  • cool jig

  • @srslyusuck

thank you. Simple to make and use.

  • great. can you post a video (if you can) about how to use the chatterwork tool? so...frustrating......

  • Ah, ha. So that's how it is done. i have had only mediocre results by eye and hand. Thanks very much.

  • how long would it take from beginning to end to sharpen a turning tool if you didnt need a set up like this?

  • Should take about a minute to sharpen with no aids much quicker than using a contraption like this. The level of skill needed for sharpening is much higher than that of using the tool for turning. All woodworking tools need to be kept very sharp so sharpening is realy more important than using the tool.

  • @frog2eyes .... well notice that he is only sharpening a roughing gouge and from what i can tell a bowl gouge, both need to be sharpend at a 45 degree angle....plus it might take a minute for someone who is in a rush to sharpen there tools but im pretty sure no one is in that big of a rush that they need the extra couble of minutes....P.S not a contraption ...its a called a jig in the woodworking work..

  • This is not properly sharpening a turning chisel that requires considerable skill as some gouges need different angles along their edges for different uses. This shows sharpening a turning chisel which anyone can do and get a good result with excellent repeatability. Angles of grinding will be constant shape of cutting edge can be maintained. Highly recommended technique 13 favourites without a comment tells it all.
