i've been dreaming about this for a couple of years... imagine a 26b on this car... or even a "32x" made using a custom eccentric shaft and 2 direct injection 16x engines .
@MRedPanda and muffle the great sound a quad rotor makes with turbos? why would you when for 38-40k dep on the tune a nz guy can make a quadrotor for you that makes 700+ hp na?
You need to adjust your programing for the fuel controller. the 'blueing' of the post turbo exhaust pipe and the 'glowing' header pipes shows raw fuel being released into exhaust system and thus into the turbo. You will burn up your turbo quickly doing this. Reduce the amount of 'open' time on your injectors. The cooler turbo will give you more BHP and save the life of the turbo.
Good to know! I was misinformed about it apparently.
Im looking at a twin turbo set up on a LS7, I just need to get the $40K to get it. It's a custom build that has dyno tested 1800+ BHP to the wheels. Just wondering if a Porsche trans-axil transmission can be beefed up enough to handle it.
That sounds awesome but the LS7 walls are so thin that under lots of boost, they can fail. Unless there is a way to get around that, then I wouldn't recommend that. That's why GM didn't boost the Corvette Z06. Good luck with your build though!
have someone build you a real turbo motor like a ford modular engine. you can boost a 5.4 liter to 40 pounds or more if you please with the right mods, but the factory heads and block can be reused all the way.
check out that pro mod guy matusek's car...it makes 2300 hp out a 4.6 liter with stock block and heads
@TheDrooch 6 second car, before blowing up and needing a rebuild that is haha! :P jokes. But really at that amount boost you would have one huge turbo. And an undrivable car, i bet the dyno graph is flat (nothing) then once that big F*cker spools up (or 2 of them, i havnt seen the car) it just shoots into the roof. Like a supra haha.
Then again with that power it would only be a dyno queen.
Depends on what you want to do with the engine. resuming to essential, To increase the hp / torque of a stock engine it's better to run a supercharger, all the engine will run cooler and goes easier on the pistons, etc... for the HP numbers of this engine it's better to run Turbos, it won't use stock rods or pistons, and the compression ratio will be reduced to avoid knock when high boost is applyed. For Cool effect... TURBO all the way
sounds like a mustang/cobra... Matters what you want to do. If your asking this Q then I'd say go with a supercharger for now. Remember that its not all about how much horses you can jam into the hood...its whether you can apply those horses to the ground
your exhaust heat is going to go this high in any real race setup at 20 +psi
the glowing manifold bfore means that a boundary layer of heat has formed, and is trapping the expanding gasses as efficiently as possible to help turn the turbine.
also, extra fuel cools the piston, and helps spool the turbo because of the larger volume of expanding gasses at the given trottle position and load.
sir, i dont hink you know too much about tuning and fabrication.

Hells yeah. This car still , i believe, hold the world record for fastest car to go 0 to 100mph then back down to 0 in like 9 sec.

No, you're wrong. It's completely normal for the exhaust temperature to be up to 900 degrees celsius.
baldurTV 3 years ago
Naah, to much fuel cools down exhausttemperature and makes the engine run rich.
If you want to reduce the temp it´s the ignition and cam who needs to be adjusted.
However its normal for turbocharged engine to get glowing headders nd turbodownpie during heavy load.

Heard of a little guy called Lingenfelter? He makes darn good money from boosted LS7s.

22lambo is correct. Is there much difference in cost between an LS7 and an LS9? It may be worth the investment.
