sorry to say but miss kym said my name at least once a week no wait im not sorry i loved it older sister never got mention or younger brother i could make them cry by saying five simple words miss kym don't love u she only loves me ralmfao
Dick and Jane and all those other white English "normal" names. She never once said "Paullett" Ugh...!!!! the time I wasted waiting week after week to hear my name! Now I figure I'm glad she never did because I don't have an average name and I am not average...I'm above average...So there stinky Romper Room Lady.
I bet where ever she went in public people bugger her about hearing their name! LOL Serves her right.
I think all the kids that heard their name became CEO's n' such. I think if I heard my damn name on my B-Day I would have had a better life, maybe not so angry too.
I remember this show from when I was a kid. It's been years since I saw a clip. I only discovered recently that the host had a small role in George Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978). She's the one who says "My turn for the coat." during the studio breakdown in the first minute of the film.
Magic mirror! SEE!!= = this show was nothing but a dive into Satanism and powers of the underworld. I remember one time when she even had the Devil on there himself as a guest! He turned the first three rows of people into Jello. Molten lava flowed from below and emgulfed 246 people in the audience before they were swept away to eternal punisment in hell. 53 people's eyes were gouged out with a hot poker, Many instanly Had theirs melt out of their heads and run down their smolderng faces
I hated this show...I watched everyday and she never saw me! i used jump around in front of the TV screaming, "can you see me?". She never said my name, it has effected me until this day!
I don't think we had this show in Chicago, IL, because I didn't come across it. However, I think I saw it once in Miami Beach, FL when I stayed with my grandmother. I also remember catching a show called Duck Duck Goose, which was apparently a local show in Florida because I remember hearing the zip code to write in being 33131.
Thank you mammer90 for posting. I just met this dear lady at lunch today and told her I remember her magic mirror and waiting to hear my name and see if she saw me. Of course she asked my name and said, "Oh, I remember seeing you several times" :)
@erinwantstobesigned I know exactly how you feel...my sister's name is Sarah and we used to hear that all the time...and of course she totaly rubbed it in my face!
@mammer90 Until today, I had nearly forgotten the show. I was enthralled with it when I was a child in the mid-60's. Thanks so much for posting it.! She even said my name today....how did she know so long ago what kind of day I had today?! ;-)
One day I had tweeted about how Miss Sally and Miss Molly NEVER said my name in the Magic Mirror...well...a couple of weeks ago, I got a Tweet from the REAL Miss Molly and thirty years later I got my Magic Mirror shoutout! LOL!
@ 0:50 she pronounced Jose "Joe Say". Shows how much she cared about Hispanics! My name is Manuel so I didn't have a chance. She scarred me for life by not calling my name! Wonder what became of those kids.....
It would've been nice if she said my name...."Oh, and there's Chris. He's having a special day getting his ass beat by his father because he fucked some shit up again. What's the matter, Chris? Can't do anything right? Look, your brother is in the corner pointing at you and laughing." Ahhhh, those were the days......how I miss them....
And I see Prakesh, Pedro and Jamal and LaDonka and Tree and Marvin and Khalid and Khadija and Zeev and Ari and Nambla....or did Romper Room last into the age of political correctness, so that efforts would have been made to include such spicy names? I was past that stage by about '68 so I wouldn't know what happened. Was surprised to see it lasted even into the 80's.
What does political correctness have to do with ethnic names? From my understanding the names of the children were selected from letters sent to the show.
This was, and still is, one of my fave shows as child.
@LotusDViolet I just assumed that the names were just chosen to "cover" a significant fraction of the likely viewers. I never knew (or believed) they were based on actual letters. The current mode of randomly peppering a movie, TV show, or ad with various ethnicities to appear inclusive is a not-entirely-cynical approach of keeping the proportions of depicted minorities consistent with those of the population, while "cycling" through them to cover as many as possible.
"Joe Say" HAHA HA! I'm assuming that's "Jose?" LOL.....Still hasn't said my name. DAMNIT!!!
