@corght in canada where i live 495 fps is the legal MAX so a .22 can be worse than a .177 if there is any wind the .22 pellet is bigger and gets blown off target more.

At 25ft any pellet gun could penetrate that stuff. Try it at 50 yards or more and really put your rifle to the test.

@nastyfishy - With all respect, shooting pellet and BB guns are supposed to be fun. I have some higher end stuff that shoots .25 cal at 45-50 fpe, but I love to plink around in my house shooting boxes and can tops... There is nothing wrong with having some fun. This video explains why BB & pellet guns are so great. You dont need to load everything in the car and head to the range, right inside your house can be loads of good fun.

I have an pellet revolver and it shoots 430fps, but your pellet pistol probably shoots around 430 fps too i think? 400fps and 490 fps isn't a big difference i think, but the difference in penetration is very big I see :o

@pyrosimple I used to have an earlier model of that same pistol. It uses a powerful spring to propel the projectile. It shoots BBs or pellets, one at a time. You have to cock it for every shot.

I was about to buy one but preferred sights w/ option to put on a scope. Gamo has been rating most their newer guns with PBA lead free pellet ratings so if it says 1200fps then its only 1000fps with lead pellets. I got a Walther Talon Magnum which fires 1400fps w/ PBA and 1200fps w/ lead. Compared to my dads Winchester 1000x, you can really see the extra 200fps. It shoots through 1" plywood and into a 1/8" piece of steel leaving a nice 1/4" dent. FUN FUN =)

very clever work - did you know that in the 1900's, cartridge makers and gun makers used something called "Petits Pads", a block of kraft-type paper, many layers thick and stapled at each corner, to test pellet penetration. They were named after the stationery company that made the pads. Dont listen to any flak about sighting in - your gun is sighted in for a different range that 10ft is all. Cardboard Dragon Skin? cool but no substitute for the real thing!

590fps at 100 yards is like a bee-sting, yes it kills a pigeon but after dropping 4 feet!

Real airguns are "real rifle". A Career Fire 202S has up to 200ft/lbs, 40% more power than a .22LR rimfire.

A modified Evanix AR6 has near 94ft/lbs & 1200fps with heavy eun-Jins.AirForce condor .25 modified produces 90ft/lbs.

These are real-rifle numbers.

The .25 Condor using 89gr bullets drops a deer.

i'd still prefer a real rifle to those however powerfull they are. but a real is cheaper and most like easyer becuase to get 90ft/lb's out of a spring or a pcp would kill you cocking it. or use all of the air in the tank. i can also imagine very high costs and weight. i have my eye's on a sako 223 that will have a much flatter tragectory then an airfile

You fill their air-tank using scuba 4500psi tanks. One 88cu ft carbon fiber tank can fill a rifle between 60 to 80 times not just once.

Yes cost is high, they're $600 to $1000+scuba$600.

You can't fire a .223 within city-limits, that's why people buy high-power airguns.

I mean large half-acre or 1acre backyards that are 60 to 100 yards long but since they're inside city limits we can't use .22LR on them.

It only needs to get re-filled with air using high-pressure compressors at Scuba-shops or paintball shops or nice guys at fire-department.

One scuba tank has an average lifespan of 15 years but in real life one lasts a lifetime with proper care and Hydro-test every 5 years.

One fill gives you up to 50 fills for a 3000psi rifle or over 100 fills for a 2000psi rifle. That pays in the long run.

Pump is pain, too much pressure on wrists.

4500psi carbon fiber tank is $650 including adaptors and hose or $480 without.

Cheaper 3500psi tanks are $350.

Scuba shops fill up to 4000psi for $5 and 4500psi with a different compressor for $20 but then the fill lasts you 4-6 months and 50 fills.
