stupid.
@JordanMiller89 have you seen the UK version if you haven't look for it Franks character in the US version is to much of a grumpy guy he's not a very likeable guy the UK version he is sweet to his kids and more likeable, he talks to himself because he's pissed off his head witch they should have added in the American version he's sober and he's talking to himself witch I find a bit silly it makes him just look like a a nutter
@wipers86 Given how screwed up his neuro-chemistry must be after decades of heavy substance abuse, it's highly likely that such idiosyncrasies would carry over (he's not JUST a drunk in the US version, he does hard drugs as well).
Also, Frank in the US version has only been sober for one episode; he's a functional alcoholic so he's always somewhat inebriated.
Also, let's be clear: William H Macy >>>> David Threlfall (not that Threlfall isn't good; he is)
@davidmacintosh agreed. Honestly, I can see myself giving the UK version a shot, just like I did with The Office. While I honestly wanted to like the UK version of the office, the slang made it very difficult for me to follow some of the humor. If some broadcast company in the UK makes something groundbreaking, you can guaran-damn-tee that I'll watch it. If there is something that I may be missing that a yank could understand and appreciate, let me know :)
@CryptopsyBodom try watching Life On Mars the UK version, I don't know if you'll get any of the humor or not, but it was a hit over here witch I don't think the American version did well, I never cared for the Office myself either version, try MR's Browns Boys also, it's strange how we get the American humor and you guys don't get ours, you should also try the UK version of Shameless, in the UK version of Shameless Frank talks to himself mostly because he's pissed of his head
@danherbert96 Too bad we make many, many more hit shows than the UK ever could. I'm not against the UK or anything, but when we have companies like HBO, AMC, and FX pumping out critically acclaimed show after critically acclaimed show, it's hard to compete. Frankly, I'd consider myself more of a culturally acceptable US citizen. I actually watch foreign shows, even though they might not make sense due to slang. I'm currently watching Forbrydelsen since the US version blew hard.
@CryptopsyBodom for starters the US is a richer and bigger country and our version of Shameless isn't over there for that reason it's the same with Life On Mars, I cant understand why there is US versions, I watched the US version of Life On Mars our version was a hit over here I don't think your version did much I watched a bit of it one time and didn't care for it, it's the same with this version of Shameless Frank in the UK version is pissed pretty much all the time that's why he talks
@CryptopsyBodom that's why he talks himself because he's that out of it, and he's a more likeable character in the UK version he's more sweet with his kids and etc, you have to remember your country is richer and bigger so your bound to have more hit programs more money equals more programs, it's like our country we had lots of bands that made it big over there such as the Beatles Rolling Stones Led Zeppelin Black Sabbath David Bowie Queen etc
@HappyEndingGirl13 Read the description. The deal between her and her dad was that if she went to this purity ball to confess her sins, she would get a car.
