Well that's great, but the pay increase was supposed to go to ALL teachers... not just the first year teachers.
Has anyone taken the time to read through his proposal for education on his website? I did. Pay increase for MATH AND SCIENCE teachers only and he favors bringing in folks from the private sector.
Sorry, I realize the WEA may have misrepresented the facts, but I'm still voting Gregoire - she has the interests of ALL teachers at heart.
Dino just keeps lying and lying and lying and hoping that the people are TOO STUPID to realize. Dino is the scum of the earth.
Well we are not fooled by Dino's dishonesty, or his plans to cut the minimum wage, cut essential services (like education and road funding), and than give a tax cut to the super rich.
For those who care about the future and function of our State, Dino is just not an option.
Washington State wants Chris Gregoire to lead, Rossi wants to lie his way in.
All the democrats seem to hate Dino because business supports him and that just doesn't make sense, business feeds us, clothes us, provides our tools and buildings and cars and books and builds our roads and schools and hospitals and all the rest of our needs and wants and desires. Without business we would have nothing. We can't make it all ourselves and the little guy can't manage the big projects that we depend all the time. So why is it that when industry says yes, the democrats say no?
A group of conservative hacks (Jerome R. Corsi, Bill Gertz, Lt. Col. Robert Buzz Patterson, Joel Mowbray & Richard Miniter) of such titles as "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry", are filing a suit in Court stating that their publisher (Eagle Publications) gave away copies of their books to avoid royalty payments these so-called authors. Spreading lies & smearing people: Not as profitable as it should be, evidently.
The irony is that the vast majority of republican voters have incomes less than 50k per year & they are precisely the people who are being screwed by the oligarchy that runs this country. The oligarchy (the very rich oil companies & people who run corporations) just want to treat people with lower incomes like slaves. So many people are robots and have allowed republicans to eat into their incomes in the last 8 years.
Dept of Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne has proposed listing polar bears as a threatened species. Under the law this means a species is likely to become endangered in the foreseeable future. The listing is opposed by Alaska Republican Gov. Sarah Palin, who told Kempthorne by letter that listing polar bears has the potential to damage the economy of Alaska without any benefit to polar bear numbers or their habitat, & that there are no human activities that can be regulated to effect change.
I don't understand... the WEA is a teachers group -- it is not Christine Gregoire or her "operatives." They clearly do not support Rossi. That says something to me. Rossi keeps saying small businesses are getting the shaft and he's against the teachers group??? He picks the BIAW over teachers, and I have a problem with that.
we can't prove vote fraud at all. those ballots must have just popped up out of thin air. Gregriore won a fraud election, to quote her commercial, "Just like George Bush"
Sure; once we can all scrounge up enough money to start a "get the Governor laid" political comittee funded by the state. Problem is, I can't see enough of that in WA, with all that being outsourced to China by Boeing - from their new HQ in Chicago!
Hey Dino Rossi You RULE i know you are going to be the best governer ever in history!!!!! Go Dino Rossi. And please do not get mad at me i just think thant he is awsome and that is My opinoin you please post you opinon and not critisise my opinon. please and thank you so verry much.
Dino all the way. You are right, those that have had a stranglehold on Olympia are running scared. As for the teachers, I'd be for raising the teacher's salaries if all the current teachers were fired and we hired back only the people who could earn that higher salary. It makes no sense to claim that our education system is bad because we don't attract high quality teachers and then give the current less than quality teachers a raise and expect the system to improve.
As a former Texan I have never been as happy about our prospect for a governor as I am now. Dino is the Man! He has the wisdom, intelligence and know how to make this state the great place it should be. We can do it, Dino. We're behind you all the way to victory!
I have met and spoken to Dino Rossi at least three times and talked with him about education issues. He doesn't hate teachers and he doesn't hate education. In fact, he has said that public education is essential! Further, he sincerely wants to work in a bi-partisan manner to improve public education and student achievement across Washington State!
As he said, "We can do better". We must do better!
Listen to the bigger picture CG supporters, Dino just plain makes sense! He balanced what was thought to be an impossible budget as head of the Ways & Means Committee. All Gregoire knows how to do is write checks and put our state in debt! It's time for a fresh approach for Washington State and Dino is the ONLY candidate who can make that happen!
Rossi leaves a trail of slime wherever he slithers. He hates teachers, he hates public education, and the way he's running from his record is pathetic.
Once people get to know him, he'll fade away like Giulliani did.
I made 14,000 my first year teaching in NY state. If Dino had been around there I wouldn't have starved half the time. He's right..we to pay teachers what their worth. $30,000 isn't much in WA, but its better than twice what I got in NY. Personally, I find my pay adequate and can live withouth my COLA if it means smaller class size. I'm part of the WEA and I hate hearing them beg for these COLA raises all the time. For me its enough knowing I get a raise every year I teach.
Science diva, just curious how long you have been teaching? Once you hit 16 years, that yearly raise stops! If the COLA isn't in place and Dino gets his way,I will be making at year 40 what I am making right now at year 24. No movement exists after year 16 and MA+90. So is the salary I make today going to be enough in to live comfortably in 16 years? I doubt it.
WA state. They won't count my two years in NY. I'm actually 46 years old and have not been teaching my whole life, I took time off to have a baby and then worked part time. Sorry, but I stand my ground. Our district is facing closing a school!!! I'd gladly donate my COLA to keep it open, and ask my fellow teachers to do the same.
the fact your district is closing a school has very little to do with the COLA and everything to do with state funding. are you getting more state funding without the cola? You didn't address my question. The salary schedule stops in 10 years for you. What will you be making when you are 56? NO COLA, no adjustment for inflation, so it stays the SAME until you retire at 65 (10 more years) can live on that same amount? Is gas going to stay the same? how about food? Hope you aren't a math teacher.
yeah right....wait until you have taught long enough that you no longer get automatic raises each year, costs keep going up, you have more expenses, etc. Please remember that you don't "need" that COLA. And, once you have taught awhile, you will realize that smaller class sizes do not guarantee better teaching.
Well that's great, but the pay increase was supposed to go to ALL teachers... not just the first year teachers.
Has anyone taken the time to read through his proposal for education on his website? I did. Pay increase for MATH AND SCIENCE teachers only and he favors bringing in folks from the private sector.

yeah, that could be a problem, we should just ban recounts, i think that the computers can get it right the first time.

Better than the Seattle recounters who "found" a bunch of extra ballots here and there...

that too... well, these ballots just magically showed up! no explanation just magic!

wow, just like back in Florida during the 2000 election... They must have called Karl Rove & George Bush to find out how they did it...
Face it, the choices suck this time as well and we will be screwed no matter which one of these clowns "win"
