The inner record method - by pressing 'f' - records a file only for ACMI, the is currently does not work in FF5.x. ACMI option is available on main UI surface.

If you want record video in flight use Fraps or similar recording software, for example PlayClaw.

@666wrathofheaven666 You're a dummy, the jets "safe" limit is around 9Gs. Once an F-15C pulled 12G in a combat dive in desert storm... for 6 seconds. A Phantom II did the same for another 3 while chasing a MiG ("Limit" for the phantom is that of 7.3G)

I see - I'm still able to play AF though and it doesn't appear to have affected that install at all. I've given the mod a try and it's pretty good, kudos to the FF5 team for making such a great mod.

I'm pretty confused here so please someone enlighten me, is FF5 a standalone game or a mod that you apply over Falcon 4.0? I've downloaded and installed FF5 but it doesn't seem to interact with the original at all (not surprising as I don't even have the original, just Falcon 4.0 AF). Did it use the AF files to install the mod and if so is this even supported?

You can install over AF or original F4.0. Install above the original is better because you can install also the AF. They will use different registry.

IMHO, GPU isn't an issue with any of them. It's mostly GPU/RAM. I've tried AF, OF, and RV.

Never had any issues with AF.

OF 4.5 (OCI) was great, but I had occasional CTDs.

RV seems to be a prettier version of OF, without the CTDs.

Campaigns stuttered a little in all 3, but I just got 8 gigs of RAM for my 64 bit OS... no stutters whatsoever, lol.

I'm a fan of RV after trying all 3. Installed over original F4.0

Well... I see alot of visual improvements over Allied Force, that's for sure! But graphics aren't everything... Well, I'm even more intrigued now! Either way, I'm just SO HAPPY to see the flight sim community rallying 'round to keep the best sim ever made alive... it's been depressing the past few years, given how EVERYONE sold out to the arcade crowd and watered flight "sims" down to pure crap. One slap in the face after another...

I have Falcon 4.0, as well as Allied Force... I took too long to jump on the mod bandwagon, though. I was too busy just absorbing AF, and now I'm lost. What are the main differences between AF, OF, and FF (besides the latter two needing the original F4.0)? Are people only playing FF and OF because they have the original F4, and don't want to pay a second time for Allied Force, or what? Somehow, I doubt that...

OF and FF (ESPECIALLY OF) are more realistic than AF because of their more realistic avionics simulation.

For example, the radar behaves in a more "realistic" way - you have to play it to understand what I mean.

Also in AF all you need to lock on a target with the Sidewinder is just to aim at him and, voila, your target is locked. In OF this is not enough. - play and feel the difference.

It's not just that... I think both of them have more realistic flight models.

Personally I play no more AF

@gerodinis Sidewinder locking is same in AF and OF. If the seeker is cooler to catch targets alone, it will do s.All you need is just listen to the tone of the seeker. Of course you can slave the seeker to the radar lock, and tell the seeker where to look to find a target. Thats also same in AF and OF. I agree, OF is much complex, but AF is still miles before Lockon.

Main difference for me is the fully CLICKABLE 3D cockpit. I use TrackIR 6DOF and WOW. My squadron will evaluate FreeFalcon 5 (Red Viper) and if Multiplayer is stable then goodbye F4AF.

FF doesn't need the original F4. You may install it over AF. OF concentrates more on the avionics while FF makes the virtual envoirenment you are flying in feel much more 'real'. That's what I think.

There are MANY reasons why reamin on the FF4 level the avionics. In the future are expected some upgrades but not ATM.

No, ATM avionics remain on FF4 level because of the many bug and databese error that still excist. OF avionics only a sligtly better but in MP flying causes more trouble that can worth. And what about in the distant future? Hmmmmmmm... Who knows?
