I am on my six batch of flour tortillas. I am trying to perfect them. I have tried numerous online recipes to no avail. My godmother was from Texas and used to make stacks and stacks of these fine edible beauty's; but I can't ask for her help because she is with Jesus. I remember as a child how pliable they were. I can't get them to roll. they break...what do you suppose I am doing wrong? I will try yours next. I have not completely given up yet...however it is starting to get frustrating. Angel
I've always made mine just like you.And ya,they never are a perfect circle, plus their big till you pick them up,then they magically shrink some, but boy are they good. Also I was taught yrs ago,as I live on the mexico border,to cook them on my gas burner straight in the fire.My sister visited from Colorado, and she couldn't believe the difference in the flavor cooking them like that. And she about flipped when I just threw them on the burner.........
my mexican husband says his mom always just measured in her hand, which is what you did. he did the same thing when we made tortillas and they came out perfect. its hard to mess them up..
Thanks for posting this recipe! My grandma used to make homemade tortillas, and never had a written recipe. When I was little I used to hang out in the kitchen and help her roll them out. I will have to try this recipe!

Thank you, you just saved me a whole lot of money instead of having to give it all to the tortilla company. :) Homemade tortillas are so good.

My grandma made her tortillas just like you, measuring in her hand. They were always outstanding!
