Even with the explanation why the koala is there this advert still falls flat. I think it's because you'd have to know about Koalas having poor eyesight to understand this, and if it's supposed to mean that the woman is seeing the koala because of her eyesight, I think she needs to stop taking the little blue pills XD
Wtf is this advert about. Why is there a koala in a English park and why does it want to read a newspaper? Boo to the person who thought up and another boo to the person who made it.
notice Australia is mentioned? Notice THAT is what the Koala is looking at?
notice the movies in the free movies offer on the front page?
A mixture of 9/11, disaster and survival films?
I'm betting on a VERY large volcanic eruption soon, in the vicinity of Australia, that will be big enough to make Koalas drop out of trees when the ash cloud drifts over them.
I understand about the Koala bears not having good eyesight, but this advert just makes no sense. If it can't see, how the fuck did it read a small newspaper article from 20 feet above.
Man, I need me a job in marketing. I would love to spend 20 minutes thinking of a concept, handing it to a CGI programmer, and then fucking off for lunch/coffee/blowjobs.
@loocasduber The idea here is that Koalas have not that great eyesight (their sense of hearing is great on the other hand, which is how they detect predetors). Therefore the contact lens offer intrigues him. That is the idea behind this advert.
And Framestore wouldn't make this advert without considering what the client wants :)
@randompersonist 1) in no way am I suggesting that FC didn't do their job. Not at all. They did an excellent job! 2) You see, I didn't know koalas had that terrible sight. :) I was guessing after this ad, but that was it. The message here is simply not as clear as it could be. Perhaps a bat falling off the tree and crawling to the lady. But, I understand that wouldn't work that well either. Well, it's not a simple concept and I think this approach isn't one of the best. Just my 2c.
The name of the actress is Tor Clark.

@benjani19941994 The narrator sounds to me almost definitely to be Katherine Parkinson

Honestly... I don't get the message. What was the thought behind the ad? What does it communicate? And why the friggin' panda?
I loved the visuals, of course, they are top notch, but the VFX does NOT serve the purpose (story, message...) here, in my opinion.
