  • Thanks this is great for nursing students! :)

  • ahhhhhh unsterile!!! and putting that tegaderm on before the chlorhex is dry can cause skin burn.

  • i have mine in no for my two week treatment but mines isnt stitched in

  • I thought that picc lines had a statlock on then,

  • Picc dressings are my absolute favorite! It may sound strange but I think they feel amazing :) lol It gets so itchy over the week that I cant wait for my skin to breathe and be itched! BUT ouch, ive never had mine stitched in like that.

  • @almam42 Yes, I love scratching the itch!!

  • this is ridiculous and not at all sterile.. wow

  • PICC line dressing change 101- remove the dressing TOWARD the pt, not away like she did. And clean from the inside out- not outside in- which drags bacteria into the venous system. This video is NOT safe practice!

  • Esta retirada do curativo filme transparente foi bruta hein! Até causou hiperemia! Se vc passar algodão umido ( com solução fisiológica ou salina ) por cima antes de remover não causa tanta agressão à pele.

  • I have had 3 picc lines before and i have had several dressing changes. They are not pleasant. I had mine clipped into a statlock.

  • Wow...how come yours is stitched in???....mine was clipped into a statlock.....an your line is so far in!!....Mine had to be 3-4 dots out....always had to make sure it was on the same dots all the time....this is so weird watchin this now, as ive no longer got one...x

  • i place picc lines, we don't stitch them in, we use a statlock. and with the chloraprep swab, you are supposed to use a back and forth motion and scrub. you don't go in concentric circles, like with iodine and alcohol. the scrubbing motion is supposed to get the chlorahexidine into the first layer of skin. but, that biopatch is on wrong. you need to be able to get it all around the insertion site. the picc is too close to the skin for her to get it around right.

  • You know, it's easy to be an armchair critic after the fact. But it IS BASIC nursing to pull proximally (the direction the line is implanted toward the patient), and NEVER EVER wash back and forth over the sterile wound! OMG. She cross contaminated over and over again. Good thing she used the all-expensive Bio Patch to try and reverse spreading the microbes all over the insertion point. I feel badly for the nurse :( Embarrassing. Patients usually do not know better, but she's being taped!!

  • When cleaning with a CHG swab, as in this video...as side to side and back and forth motion is preferred, NOT circular as per MFCTR guidelines. However, she did pull the dressing off in the wrong direction. Should be toward the body not away.

  • Yes the cleaning should be from center to out ward and should not be repeated in the middle again and that is not right b/c she might introduce bacteria to the center of the cath..line and I hope she won't do it with other pts.

  • wow...i can't believe you need stiches and aswell the double tubing.

When im on IV's it only a small single line with no stiching and they don't replace the dressing.

  • Ok I'm scared of that nurse now. You're supposed to start at the center, and work your way out when cleaning a PICC line site. She not only started on the outer edge, but she dragged it repeated back over the site. She just contaminated that site...

  • stitching is a good thing. Helps keep the cath from moving and introducing bacteria to site

  • Ugh, I hate those! Wish mine had been stitched in...kept having complications!

  • Dressing changes are always fun hah

It kinda stings a little but after they're all done my arm feels all clean and sanitized (:
