Miles was the Master.. the way Louis Armstrong commanded the trumpet and made it sing whatever he palyed.. Miles did his way with the trumpet but he set fire to his pieces and took you to a whole different world all together.. a word of smokey cafes and underground lounges.... the smoke and drink crowd..
When I First Herd this Song...I had Just Met Some Two Energy's That Would Change me Projection / Perception For Every...Wow Those Moments! Sweet Movements. So Powerful. So Fragile. The Reason To Live....
This is the track that started it all for Miles...it really did. That sound and aura was brought to light...and he played very little of the melody! Genius!!!
both men have their own stamps to put on it. Monk wrote it and did it his way, then Miles said " hey man, what if we do it like this" with his trumpet... they are both wonderful. Jazz is a beautiful art form man, lets not be negative here just dig the tunes.
Aunt Mary belong to the Columbia Record Club and would loan my brother and I these precious recordings to listen to at home. This was my intro to Miles and Trane at the age of 10 or so. We surrounded my music on the southside of Chicago, jazz, blues, r&b... This is what a cherish about 50s, being tranced-out by this music taken to other worlds than 1950s America!
@HolyWarspunishmentdu I think you are just a sensitive soul in a fucked up world. And this is the why of the jazz: jazz to make better the shape of this world and for the listener, to help him to resist reality and feed its soul...
Round Midnight almost makes me cry anytime I listen to it, especially when I remember that most of these jazz legends playing it are all gone. You are greatly missed Miles David :(
The sound quality of this is unprecedented on my mom's laptop. I can hear things I've not heard before in the mute trumpet sound here and the laxness of the sax has a strong presence, too.
I just wanna imagine myself in some smokey bar late at night listening to this, with rain outside gently tapping on the windows with the beat of the music.
This sounds like something when your head down, in the city as rain droplets camouflage your tears and you feeling down in the dumps cause your boss just fired you and gave you your last paycheck. I'm pretty sure everybody , job or not, has had this type of feeling in their heart. I'm only 15 and i sure had .
Out all This be My favorite..yes dahlings it does what it does..right it erects the feelings of passion that lead you to feel what can happen "round midnight" It is a very sensual seductive song.. my most favorite of all.. I have loved Jazz for many moons..
Ugh! Neighbor decided to blast top 40 as soon as I hit play! :( So I switch to headphones which sound better than laptop speakers but get hot as hell from the leather. Just wanted to chill and listen. Oh well.
The quintessence of jazz, point blank. Anybody who doesn't like has either got no ears or no soul. Coltrane just kills it on this one. My favorite jazz recording of all time.
Somber souls, these jazzmen, invoking memories of times and places we all once knew. Interpreting our dreams and longings. Looking deep into our muted souls, they speak the language of our hearts. A tongue few have mastered. God's one true language understood by all.

milestone1970 1 year ago 3
